Will Rashford get as much stick as Pogba for his missed penalty?

Pogba got a small amount of stick from Neville, who then instantly took it back.

Other than that, there was nothing much beside Twitter trolls who do that to everybody.

Lingard gets a lot more stick on this forum. Maybe that's because he's English and because of his race.
Or maybe because he's an attacking player with no goal contributions in 2019?

This is out of hand now, I don’t even know what can be done to solve it but racism in football is rife, it’s despicable.
Very easy to stage as well. Create a profile which makes out your a supporter of x club and then racially abuse players for that club.

He was playing devil's advocate. Everybody bangs on about Pogba getting stick because of his nationality and race (which is ridiculous) whilst ignoring the fact that amongst United fans a black, English player is by far the most criticised.

That doesn’t do justice to the issue, what about the recent abuse in stadiums? Is that staged too? It’s absolutely rife amongst fans and the media, it would be naive to suggest otherwise.

No one should suffer abuse but there is no wrong saying player x was shit today. At the end of the day we re all human beings and we all have our bad days
Criticism is fine, but draw a line between that and just outright abuse.

The bigger question is why should any player get stick missing penalty?
They shouldn't get any stick, least of all from supporters of their own club.

It's like people are trying to create a game of oneupsmanship between Pogba and Rashford. Sad really.

I was referring to the twitter thing. Racism still exists for sure, but however long it takes for something to be established, it generally takes at least as long to eradicate unfortunately. We've come a hell of a long way since the 80s (other countries are still worse than English football in the 80s- like italy and Spain) but the remnants of those people throwing bananas are still amongst us.

Depends on what you qualify as "abuse".

Racism is an obvious example but at times there is a very fine line between criticism and abuse

Probably not no.

The media go too far and social media is a fecking cesspool.

You can see why he gets criticised though, he missed the pen through the week then fecked up and gave the ball away which led to their goal today.

IMO there was too much pressure on Rashford to be this perfect penalty master after last week, in order to put down Pogba, he was put too high on a pedestal, that sort of thing affects young players. It was silly to blow Pogba's penalty miss up that much and it will be silly to make this too.

Is it crazy to think considering the stunts that newspapers have pulled in the past that it wouldnt be out of the realm of possibility that they would get staff members to create troll accounts and join in in making racists comments on social media towards rashford, the continuation of such a hot topic over the past week certainly benefits newspapers.

Pogba is possibly the most over rated player on the planet . Stop talking like he's some kind of Messiah
He only played a crucial part in winning the world cup with France. So overrated.

Rashford deserved a lot of stick today for way more shite than his penalty. Won’t happen though. English golden boy.

Agreed. I think it's also because Pogba is more active on social media so moaning about him has a "kids these days" element to it which the +50 pundits love.

Wonder if white players would get the same amount of racism from black and ethnic minorities if they missed a penalty?
Nowhere close, you'd think people who are abused from racism would turn out to retaliate but for the most part they see how ridiculous it is and don't stoop to that level. Bunch of trolls, not even worth the attention.

Some of the racist abuse towards Rashford was from black guys. If you search for it you will see it (unless not already removed). Really think a lot of these are trolls looking to stir the pot, quite a few of the accounts I saw had fewer than 10 tweets and appeared to be brand new.

I think simply being an absolute cnut is rife, trolls target anything they can to abuse someone else. If a ginger had missed the penalty it would have been what is used to abuse him, if he was a different nationality insert derogatory term and so on and so forth.

No because,

1.) He’s English
2.) Doesn’t fit the media’s/fans agenda
3.) Thus not the scapegoat

...even more ridiculous now that you think of it considering all the shit Pogba took last week for his miss. Not even a miss - a save - whereas Rashford point blank missed.

Can’t wait for the non-story pundits & media make this out to be (Neville, Souness, etc). Bunch of agenda driven hypocrites.

/the amount of uncalled for, unfair abuse Pogba gets is sickening.
I was of the opinion Rashford should take all penalties and still am.

Hitting the post is a risk when you want to rule out a keeper save, last week's peno was the sort that just needs the keeper guessing it right. Perfect height and placing for a save.

As far as the bashing is concerned, you are as much at fault now as any Pogba hater before.

A player missed a penalty, tough shit, move on.

Really cool of certain people to twist my words as if I’m hoping for crap to go towards Rashford.

It was/is meant for realization of the unfair treatment Pogba got that’s all. The fact I have to clarify this...

I agree but my point was about society as whole instead of limiting these issues to football. People are like that everywhere.

I find it weird how people argue that "Rashford doesn't get the same criticism because he's English", when the criticism of Pogba is off the track regardless of his nationality. The argument that Pogba gets unfair criticism stands on it's own legs and doesn't need nationality or race (unless it's to call the racists for wastes of space) to bring it up.

Fact of the matter is even today he'll get criticism for his defensive issues, but those issues were well known before this season and we aren't playing with a proper defensive midfielder because the club didn't buy one. If the squad is good enough, then Pogbas deficiencies as a player won't hold us back but he would be purely a great asset to the club.

Unfortunately we're still far away from that point and a lot of people seem desperate to blame the one player who can do well instead of accepting that we don't have the squad to do much better for now, and need time along with a lot more well-invested money to get there.
Even if we do get there squad-wise there is still the issue of competing with one extremely well oiled (on-pitch, squad and bloodbank) team and one that is the champions of europe.

That penalty was the closest you come to without scoring, it went for a goal kick on the opposite side . Pogba’s was crap apart from being hit hard.

Don’t really get the point of this post, sure all abuse is wrong but this is about racism, an aspect of society that has plagued a particular demographic for an eternity. Racism is a lot more than trolling, it’s a state of mind that aims to oppress a whole demographic, not just a bunch of words used to get under someone’s skin, or trolling as you call it.

It was a good save from the keeper who guess the right way. Anyone can miss a penalty.

Simple solution, destroy social media!

At the very least, like Maguire said, needs to be reset so any user has to register, be over 18, and authorised by National Insurance number or the equivalent of.
