You don't remember how one game last season, i can't remember which one, he played hard for the first 20 mins and then was almost keeled over afterwards, rendering him completely useless for the rest of the match?
Does not make some fat to be unable to run for 20 minutes, that's possibly down to personal bias or physical conditioning. Lukaku certainly isn't fat.

No, you're still evidently missing the point. You clearly do not understand the nutritional needs of an athlete like Lukaku and how common it is for professionals like him to "pig out" as you put it. You're continuing to also exaggerate massively and acting as if he came back looking obese when the reality was he'd bulked up with a couple of KGs more muscle than was probably wise.

 if it was a couple of years ago I genuinely bet that a newspaper would have managed to fashion an article out of it.

Yep. His figure was hardly at the point that you'd expect it to have a noticeable influence on his performances.
Your kidding right? Fishing?

Take a look at the pictures? Inter are already bragging that he has dropped 1/2 stone since he got there. Why would they do that if he wasn’t overweight?

Not fat as in some bloke playing Saturday morning football, professional footballer playing for serious clubs?

He was disgracefully out of shape and I blame united for that for allowing it.

This isn’t an exaggeration he was puffing for air so many times I thought united should have had a defibrillator at the ready for him.

Blame whoever you like mate. It's all gravy, he's not a United player anymore and is doing well at his new club. Best of luck to him and hope to see the thread updated on a regular basis when he scores over in Italy. Not with random people calling him fat and whining on about how he was when he played for United. He's a good bloke and it was better that he left United.

Like I say why would inter or Lukaku be bragging about weight loss already.

He was a fat fecker.

Ps good luck to him, I hold no grudge to him apart from his lack of professionalism (was gonna say appetite) but that wouldn’t be appropriate.

I blame the club more than him.

Who said he was fat? You're the one who took weight excess and turned that into him being accused of being butterbean. That's not true at all.

Like i said, he would exert himself for the first 20 mins, then be visibly gassed & be completely ineffective and useless for the rest of the match. That doesn't mean he was 'fat', but he most certainly was unfit.

Our 1-1 home draw with Chelsea on April 28th last season was the one i was trying to remember.

This was Neville after the match.

You don't want to go down this road. It just so happens it's something I'm pretty well versed on. And two, unless you're also agreeing on the notion that plant based diet, with fat and protein from whole foods is the ideal nutrition for athletes, we're going to but heads. And your skull will be crushed, your existing appreciation for what an athlete 'should eat' disintegrated and if you're a fella open minded to robust science and changing his mind, maybe reborn like the Phoenix.

Bah. Feck it. Here's a few places for you to start. Once you've read and understood these appetizers we can look at Lukaku's eating and consider whether he is off the mark:

And here's a special one that I love: Roman Gladiators were practically vegan eating barley and beans! How cool is that?!

Lukaku wasn't fat in sense of fat. He had a great body in general. The problem is he gained loads of muscles between his first and second season here and probably thought that will made him better. Well, no it won't. Footballers aren't supposed to be overly muscular. They are supposed to be slim with lean bodies for most of times, to keep their pace and movement and at the same time be strong enough to hold themselves up in any challenge. Too much muscles make you slower and more clumsy for a footballer. Same problem happened to Depay when he came here. He gained too much muscles in his leg thinking it will make him better but the opposite happened.

So I guess people need to stop using the word "fat" because it doesn't describe what happened to Lukaku. He's not "fat". Many will kill to have a body like his. He's pretty muscular and strong, but the problem is you don't need all these muscles to play football. Football isn't about being muscular at all. Someone should have told him that when he decided to go and bulk even more.

As for him eating fries, every athlete is allowed one bad meal from time to time. One bad meal isn't going to make you fatty, just like one good meal isn't going to make you lean or muscular! It's the over eating of such kind of food every day that leads to this or that and no active footballer will eat such kind of food everyday. That is nonsense and that's hardly Lukaku's problem as I said. His problem is he thought at one point more muscles will make him a better footballer, which isn't true.

Judging by that video alone but he has fantastic heading technique.
Haha indeed!

And to the knobhead above the reason I posted that was on the ongoing conversation a few of us were having so keep your beak out unless you have something useful to say.

If you can read through this thread and not see any posters stating he's fat, then you need to look closer. As for the Butterbean comment, don't you do sarcasm?

I have zero issues with anyone saying he wasn't physically conditioned well enough, as there were signs of that. You gotta try harder if you want an argument, as all I'm saying is he isn't fat.

'Fat' indicates an excess of body fat, or obesity. I mean, it's right there in the fecking word. It's not a word that would have described Lukaku at any point in his career.

I thought this was a serious discussion? Only people calling him fat are taking the piss. Also, sarcasm through the internet is sketchy chief.

Lukaku was a bulky feck who looked like he was playing the wrong sport last season.

If you agree with that, then all's good.

My opinion as I've stated many times, is he isn't fat.
Plus he's moved on, as do a lot of our fans, as going over issues from last season, that have been removed isn't very constructive. Ole has dealt with with problems he had directly with the players.

I agree.

Reason why i got involved in this thread in the first place was to correct opposition fans who thought the bulk issue was exaggerated by us. It wasn't to sit in a circle-jerk about his weight.

Personally, seeing as he's in shape this season, i can see him having a successful season for Inter, as he did initially in the first season for us before he bulked.

"Coming here was the right move, in a good dressing room, where the manager wants winners who can really help the team."

We definitely are mentally soft, that is true.
He's had a go at some one calling him unprofessional, weeks after doing an interview slagging off United, while he was still a United player.

This is a bit like having a go at someone for accusing you of being a thief, while stealing money out of their wallet while standing right in front of them.

I don't really think anything he says has much credence one way or the other. He seems quite precious and a little bit stupid, and also has never actually won anything as far as I'm aware, which puts him in no position to say anything to anyone. Even most of our squad can teach him about what it's like to actually win things.

Akinfenwa is 5'9, maybe 5'10. Lukaku is in the 6'2-6'3 range.

Comparing the weight of two people who are pretty far apart in terms of height isn't really fair.

Don't think Lukaku ever thought he was bigger than the club. That's just him being butthurt because players are calling him out for talking about things he has no clue about. Giving his 2 cents about everything manager related when he failed spectacular at that job.

Doesn't mean Rom shouldn't have left. He should as he wasn't good enough. Although we now lack a number 9 up front the moment Martial picks up a knock.
