I enjoyed S1 but the second one was just a loan of crap imo
Those flashbacks at the start of every episode were doing my head in. Yes we get it, they are all traumatized by what happened, now move on. Watched the first season when it came out because my gf wanted to and found it surprisingly engaging. But that 2nd season was absolute bull.

It got to a point I just started fast forwarding through the flashback scenes. It was a painfully poor season given the talent at their disposal. There just was no plot at all other than the whole court case and them dealing with the fallout.

It hurts.

I mean there's been some baffling castings in the history of cinema, of course - but an absolute vacuous waste of skin to play one of the most charismatic artists of the 21st centuries? I feel like it's a wum. Surely it must be just an elaborate prank. No?

Is he supposed to be Johnny Winter?

Has anyone watched this show on Hulu (produced by national geographic) called Genius? First season is about Einstein. Watched a few minutes of it.. Seems high production values and a pretty well know actor playing Einstein himself : Geoffrey Rush.

Netflix dropped The Dark Crystal today (to rave reviews) and Amazon dropped Carnival Row (to meh reviews). What a time to be alive.

If you like slow paced crime drama in a different style than Sneaky Pete then Too Old to Die Young is outstanding.

I watched the first episode and found it extremely slow - and I don't mind that usually. Haven't gone back to it since. Should I persist?

Heard pretty good things about it, especially the second season which IIRC was about Da Vinci?
Edit : Season 2 was about Picasso who was played by Antonio Banderas

That's the biggest criticism of the show, that Refn went too overboard on the slow pacing. Personally I liked it and I feel it does pick it (or you just get used to it). That slow pacing was the biggest hurdle to getting some of my friends into it so I'd say if you enjoy what you saw try another few episodes. At about 4-5 it becomes gripping, at least it did for me but I love the co-creator Ed Brubaker who is probably the best noir living IMO (though he worked mostly in comic books).

Okay I'm sold. I'm finally working through Peaky Blinders now so I'll do this one next

Watching the first episode of Dark Crystal. The practical effects and puppets are fantastic. You forget how good that stuff can look when everything is dripping in CG these days.

It's good so far too.

I decided to go Carnival Row first before tackling The Dark Crystal. It’s alright so far. Only on episode 4 but worth a watch if you’re just after a fill in show.

My wit's end
In the last few weeks I've binge watched all of Gotham (8/10), all of Stranger Things (8/10), and all of The Boys season 1 (9/10).

I've just started Dark (7/10 for episode 1).

I'm also in the middle of watching the Dark Crystal movie at the moment so I can start the new series with the storyline fresh in my mind.

After those last two, I've lined up Russian Doll, Mindhunter, Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Chernobyl, Love Death and Robots, and Fleabag.

No doubt I'll get distracted by something new before I get to the end of all of that. But that's the plan I have at the moment.

Lodge 49 is a fun off-beat comedy mystery.

Carnival Row

A dark and super slow series that I finally found it too slow to continue past Ep3. My missus who has far far more patience for mediocre series than me made till Ep 5. The world building is rich but ultimately the plots of immigration, jobs, racism (speciesism?) are just too directly parallel to real life and lacked many fantasy elements to set them apart. Don't think I'll finish this.

Finally started watching The Tudors after I've been meaning to do it for years. It's quite a bit different than what I expected it to be like (was thinking it was going to be more of a knight s tale kinda spin on things) - but that's a good thing. Almost immediately hooked.

I'm enjoying The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. It's a bit silly and child orientated but it's genuinely good fun and I find myself smirking throughout. I particularly enjoy the Skeksis puppets and the character Chamberlain is brilliant.

It was decent fun. Probably would’ve been better if I had a sentimental attachment to it. Or was babysitting some kiddos.

It's better than reviews suggest.

Finding Banshee a struggle. Every episode is a fight, a feck and an unbelievable plot.
