So it's basically now an 'I'm right and you're wrong' argument? I'm just pointing out that some people liked it, I don't know what's so controversial about that statement...
Not at all. If you want to state what you thought was particularly good about the film, or why you feel it's better than people are giving it credit for/why people think it's better than most of us and the critics do, then go ahead.

Mate, with all due respect I'm not trying to convince you this a great film, that's stupid and why would I?... Try and entertain the thought that other people may like different things and to varying degrees.

Genuine question, how is me pointing out that I and many others enjoy some of these films problematic?

It isn't? And I didn't say it was either. Plenty of people liked this film, and they've got every right to do so. But I'd expect if someone's defending the film, they'd be basing that defence on something? I didn't go into this wanting to dislike it...I thought the trailer was fairly decent and interesting, but found the movie itself to be a complete mess. People are welcome to think otherwise and plenty do...but it's hardly some edgy, controversial opinion to slate this, and a number of the other poor films of a similar nature.

The only defence I offered (if you want to call it that) was that I thought it was ok and liked BvS and MoS... Not sure why I'd have to qualify that or why a different opinion is seen as a defence. I think we get eachother... We are just going back and forth for the sake of it at this point ;)

So, I actually kind of liked this movie. Just saw it last night

I enjoyed the characters, it was fun. and the music was good. The actual story was an after thought.

I'd like a compelation of every Harley Quinn scene. Not only is she incredibly hot, but I thought she was genuinely excellent in the role

Obertans #1 fan.
Thought the music was the worst part of the film myself personally. Watched this on a flight. Was very drunk and found it entertaining in a "this is fecking awful" way.

I haven't enjoyed a superhero movie for quite some time, so for me it was better than most of the other releases in the last two or 3 years

I rewatched it last week, the Uncut version. I agree, it's a decent movie.

Just caught this...it's appallingly bad. I was surprised just how bad it was, actually.

Suicide Squad 2' Will Be A "Total Reboot" Despite Box Office Success

Suicide Squad 2
will be a "complete reboot" and will hit cinemas before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

Both movies will be directed by James Gunn, who was recently reinstated as the director ofGuardians 3, having been previously fired by Disney over the re-emergence of old offensive tweets.

And, speaking recently, DC producer Peter Safran confirmed that Gunn will wrap filming on The Suicide Squad before he moves back to Marvel.

He told JoBlo: "Everybody knows on both sides that Suicide Squad [2] is the priority today and he'll finish that movie and then everybody knows that his next film will be Guardians [3]."

Safran also confirmed that Suicide Squad 2 will be "a total reboot" and not just a sequel - which makes sense, given the lacklustre reviews of the first movie.

(Although the 2016 David Ayer film did win an Oscar. Yes, really.)

"First of all, we don't call it Suicide Squad 2 'cos it's a total reboot," Safran added.
"So, it's The Suicide Squad and I think people should be extremely excited about it.

"It's everything you would hope from a James Gunn script and I think that says a lot and that promises a lot and I know that we will deliver a lot."

The news comes after reports that Will Smith probably won't be returning to The Suicide Squad as Deadshot.

Jesus what a mess. I can see Gunn bailing on this before long. DC being so hit (Wonder Woman & Aquaman) and miss (Pretty much everything else) and needing to reboot some things and replace actors (Afleck and probably Cavill).

Think a reboot is a wise move. DC Universe is such a mess.

Weird, how the hell are they going to manage this with all the Margot Robbie films coming out where she plays Harley unless they are just going to re-use her.

Weirdly I quite liked Suicide squad. The directors cut anyway. Still can’t get my head around Aquaman being perceived as a hit given it’s absolute trash but hey ho. DC just needs to burn everything down and start again as the whole universe looks beyond saving at this point.

I would love if they made another Batman trilogy, based on the Arkham game series. Even including Origins

Probably in the minority but, I am obsessed with those games and the soundtrack on Knight

Robbie has only got Birds of Prey in the works, I think. Gotham City Sirens and the Joker/Harley things have been shoved to a backburner (thankfully in the latter case).

Aquaman is definitely a commercial hit, by far their highest grosser. Still not seen it as it sounded like I'd get a migraine.

You do wonder if Gunn was doing this as a feck you to Disney but will now tame it a lot. To be honest though something just vaguely watchable will be an improvement. I've not seen the director's cut but can't imagine how you turn that tumescent mess with that Joker into something enjoyable.

Shazam is getting some good chatter, if that's successful you'd hope the long mooted Black Adam film gets an actual release date, which could also be good. They're never gonna turn it round to get close to Marvel in success but hopefully some good popcorn films will come out of it (which let's face it is essentially what Marvel films are, but structured together far better so that you can have big event films that work).

Just wish they could get George Miller to do something.

As far as I can see all 4 are still in development or production. SS2 now goes by The Suicide Squad and still has Leto and Robbie in it but has deadshot listed as Idris Elba directed by James Gunn.

Gotham City Sirens
The Emancipation of Harley Quinn
The untitled joker/Harley film

All still in some sort of production. So maybe when they say reboot they are just going to act like that first one never happened and keep some of the same characters as even without the looks Margot was fantastic as Harley.

Anyway yeah the directors cut is far better. There are still some weird editing issues or things that feel like they needed covered more but there is a lot more of Leto’s joker and it makes him a lot more understandable. There is no fixing Cara Delevignes performance though.

Aquaman is up there with BvS or JL standards of bad. It was just awful.

Aquaman wasn't awful. It embraced that it was a comic book hero film with the script and over the top everything and explosive interruptions

The other two tried to be way too serious especially BvS

I thought Aquaman accepted it was awful from the start, which made it more likeable. Though definitely still awful.

Maybe Marvel have ruined my standards but Aquaman was an absolute heap of shite.

DC need to scrap it all and start again in a couple years time. Or just fast track the flash, do a flashpoint and then atleast it will all make sense to the casual viewer.

Depends who directs it but I reckon they will ruin that too

Editing my own posts.
So the new one, by James Gunn, has a pretty eclectic cast...

It’s one of those where at least one name on every line is a potential “hold up wait, what!?” moment..

I kinda liked the movie when I saw it for the first time. Hated it the second time though, no idea why.
From what I know, DC started producing movies (mostly animated) way before marvel did so it's shocking to see how poorly they have handled the DCU Movies. Hopefully the success of Shazam, WW and Aquaman ( I found Shazam and Aquaman meh and WW to be pretty good until the last 1/3rd of the movie which was a mess ) will help them learn from their mistakes and do better in the future.
