Seem to remember home defeats against a league 1 leeds united one sunday morning, defeat to zaleagersaeg or whatever they were called in a champions league qualifier, 0 - 0 draw at home to exeter, and others i’m sure I’m forgetting under the second coming of christ. We won last night no? Agree the juries out on Ole but its one cup game and we did win, we are in round 4 if I am correct?
The difference is those were in the time of "one of those days" because they were odd results, yesterday wasn't, was seeing as be that fecking shite a surprise for anyone really? No. One of those days type performances are our normal, and games where we actually play well are the odd results. I don't get what people who think like you gain from living in the past, it's clear the club has the same issue too.

Still Lukaku was an asset that was worth 80m or something. If a proper manager took over in the summer as you said he would have brought in a replacement. Leaving the squad barebones is absolutely on him.

No midfield reinforcement is also on him. Very unbalanced squad and the whole budget blown on defenders. He will most likely finish the lowest since Fergie retired and deservedly so.
See we can blame Ole for so many things but blaming everything on him is just looking for reasons to blame him. He said many times he wanted replacement for Lukaku, only difference is he didn't make a scene in media and kept everything in the house.

I will make my full judgement on Ole in December. However these next two league games and Europa tie before the international break are so important. We lose all three, he surely has to go.
We are in a real shit way right now and I think Ole is performing as badly as his players. Also the coaches...do we have a finishing, crossing, set piece or positioning coach? What about coaching the ability of being able to pass 6 yards at least. It's a disgrace how bad we are at the basics, like amateur level crap!
What the feck is going on because a shite team from league one that are getting dicked every other week, managed to come to our ground and look no worse than us. It's depressing and I know there are old and young members on the caf but for me this is 100% the worst United team/squad in my life as a fan.
3 wins in 8 so far this season (5 in last 20). Very worrying figures and not many managers in world football would still have a job with this record.
I see no end to this anytime soon and in my opinion Ole will either be walking or getting the chop before the season ends, unless we have a ridiculously good January window and dramatic upturn in form.

I was one of the first to want van Gaal out, but I think he was a decent appointment. Someone to come in and coach an actual style of play, which he did. His methods were outdated, and the end result was bad, but the ideas were there. We actually went into every game - regardless of the level of opposition - wanting to inflict our style on them.

His sacking was completely fair, but hiring José squandered all of his work in getting us to become a possession based team. It set us back years again in the long haul.

What we should've done was hire a manager who had the same beliefs in possession football, but was more progressive and up-to-date than van Gaal to build on what he had already coached. If we had done that instead of going for short term success in José, I think we'd be in a much better position right now.
I went with benefit of hindsight. Van Gaal at that time made sense, same with Jose.

I agree with your last point, we should have had continuity but we hired a manager whose philosophy was 'team possession makes mistakes and lose games'.

Problem is not criticizing Ole the manager, problem is always calling him silly names. Every fan rate manages differently, that's why we always have arguments but some bumbfeck calling him donkey, cretin is just pathetic.
Personally i never do that( ok i admit, i used few times word "fraud" but it was because language barrier). But i must ask you; why players can get abuse like clown, donkey and much more and Ole can't? I never saw that someone stood up for Lukaku, Jones or Matic. But if you call Ole like that( which, i repeat, is not nice), people will say that he is a legend, show some respect or things like that. Rooney is much bigger legend than Ole but man, he was abused a lot.

One would expect a performance like that if the players hadn't trained for weeks and had no manager. You don't need a manager and training sessions to play in this way against Rochdale.
Spot on.

We look like we don't have a manager or training staff.

Even the transfers look like they've been mostly done without a manager.

You have me confused with someone else I think. I only corrected you in regards to Barca clearly having parameters in regards to their managerial hirings. United don't. LVG was hired because he fit their parameters, and then sacked because he wasn't getting the results. Which is what we should be doing. However, we don't have anything beyond playing the youth which is why we have hired LVG and then Mourinho. A lot of our fans want us to just give a certain number of years to any manager we hire, regardless of whether they fit the club or not.

I'm pretty much in agreement with you apart from that minor correction. We can't just stick to Ole based on some loony idea that he'll have a chance of coming good. We stick to a manager that fits us and proves that on the pitch. If that manager then fails, we sack him, but our managerial hiring process should look for the same qualities that fit us.

Barca's board is crap as well, they're only slightly more competent than ours because they at least have parameters that shouldn't be compromised.
Agree with you 100 percent. Why I fear we will always get the next appointment wrong. More luck if we get it right.

How anyone can still support Ole is incredible. We are going backwards under his so called management. We are awful. A half decent manager coming in now could still save our season and get us top four.

Nope. Merely pointing out knee jerk reactions over a cup result where we actually won the game, was just a cup result with our second string out, look at other PL teams results this round doing similar. I Dont get what people get from living to see us lose just so they can run on here to criticise a manager etc. Keep it up though hey? Im sure if you do it enough the board will chop and change manager and spend money until we start to win the quad every season and the self entitled plebs who ‘support’ this club can be happy again. Top fan!!

I thought the match was dire, and we weren't tactically good enough.

Having said that, I also thought we were severely lacking in player quality, such that beating Rochdale players individually was hard for our players to do. For instance, none of the 3 behind the striker could dribble and beat their man until Dan James came on.

Both problems definitely need fixing. I think even if we see an improvement in general play should we hire a better manager, we would struggle in these types of games.
They are 17th in league 1. Rojo could sign for them and play upfront. The players don’t lack quality to beat Rochdale.

No one wants us to lose and be shite, we don't need to wish for it, it's a reality. Having your head in the clouds thinking last night was a one off when it obviously isn't doesn't make you a top fan either, it makes you deluded. If you don't want the best for the club, how are you a better fan exactly? Imagine settling for mediocrity.

I don't agree with abusing any legends. Players who achieved so much for the club will always be the crowd favorite and should be respected. You can always criticize them without using some dumb words.

I'm not sure if someone should really explain why calling Ole silly names is different from someone using sillynames for Lukaku, Matic. Next we have to explain how SAF, Sir Matt Busby, Sir Bobby Charlton are different from Jose, Lukaku, Matic.

See we can blame Ole for so many things but blaming everything on him is just looking for reasons to blame him. He said many times he wanted replacement for Lukaku, only difference is he didn't make a scene in media and kept everything in the house.
We can find plenty of excuses. He was the manager at the time, he oversaw the state of the squad. It is what it is and we are where we are.

Many posters are hellbent trying to find whatever excuses possible just not to accept that he's an average manager.

He said multiple times he's happy with the squad and has to bear the responsibilities of that when he fails. It isn't looking for a reasons. Our football is shite, we have no plan, we didn't properly rebuilt areas in the squad, we left our squad open to injury crisis only if we lose one player. You can blame the management all you want but they haven't got clue about football and deciding the team was ready for the season is on the coaching staff.

Maybe after couple of months of the same shite and him breaking all sorts of negative records would probably make it even harder for you to find any more excuses about him.

If that was Moyes he would have been crucified by now, yet you have fans constantly defending him for being shite. We actually deserve to have him 2-3 more season to finish his 'plan'.

Yet again... who? Ben Yedder? Mandzukic? Dybala (the famous swap deal). He told Lukaku he could go before the window opened so who the hell was his replacement?

Without a DOF. It was silly to leave it to the board to help him with a target. Tell them who the hell you wanted.

Well we know why they are and those names should never get abuse. But Ole the player is not Ole the manager and he sits with Jose, Lukaku and Matic not SAF and SMB. Hence why you might get people calling him silly names.

The way he handled the CF situation was piss poor.

Our attackers were Pereira, Lingard, Chong and Greenwood. The first two are having problems scoring a handful over the course of a season and the last two are talents who are making their first steps. Chelsea could have loaned the 4 of them to a similar club like Rochdale. United are seriously lacking in the attacking department.

I did. Multiple times.

The main point was that he was:
1. Inexperienced (imagine that being a good point).
2. Knows the club
3. Compared to Klopp and Pep for who knows whatever reasons.

The main objection of us appointing a good manager is that we made wrong appointments so far. Which was mental in the first place.
You did? You are a strange fella who seem to get high on misfortune. Also likes to twist things, and somehow it gets under the radar of most.

Still unable to answer the question on coaching I see, and as usual answer questions with another question.

Here is another one for you. And it’s not me calling you stupid!

“Already people are talking of Ole getting the sack. And it can’t get more stupid than that. It can’t be. It would be a complete parody.”
Mark Chapman BBC

And people are criticizing Ole for clapping and smiling!? The mind boggles.. The real fans on the stadium was chanting his name. What was he suppose to do? Give them the finger?

Remove the fact he's a club legend, and not a single person would be defending him, not one. He's getting away with this because of who he is.
Emotions are ruining this club at the moment. We hired manager purely because of that, we give new contracts to players because they were great servants, we wait too long with sacking manager because "we are not that kind of club", etc....

It was a cup result and we did win but the worrying thing was the performance mirrored previous performances, not just for the opening of this season but the last games of last season. Last night wasn't a one off, second string or not. And let's face it, that second string contained some very experienced international players. No disrespect to Rochdale but our second string SHOULD be able to wipe them aside.

I don't like chopping and changing managers, if it was up to me I'd have given LVG another year, but Ole is one of the most lovable legends this club has ever produced and it is awful seeing this happening to him but he is not up to the job and should be taken out of this situation quickly for all of our sake.

What answer about coaching? I've put many posts in relation to coaching, tactics, etc in case you missed them you can scour through the thread.

You have the strong belief that Ole will make it let's put money on it and put it where your mouth is. Are you willing to back your belief or just spout random gibberish?

I didn't for one bit criticized him for clapping and smiling - you are confused once again.

Well who’s fault is that? Like I said with my Rojo point any of our players could go there and bad that team up. Piereira would probably look like Coutinho for them. The point it we didn’t lose because of quality, we lost because of no system and no confidence. But it’s all a mess. Chong has spent two seasons messing around in the reserves where he clearly needs a loan. We sent Andreas to the Spanish league twice and if we really wanted him to play this knuckle up football why wasn’t he sent on loan to Burnley? We are clueless and with no DOF all these failings fall on the manager.

Neither did Chelsea or Liverpool. They didn't have any problems dispatching a lesser team.
What are you talking about? Liverpool did not roll over Dons. They only scored due to a colossal mistake on Dons part. Enough with this "Everyone in the world is better than us" mentality.

Different time and different situation entirely. A huge number of Utd fans had never seen a new manager at the club, and were literally told to back him by Fergie, it's not a surprise the loyalty Moyes got.

People still defended Van Gaal when we had such a shit few months, people defended Jose when everyone and their dog knew it was time to go, even Jose said he deserves to be sacked but people defended him. ManUtd fans will always back manager, at least few of them. People change their opinion at different times.

Maybe create your own view instead of i don’t know. He said he wanted a replacement but all the leaked replacements apart from Ben Yedder was reactive swap deal crap. That tells me he didn’t have a clue who we was trying to get. Again he was happy to have Martial and Rashford. That was the plan.

No, he doesn't sit with Lukaku, Matic or Jose. Ole is Ole, you don't like the manger and want him out? Fair enough. There is no need to call him cretin, donkey and other pathetic names.
No.. he does sit there. He’s a crap manager. Like they was crap player/managers for us.

Certainly Ole has some issues at this level, but to blame him for not signing players is false. That blame goes to the Hooray Henry in charge of the club, Ole always said he wanted another striker and strengthen the midfield.

We were bombarded with names that led to its usual dead end by Woody, after failing to move on the usual a suspects, he ditched Sanchez , Laukaku and Smalling close to the deadline and signed no cover. The common denominator across the last 3 managers and the appointment of Ole, and you choose to blame Ole. Interesting.

Be careful some of the deluded ones on here will swear blind that Ole only intended to use Rashford as a winger. It just goes to show how inept the manager is.

Rashford starts playing as the lead striker, Lukaku despite being in good goal scoring form then becomes unhappy given his treatment. Lukaku leaves during summer, less than three games into the season the manager realises that Marcus is garbage and so decides to give the responsibility to Martial upfront  We have lost 20/25 a season goal scorer to be replaced with two inexperienced inside forward who neither have had a full season as a 9.
I couldn't agree more. On Ole: I don't think I want him out just yet, simply because our problems run way deeper than just the manager. But he hasn't been making things easy for himself.

Football at the highest level today isn't the same sport as it were fifteen years ago, where you could easily get away with the job by just being a manager and very little else. These days a manager at this level needs to be a lot more than that; tactically one has to be adept, on the pitch one needs to direct the team in terms of a definite style of play, basically the whole lot.

He might be a good manager for what it's worth but I don't think he's good enough at this level right now. I just hope he learns fast.
