Don't shoot the messenger but I heard a rumour that all their problems stem from Vertonghen supposedly sleeping with Eriksen's wife and it's sent the dressing room into disarray. Apparently Poch can't solve it. This is why Vertonghen hasn't been offered a new deal. Unsure if it's true but would explain a hell of a let.

He's not 'stuck' till 2024. The likelihood is that in the next year or so he'll be offered a bumper deal to update his contract, probably up to over 200,000.

Why would he rue the day? He's obviously happy if he signs the contracts. He's probably not hugely money obsessed (and hardly going to be struggling on that money) and lives a fairly quiet life with his childhood sweetheart.

He'll regret more the fact that he might not have won much when he retires, I think. He's always got the chance when he enters his thirties to go elsewhere for a last big contract or two where he can make millions.
Come on . You guys are lucky he loves the club and doesn't care about money now. Fact is, he is a top 5 striker and would be paid in that league had he been playing for anyother big team. He will never touch 250k + in his career going by your way of running things.

Verts deserves respect for this somewhat shameful act, not ridicule.

Have you seen Eriksen's wife? I mean, you just would.

Vertonghen liked this multi-tweet rant from Ally Gold, which heavily hinted that it is all about that rumour

They have been offered improved contracts, its their choice that they are still on the salary they are. They are still at Spurs because no other club has even made a bid for them, please tell me who Levy has refused to sell them to? They are choosing to leave on a free for a massive contract. So I disagree with everything you are saying as you clearly have no clue what you are talking about.
Why would any club want to deal with Daniel Levy if they can just wait a season and get those players for nothing?

:houllier: Ummm Toby was available for £25M, wouldn't have to deal with Danny, we were clearly trying to sell Eriksen as we were in talks with Dybala and Fernandez. What's wrong with dealing with Levy, has completed many good deals for us?

Besides any club really wanting a player will pay before the he is free and the likes of Madrid, Barca or Juve get to tempt him with a silly contract.

I'm sure he's completed many good deals for Spurs, it's the other clubs that I'm talking about. Napoli's De Laurentis is the only other owner I can think of who's considered to be as difficult to deal with when it comes to transfer business.

If a player's in demand, he'll get a silly contract in any case. The question is, why pay a fee on top of everything else when you can just wait a year?

Because £25 million for Toby is a bargain in anyone’s book, pay the fee garbage the player or wait and compete for the player with other clubs? Why would any club want a chairman that allows himself to be rodgered by agents, other clubs and players?

Your point is the players are still at the club because no one wanted to deal with Levy, now your agreeing with me initially when I said the players wanted to go on a free????

Jesus. Absolute humiliation. Leaking 7 goals at home to Bayern who aren't exactly flying.

Something majorly wrong at the club it seems. What the hell.

Can't believe Spurs fans on here calling for his head already. Who the hell else is going to come to a frugal club?

Its the the end of Spurs if they sack him.

Its the end of Spurs if he stays as his head is gone.

Back to the old cycle of Levy hiring and firing every 18 months.

Spurs have gotten worse recently. I think Leicester City is going to take them as the new Spurs, aren't they? The likes of Eriksen, Toby, and Vert leaving in summer or winter. I can't see Poch staying longer if he keeps up like this. There's a chance Spur may end up back to midtable.

You know, when United are doing shite I can always come to the Spurs thread for a boost/laugh to lift the spirits.

Shipping 7 goals at home
