Is there really a difference between Poch and Allegri though?

Poch
Age 47,
Win % 54
Points per match 1.87
Goals per match 2.31

Allegri (taking his Milan stats since Juve has been dominating for years)

Age 52
Win % 51
Points per match 1.86
Goals per match 1.69

There is no big difference between him and cafe darling Poch. Goals scored are considerably better but when you have the best striker in the world, you will score more.

Only argument is he did in serie A while Poch did that in epl.

Haha you and me both mate, always thought they were a decent watch but I don't watch them week in week out, time will tell but being at the Spurs game last night it could be Poch to Madrid, Allegri to Spurs, wouldn't surprise me.
Knowing our luck we'd probably get Poch and he will be shite for us and Allegri would take over Spurs and make them good.

This will be a step back to Mourinho type football, which we all hated anyway. No thanks

Managers are judged on an individual basis not proven/unproven basis. We've also had unproven managers (Moyes and Ole) whom individually and combined achieved less than the proven 'failures'
I wouldnt say Moyes was unproven - he was a proven Premier League manager, Ole was a stop gap to fill in for the departure of Jose and he earned the job, although some say it was rash in hindsight but after the run he took us on, no one would have predicted our results since the Arsenal game away last season.

Managers are very much judges on their success hence why they get the jobs in the first place - also regarding the combined 'success' of the proven managers, you also have to factor in the amount of time Moyes had and Ole has had compared to Jose and LVG.

I'd pass. Marco Rose is still my first choice with Nagelsmann not too far behind. I'd take Tuchel too. We need a coach who would be able to implement progressive football.

Well, we didn't want Conte also. To defensive also. To sum it up: we want attacking proven coach who has history of winning things and who also plays with the kids. Easy to find

So your comparison totally ignores Allegri's best work.

Brilliant.

In terms of play style I'd rather Poch or Tuchel, but Allegri is probably still in the top five potential replacements.

It seems like OGS is a dead man walking. Everyone is expecting his sacking and a new manager next summer. Will Man Utd continue with the Brexit United strategy or start all over again with the new manager?

Next year? He'll be lucky to survive next month if our form doesn't change drastically. Personally, I hope we go with the winning strategy. I've never been a fan of sentimentality and nepotism. One silver lining of Solksjaer's appointment being so spectacularly bad, is that hopefully it's purged for good. I would love Allegri to come here as soon as really. We are in dire need of experts at the club.

This thread is absolutely mental. If you asked me to choose any manager in the world right now, it would be Allegri/Simeone/Klopp/Guardiola.

Glad your not in charge then, you are not gonna get the last 2 absolutely so your list is ridiculous and the first 2 are Jose mark twos. The definition of insanity springs to mind?

What? Four absolute world class coaches and luckily Allegri is available. It's a no brainer. If I were a United fan, I'd be hoping OGS gets sacked on the spot should Allegri be interested. Still hoping he'll end up at Chelsea though.

What do you expect? Conte for an example got 9 votes in the last next manager poll here. People here either want Poch or a German manager, nothing else.

I think Poch is best manager that would suit United. Also think the three players that Ole has bought will prove to be good buys.

Any merit in moving Ole to a Director of Football?

Allegri would be a step backwards to Mourinho style.

The 2 I mentioned first are not going to leave their current roles for the shitshow that is united so the list is ridiculous.

Didn’t realise you were a Chelsea fan so that makes sense that you would like Allegri as he is all about winning games short term which is what your history is based on. I don’t want that, I want attractive winning football so don’t believe he is the answer at all. Simeone is cut of the same cloth, he got huge praise yesterday for his teams defending, while I somewhat admire that it’s not what I want to watch week in week out.

Nah, not really. They're the team in England I'd usually like to see do well though. More to do with some of the players they had in the last 15 years, not particularly interested in the current side.

But that's because Moyes and Ole didn't earn the time LVG and Jose did because of poor managerial performances. Moyes and Ole are doing/did so bad in their first seasons combined that they are already in a legit sack race a couple games in.

The brutal truth is the proven managers we are talking down on have done better than the underqualified ones we've had. Point is it's not right to say "but we've tried proven managers" when they are actually the most success we've had compared to the underqualified ones.

There is still one more bullet in the chamber. they can sack Ole and move him upstairs as DOF.

I was one of those 20 percent of people who wasn't for sacking Mourhino because I consider him the greatest defensive manager of all time and probably a good shout for a top 5 manager of all time. Wheter the CAF agrees with me is not the point. The point is that Allegri would be a step down (comparing him to Jose) and the brand of football would not be what we all consider Manchester United.
Mourinhos a historic great but in terms of active managers in 2019 he's nowhere near top tier.

Interesting. They would have to appoint someone somewhat compatible with Ole's vision.

What kind of profound PR stunt could be bringing Giggs back ? Not saying it will work to the letter, but in terms of laying somekind of truly long term foundations this could be at least more interesting than digging up another football fossil in mood of Jose, LvG or even Moyes.

Not really. People would just say Juve were a one man team and so ignored that deliberately.

For the record, I rate him above Poch but not really a fit for us now.

Serie A, Lukau is scoring goals there. Hell, Alexis is even scoring goals in that league.
To be fair, Lukaku has always been prolific goalscorer in Premierleague, scoring over 100 goals here. It’s just that his first touch and body size has been a joke.

Sanchez is hopeless in Man Utd, but he used to top player/goalscorer in Premierleague too.

Why do some people want to move Ole to DOF if we get a replacement manager? His managerial credentials are already in doubt, having managed Cardiff and Molde only. And now people want to move him to DOF? What experience does he have there?? Is it because he's a club legend and he understands United? Are we gonna hurt his feelings if we don't offer him another position?
Shouldn't we be aiming for better and more experienced candidates?

We are Manchester United ffs.

mate, have I got news for you... the problem at United after Ferguson was neither the players nor the coach... the tone was set by the club hierarchy and the way your club is run... if even world class players like de gea & pogba seem just a pile of sh*t, why not good or very good players like lukaku and alexis (and many more in the recent past)?

edit: and more in general, what the feck are you fans doing while descending into mediocrity? That’s one instance where ultras can be useful indeed... with public protests and the like

The experience of buying AWB, Maguire and James apparently. Since they have been declared an absolute success 7 games into the season (nevermind that we have kept 2 clean sheets in the league); Ole has an eye for talent, especially British talent. Or something.

Absolute shambles.
