Well atleast you’ve come to terms he will be go soon and thank god!! He’ll leave us in a worst state than Jose.
No he won't. He's given whoever comes in next a clean slate and a foundation upon which to build from in the form of a strong defence, and he signed up key players like DDG and Martial to long-term contracts when both looked at times, out of the door.

Lack of quality in the side doesn't justify total absence of visible style, gameplan and intensity.
Exactly, Norwich of all clubs posted a video of them outsmarting Manchester City's pressing by quick one-two passing, when was the last time we ever did something like that?

It’s honestly a disgrace he’s left the squad in this state.

At a minimum we can’t change it until January, realistically we won’t change it until next summer.

Baffling he was happy with the squad the way it is and was also happy to let a couple attacking players leave right at the end of the window.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we finish below 10th place without reinforcements in January. By Jan I think we’ll be in 10th-15th place.

Possibly not. Though most of the players have had longer to prove they aren’t good enough.
Ole has got rid of the ones he deemed not good enough anyway. And if we get the right man in, he too can take that call of which players he can elevate to a new level and which players he cannot

OGS has taken one for the team hasn't he. This season was always going to be a write-off and he's sacrificed himself to manage it.

The wage bill was clearly getting out of control, we had too many bench-warmers on high wages and needed a clear-out. He's done that and he's done it as well as anyone could have expected, while promoting a load of kids.

Personally, I don't think he's the man to complete the project but he's certainly done a good job of laying the foundations. Wasn't in favour of him getting the job (and had plenty of arguments on here about it) but have been impressed by him since he took over.
 Taken one for the team.

He's got a job plenty of managers would love to have. Let's face it - this is an honour for Ole not Manchester United.

And he's laid what foundations exactly? Of piss poor football? I like the direction he intended to take us in - youthful, attacking, energetic. And the signings and prominence to youth had been encouraging. I like a manager favouring these things. But you do have to be able to, you know, get your team playing well. And he's been rubbish at that. He's not taking one for the team. He's been given an Incredible opportunity and sadly it appears to be exposing his lack of quality.

That'd be quite a debate that one.

At least he'd be leaving us Maguire, Wan Bissaka and James.

Jose left us Pogba who is quality, but a massive question about his headspace, and Lindelöf, who the jury is still well out on.

Ole has never, ever managed a single world-class player, or even a top-drawer player. There is a very real and very scary probability that Ole actually thinks he has a very good squad at his disposal. Simply because it's a better squad than Cardiff and Molde.
Why would he think that? He’s played with several great players over many, many years. He also trained with them every day. Of course he knows what a good squad is. You don’t have to manage them to know what a good player looks like.

We have no style. At least under Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho - despite its boring nature - we had a style that the team was instructed to play offensively.

We look clueless once the zombie passing gets us to the final third.

I worry for him. We’ve gone backwards in all ways apart from promoting youth - and even then it seems like a horrid time to be a young player being in this squad. Not the best atmosphere for it.

He is a clown and this was coming with bizarre decisions over the summer. Look at the state we are in with literally zero identity or game plan.
Get rid of him and all the other unqualified or plain relics of a staff. Why we don't bring in a completely fresh manager with modem ideas and his own staff I just don't know. Rip up all this united way crap.

I have tried to be positive, to give Ole time, back him for a few windows etc. I do like his plan of going after young hungry talent who want to be at the club etc.

But by christ what has happened to his tactics, when he was temporary his formations/tactics were good, splitting the front men, playing two up top, having a plan A, B and C, it just seems to have absolutely died of death, we play slow pragmatic football that is making my eyes bleed.

Don't think it will matter as a few poor results over the next few weeks and he may well be gone anyway.

It's clear to me Ole doesn't have a clue what the problem is or how to solve it. He thought the squad fitness was the cause and would be the solution yet we have gone backwards. He clearly thinks 4231 is the way forward even though we have no number 10 good enough. He persists in trying to play some sort of possession game even though we don't have the creativity to unlock defenses.

Even during the honeymoon period the warning signs were there because it was always plan A only and subs seem to be forgotten about until the 85th minute.

Seriously, this will not get better and it will be all downhill from here because I just can't see Ed sacking another manager any time soon.

Persisting with Rashford to take FKs, specially ones that are placed in tough angles says it all about Ole's incompetence. It's a little example that illustrates him, completely clueless
We have Mata, Periera and Pogba all better free kick takers than Rashford and yet Rashford takes everything. I just don't get the reason for it.

It's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt when he comes out and says games like today were a "good performance"

You can say that maybe when the team isn't quite at it but when you have one mess of a 90 minutes after another and certain players blatantly taking the piss, you just can't say things like this.

He is telling everyone that no matter how bad it gets he isn't going to try and do anything about it.

Rashford is still shooting from freekicks close to the touchline. Matic is still being picked despite clearly not giving a feck. Players are just token pressing opposition players. We get a corner and take it short with no plan. Our playmaking players deliberately ignore easy forward passes over and over. We clearly do not practice basic game situations or organisation.

There are some players giving their all but there are also numerous aspects to our performances which are completely unacceptable for any level of professional team. We look more like a bunch of lads having a kickabout in the playground than a professional sports outfit.

A coach with half a clue could make immediate noticeable improvements to this team by just fixing very simple problems and demanding some kind of minimum standard in terms of in game discipline
Yep Ole isn't helping himself at all. Its very bizarre and reminds me more of Moyes than LVG or Mou(At least those two had a plan).

His post match interview last night was embarrassing and another post Fergie low point for me. We were utter garbage the least you would expect from the manager is a bit of passion and anger that we let the fans down who traveled long distance on a weekday evening. But no it was all smiles and shit excuses.

For someone trying to imitate SAF, he's doing the worst job I've ever seen on that alone. Imagine being pleased with that shit-show last night.

That interview about the penalty is super embarrassing, especially when AZ had an obvious penalty denied well before the Rashford one.

Said this in the match day thread, but he seems to be at the stage now where he's throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. Never a good period for a manager to be in, as it pretty much confirms that he's out of ideas and has no coherent plan of his own.

What's even more worrying, is that he can't even implement the pressing game that he promised would be a feature of his team. That's the most fundamental thing for a football team at this level. Where's this aggressive pressing style gone? This team doesn't even work hard for feck sake.

I love the guy and i want nothing more than to see him succeed here, but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't worried. I juts don't see it at the moment.

This is worse than Moyes IMO. This is the kind of crisis that we still haven't had. Ole simply isnt cut out to be the Premier League manager. I don't mean Man United. I mean Premier League. Even Cardiff was likely too big for him.

The reason the squad is bad, no one to blame but Ole. Sold Lukaku, got rid of Alex so he can play Greenwood? Gimme a break. What Premier League team can afford that. Developing young British talent? He went in hard for Sean Longstaff who's an unknown over proven internationals that btw would probably cost less. Even if we got Longstaff doubt it would have made much difference. He has this fixation on developing young British talent but nowadays when teams are spending massively that just can't work and that he would focus on players being from a certain place is just mind boggling in this day and age. It's actually kinda insulting too I gotta be honest.

He simply isn't ambitious, talented or intelligent enough for this job and will be gone soon, likely by the end of the month IMO. Norway is probably where he belongs. It's probably his level.

I think nothing wrong with developing young British, or foreign talent. As we’ve seen with Klopp and Pep.

But Ole can’t even develop the talent that he has at his disposal from our academy players, our experienced but young players aged 20-25, or even our older players. Yet somehow Ole has sold a myth that buy young players and he’ll develop them into league winners.

Pereira hasn't shown anything this season to say he's someone who should be leading the line at a conga, let alone Manchester United. McTominay, maybe, but the priority was the league game on Sunday so I could see why he was rested. Garner - like I said, it would have led to a mess of a team with little to no experienced players to guide through the younger players. Matic and Mata have a lot of faults and ideally they should be nowhere near, but there really wasn't much choice. We needed an experienced spine to guide the younger lot, and both of those guys utterly failed in their role.

I don't think any half-decent manager would get much out of this squad which is so imbalanced and lacking in options - we literally have no depth or quality in any position, bar CB and GK. We've seen LvG and Jose, two of the greats, come up with similar performances from players who comprise the bulk of Ole's squad right now. It speaks volumes that the players who are doing well are either Ole's buys, or the kids. That alone should have alarm bells ringing for anyone talking about how a better manager could get more out of this lot.

As it is, I'm most likely resigned to the fate that Ole will probably get sacked at some point this season and we will just have yet another go on the manager merry-go-round and will rinse and repeat in 2-3 years when he inevitably gives up working under the conditions that Ole, Jose, LvG et al have all worked under.

I feel for Ole. Whereas LvG and Jose pissed the best part of £700m up the wall, Ole could only bring in three players, while also having to get rid of the dross without replacing them. It was a recipe for disaster at the outset, and perhaps if we had an egotist in charge like the man we had before, we wouldn't be in quite as precarious a position as we are in now. But Ole put the club before himself, and it looks like he'll pay the ultimate price for it.
Very good pointless insult of Pereira there...I know it's the trend on here so not having a go at you personally but it's getting boring seeing people on here insult players who actually do give their all for us.

It isn't so much about prioritising games. It's about instilling some actual management and standards upon the team. It doesn't matter if it's the PL or the Europa League, players who wont do their jobs properly shouldn't be considered. It's all well and good saying that say, Garner is too inexperienced, and that Matic "failed" to do his job...I could have told you Matic would fail to do his job before the game, because whenever he has played this season he has not even tried to do his job in the first place. It is impossible for a player to do worse than someone who isn't trying. Yet he is still getting picked. I like Mata but the same applies to him. He does not try to pick out forward passes, he does not try to get on the ball. He is not doing his job. What message does this give you about the management of the team as a whole? It is telling you that there are no standards, no requirements, no direction. Do what you want, it doesn't matter, we'll play you anyway.

This isn't a team getting good results where you can afford to give one or two slackers or lost players a chance for the benefit of resting someone else. This is a team that is already in a mess and needs some actual direction. The players doing their jobs and trying to hold things together ARE the ones who are inexperienced or of limited ability. Like Pereira, or James, McTominay etc. You just more or less said the same yourself. This means there is no room at all for passengers, taking luxuries, arsing about with stupid set pieces, etc. ...yet, this team does more of this than literally ANY other team I have seen. Some of the stuff we do during games has me in near disbelief. They are practically crying out for a manager to get a hold of them.

What you are suggesting is that Ole couldn't get any improvement from this team by instilling some kind of discipline and plan. Absolute basic stuff. For example when we get a freekick 700 yards out, Rashford is told not to have a shot at goal. Actually practicing corner routines. Teaching Young to take a throw in less than 15 minutes after the ball has gone off the pitch. Pointing out that walking up to a player 3 seconds after he has the ball and then letting him do whatever he wants with it anyway isn't technically "pressing" him. These aren't things that are down to the squad depth or quality of players. THey are things you see lower league sides (for example, Rochdale), routinely doing much better than us.

That’s not the point is it? Being a good manager and being able to identify good players are two different things. Him only managing Cardiff and Molde has nothing to do with his knowledge or experience of what makes a good squad.

From the outside looking in, as I said in the summer and got loads of flack for it... you are in a mess and OGS is not the man to improve Manchester United on the pitch.

Having said that, there is a dirty job that needs doing in your club. That's cleansing the squad of over paid, under perming players and giving the club an identity back. What you might need to accept is a couple of years of pain to come out the other side better for it. Because I don't see a short term solution for you, it might be a case of letting OGS do the dirty work and then bringing in the better coach to move things forward.

We had a similar issue, the squad here was aging and underperforming. Puel did all the dirty work of establishing a passing team and bringing through young talent. He was then moved on and Rodgers inherited a squad in great shape that just needed some tweaking.

But, you need a long term vision from the top that they believe in and adhere to. If that plan changes season to season or from manager to manager you will continue to drift unless you happen to make an amazing appointment and then get all your signings right very quickly.

And yes, before people say it you're Manchester United and not Leicester... but Liverpool were once Liverpool and mistakes meant they surrendered their position as the dominant force for decades.

Ed has backed all these sods, sadly he hasnt hired the right one yet.
I would say that is not a proven statement. Ed has bought players. Whether he has backed them with the players they asked for, we will find out in the future potentially from these former managers.

He won't be sacked anytime soon, his job is to clear the deadwood and rebuild the squad.
Way things are going there won’t be much choice but to sack him. If he doesn’t win two of next four league games we’ll be in bottom half of table after quarter of the season and will have had relegation form for over half a season since he was made permanent.

Don’t see anyway back from that, has to win Sunday or he’s on the brink.

I'm not sure how true this is as it's a Liverpool fan who has taken great delight in sending me this, however apparently we haven't scored from a set piece in over 200 days... apparently it was on Twitter a few days ago however I dont do Twitter so no way of verifying it.

If it is true that is absolutely shocking and pathetic. It wouldn't surprise me if it is given Rashy's wild free kicks and whenever we take a corner I will sit there thinking "we wont score" however why are we not practicing these things? Why isnt Rashy doing multiple free kick practices or being removed from them. I read Ronaldo's autobiography that he published while still at United and he said how he would regularly stay behind after training to practice his free kicks- wonder if any of our players do that....

Like a lot of ex SAF players, they think can bluff a career in football management by just imitating Fergie, most come up a cropper when imitation stops working and they have to come up with some original idea's.
Lucky for OSG he had Norway to run back to when he was found out at Cardiff.

Pretty calm about this. We'll finish mid table but this has been coming a long time. I don't see the point in an Allegri or a Pochettino coming in and essentially giving up a couple years of their career attempting to build a team here. Ole to finish the clear out and go from there.

The really scary thing I think the 'Ole in' crowd need to get their head around is when you look back at his tenure, the results he had the least influence on were the initial good results - logically the only thing that significantly changed was players' moods and, whilst that's not taking credit away from Ole, it's was essentially Mourinho's United with Pogba given freedom and players actually giving their all again. As time has gone on, you would have expected this to become Ole's team but it's still Jose's United setup, we aren't pressing or playing an attacking brand of football as promised and we still pretty much only score from counters or penalties.

There's nothing to fall back on here; the form guide, what you see on the pitch, the constant overrating of players... it's all rank and we can't just sweep it under the rug because we like Ole.

I’m not even saying sack him now it’s just the reality, if we’re in bottom half of table and in relegation form he’ll get sacked. Watford, Everton etc wouldn’t tolerate this kind of run and eventually Utd won’t.

What work are we letting him finish? Selling players and overpaying for British players? We could find someone better to do that if that’s what club wants.

He doesn't see a problem in anything. He's just glad we were idiots enough to give him his dream job and he's glad to just stick around. Moyes Mk 2.0.

Would we have had the same very thread had we signed Klopp and finished 8th?
May this comparison stop please? Klopp got the job in October or November, without a preseason or summer market. They reached 2 finals in that season and their style improved dramatically too. Was just obvious their defense was setting them back.

We are now in Ole's season after he got his preseason and summer market and we are still shite, down in the league top and playing crap football with zero game plan implemented on the pitch.
