Good teams create more opportunities for officials to get decisions wrong. For example, when we were at our peak, people used to allege we got soft penalty decisions because the refs were terrified of Fergie. The truth is - quite often we'd create a few decent shouts for a penalty per game, and doing that often leads to the referee eventually awarding you one.

If you're a crap team that rarely gets into the opposition box, then maybe once in every 4-5 matches you venture far enough into the opposition penalty area to appeal for a spot kick. The odds are the referee will turn it down, because more often than not referees look for a reason to avoid giving a big decision like that. Now maybe 5 of the last 6 penalty appeals we may have had when we were at our peak under Fergie were turned down, but we kept knocking repeatedly enough to eventually get the answer we wanted.
Exactly. If you add rivalry and confirmation bias on top of that, you get the current state of every Liverpool thread on this forum.

What does United being shit have to do with anything? I've been a detractor of the current use of VAR in the PL since day 1 and citing it a source of impartiality and objectiveness is plain stupid. They never dare overrule the on field ref's decision. There's no right or wrong with VAR in the PL, they just don't do anything. Sit and watch like a spectator.
United being shit means that you attack less, create less chances, and have less "luck" than the better teams. That makes it easier to scream conspiracy whenever another team gets some kind of advantage. Regarding VAR not doing anything, I seem to recall some team from the north west somewhere losing 2 points because VAR overruled the ref just this week. Can't remember their name though, but i think they play in red. Maybe you know them? On a more serious note, calling refs and VAR partial towards certain teams is just conspiracy talk. Yes, VAR may struggle sometimes to figure out exactly where they should intervene, but that is the same for every team. The bottom line is that they get more decisions correct than without VAR.

Have Bournemouth ever done anything of note away against a top six side?

Ok, I'll hold my hands up. I was totally wrong about Abraham, he's in top form right now!

Chelsea's youngsters are so so much better than ours.

Mount looks the best of the lot. Absolute player.

Loftus-Cheek to come back & Reece James to come in too. Fair play to them & fair play to Lampard. They are a great watch too. Hope they win the league.

How have Wolves not managed to be 2-3 goals up. They've had 3 breakaways.

Tammy is on a golden series but he has a very good instinct in front of goal, which will always please managers if he keeps going when numbers drop a bit.

FairPlay to Lampard he’s got this team and youngsters believing in his football.

It just further amplifies how messed up things are at united. We’re the exact opposite with a manager that has no clue and players that are just as bad.

Wait till they play us, a guaranteed win. Then again, I don't think United can be classified as a top 6 side anymore

Aren’t their youngsters about three/four years older than ours?

Abraham is the top scorer in the PL. He's only 22 as well. Replacing him would be incredibly harsh.

They are more in need of defenders.
Yh I think their young players are far superior to our overhyped youth players. Chelsea need to line someone to replace Willian as he's be 32 (I think?) when the ban lifts and then if they do as Liverpool/UNited have had to do to land a top CB, they should bring in someone like Varane and they'd be ready to challenge I think once the likes of Mount, Odoi, Tammy etc have a another full season of experience.
