I'd like to believe so but I don't believe they'll be another collapse by Liverpool (which their form January and February was no matter how much it gets spun otherwise.

They now have the winning feeling so will handle the pressure better, also they seem to be putting a lot of physical and mental energy into getting this title (similar to what we did in 14/15) which this time will probably be enough.
It's not a matter of collapsing, it's understanding that they won't win 38 games or anything close to it. Plus they play City twice.

As if we're going to beat Liverpool. No chance.
Weve been on the receiving end of enough rubbish teams game raising enough to beat us through the years to know its possible. We aspire to be like Middlesbrough

Just woke up to the scores, what the bloody hell City!

And Arsenal are third now, 1 point behind!
What a joke
Pretty sure City are closer to United than they are to us now.

Really didn’t expect them to lose two of their first eight.

Although results have flattered Liverpool, and they're still behind City when it comes to control and creativity, they do look much sharper on both ends of the pitch. Liverpool's concentration in defence and decision making in attack have been superior so far.

@padr81 i only saw the last 10 minutes. What went wrong today?
We were shit buddy. No excuses, slow on the ball. Passing was off and we gifted them chances. One of those games where we have zero penetration. With our current cbs we're incapable of winning ugly.

Two bankers as well, as it's not even last year's Wolves.

Liverpool have been skimping for a few of their games, but have got those lucky last breaks, that's a title winning sign, however many City put past the likes of Watford when in the mood.

Think they fancy Gerrard as future Liverpool manager, so there is hope it will all go t*ts up eventually.
Yep, the big hope is Klopp packs it in after a title win to manage Germany or something, and they inexplicably go for Gerrard, and it all crumbles a bit.

You are telling me an 11 gap wouldn't be the end of us? Thats likely what it will be after Anfield. Titles been over at christmas twice in the last 3 seasons. Chelsea with Conte and than our 100 point season. This season is shaping up just the same.

Given how well you're grinding out points and the fact we can't win ugly and 11 point lead would be insurmountable imho.
First of all a Liverpool win is far from a given, as well as the fact that it’s 8 points before that game.

We had 7 points after New Year last season. Gaps mean nothing in October imo.

I did say "could well be out of" not "will be out of". If its 10 or so points with you having played 4 of the big 6 and us 2. You'll be massive faves. Obv no guarantee.

Last season was different as we were pretty much a juggernaut who got unlucky in 2 games to give you the lead. This season so far we are miles away. We've already conceded more goals this season than we did in double the amount last season.

What's gone wrong with Rashford? I feel he has high ceiling potential wise but he was not mentored properly. Under Klopp or Pep, he'd have been a huge success by now.

God how depressing is it having to watch Fred play? I should be enjoying this as a Pool fan but Fred is just draining my life force.

I remember saying after we lost 4-0 to United that the score was very flattering and that United would struggle this season. I was made fun of.
The quicker United get rid of Ole and bring someone who actually is a manager the better itll be for them.

yeh, i love it when we get written off into obscurity, yet still manage to perform well or win something.
The amount of posts in the table prediction thread that had United and Spurs top 4 and us not even top 6 were mind-blowing.

If the current trajectory continues it will make for some fun reading come May.

Pep 4th season syndrome? Of course, everything is lining up for Liverpool, and City are unlucky with high-profile injuries... but right now, they are now longer in a league of their own together with Pool, just slightly ahead of the rest. Catching Liverpool looks all but impossible already, but last season was basically at the same point after christmas.

Lampard is doing a good job. I must say I am impressed. BUT look at the squad of players he has got to work with compared to what united
has. Chelsea have very good midfielders. They had a good core of players when Lampard took over so its really unfair to compare with Ole's
situation. Yes ole can improve but I also believe if we had similar quality players that Chelsea has, Ole definitely would be doing better.
Some people were saying we were going to finish outside top 6 when Hazard left

People are only saying it now.

On the prediction for the season thread most were claiming United were top 4 and we weren't even top 6.

It's amazing how a club's fortunes can change for the better when they lose a key player. We've been a much better side since Coutinho left. & I always felt that Steven Gerrard's influence - as good as he was - never helped us progress the way we could have. Chelsea look a much better unit without Hazard. They now have other outlets to play through rather than relying on Eden Hazard all the time, that makes them a lot more difficult to play against. I'd have them nailed on for that top 4 spot.

Listen Man United might not thank me but get the contract out, put it on the table. Let him sign it. Let him write whatever numbers he wants to put on there, given what he's done since he's come in.

Ole's at the wheel man. He's doing it. He's doing his thing. Man United are BACK

What an unbelievable weekend.
We win with an exhilarating injury time winner against one of the better teams we'll play this season to equal the best ever start made to the league.
City lose at home to give us an 8 point lead after 8 games.
United lose again and stride towards breaking negative records in the bottom half of the table.
And Everton lose to drop into the relegation zone.

Don't think the table will look as beautiful again this season as it does right now.

So basically we're winning the title once we sell Pogba? :D

What does United have to do with anything of this?
United supporters opinion regarding ref decisions are affected by how you do. If you were better you would create more chances, meaning you would have more dubious decisions go your way, and you wouldn't be as worked up about some decisions going other teams way. This is besides the point though.

Where did I talk of 'any' bias?
When you said that VAR isn't impartial and objective.

All I'm saying is VAR is useless(unless there is offside involved). There have been so many shocking calls already and I've already given the examples. Rodri, D silva, Martial etc.. just to name a few. Stonewall pens not given because the on field ref didn't call it.
So you move the goalposts here and exclude offside decisions. Nice. There have been some wrong calls, yes. But it still gets more right than you would without VAR. I don't care that there are examples of things it has gotten wrong. In the end it improves the accuracy of the refs decisions.

'When you said VAR isn't impartial and objective'

I clearly meant that they were partial to the refs onfield, not to particular teams ffs. Unsurprised it went right over your head.

'So you move the goalposts here and exclude decisions. Nice. '
They are ofcourse used for offsides and mistaken identity, isn't that obvious? Move the goalposts ffs.

I watched the final 10 minutes and saw a fair few aimless crosses going into the box which seemed so unlike this City side, even when you're up against it. De Bruyne is obviously a huge miss but are players like Mahrez doing enough when they come in?

There was something a miss with them at the back end of last season aswell but they ground it out in the end. Leicester had their number but a 1 in 1000 strike saved them.

I think they have peaked from their absolute top level under Pep and his selections at Everton suggest he's going all out for the CL this season which may well give you a similar procession to what they themselves had in 2018.

If we're winning the league it'll be on the last day and be an absolute struggle.

Our last three fixtures are Arsenal (a), Chelsea (h) & Newcastle (a).
