Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
I can see that. "Hey all you lot spending a fortune to watch United play, be careful not to turn on the ownership of the club, otherwise we'll sell to new owners who will sign all the best players in the world and try to make United the best football team in the World again."
They know most fans want to remain a respected club rather than hoping we are owned by the most disgusting people on earth.

False.

Most people are anti-Trump
Most people are anti-Brexit

As in, you talk to people in public and that's the general consensus you'll most likely gather, definitely in my experience. Which to me illustrates one thing, people are not honest.

Most fans would probably say they are anti-Saudi ownership too, and all this, "rather be relegated"/"done with the club if it happens" talk is all well and good. But I don't believe most fans would be against it. I'm definitely not.

I understand what you're saying. My stance of being owned by the Saudis has wained some what. I really wanted them to begin with but maybe not so much now.

However, I'm desperate to see my club back. United, for me, is like my religion. It is ingrained in me. Manchester United is more than just a sports club for me. Now, not everyone has that same passion, and I understand. But I'm so desperate to be back to where we should be, I'll take the Saudis. This maybe is helped by the fact I don't do politics much. Sad but true.
My thoughts as well. The desire to get Man United back to it's rightful position overwhelms my resistance against the Saudi takeover.

Begrudgingly I've started watch that City programme on Amazon. Scary how far behind we have fallen. We just need some real footballing guys back in and make us successful. Even if it was under the Glazer's, so be it. But it doesn't look like that will happen.

Sadly many don't though. They just want to win at all costs. They want a team full of galacticos purchased rather than built. It's all about the glory and prestige and wanting it now, despite the fact United was built by workers and our greatest teams were built by hard working managers (Busby and Ferguson) with teams crafted from local talent and pure determination and hard work.

Manchester United do not have a god given right to be top. What rightful position? United have always been a team that challenged. It had periods of dominance the same as Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa, Leeds, Nottingham Forrest.... Yes United have won more but things need to be put in to perspective here. The league has been around for over 130 years and United have won it 20 times. They have won the Champions league 3 times and the F.A Cup 12 times in a competition that has been around over 140 years. United challenge! They compete, and at times dominate but those times need to be appreciated not taken for granted.

I love United because it's part of me, win, lose whatever. However I need to be proud of my club and even though i dislike the current owners and hate how poorly we are performing, I'm proud that our current manager loves our club as much as I do. He's trying to build a team in a similar way to the ones he played in and I support him fully. It's all part of football. What fecks me off more is how well Liverpool are doing and how well they are playing. United could be in the conference as long as the Scousers were below us that would be fine. BUT! That pride in my club comes from history. History that was earned through hard work and principles and those principles are the ones that stop at the win at all costs mentality. Winning isn't everything and when the price of winning is being owned by someone who tortures and murders people for fun and who presides over one of the most oppressive regimes on Earth, that's when I draw the line.

I love United but I'm not blinded by the fact I could help coach them to play better. Ole is in the same position.

I'm not too sure how many fans want galactico's at the club? It has never worked at this club

People thinking that the Saudis are the same as Qatar or UAE should reevaluate their opinion. I'm not saying that UAE or Qatar have western values or their ownership is anything other than sportswashing, but compared to the Saudis they are like libertarian free states.

https://freedomhouse.org/report/freedom-world/2019/saudi-arabia

And the influence of their theological leaders is one of the main reasons as for why they are what they are. They give legitimacy to the ruler of the kingdom in return for power and influence over the people.

We have hardly bought any galacticos in their prime and who wanted to be here.

On one hand we have leaches who are slowly killing our club. They also fund Israel which in my opinion are worse than the Saudis.

On the other hand we have a regime who are desperate to improve their public image, and will use us to do that. They will buy us anything we want, improve our facilities, all so everyone will like them. Their regime is pretty evil though.

No brainier for me.
I don't think the Glazers fund the nation of Israel.

We desperately need owners with ambition but not the House of Saud and their blood money.

We should all protest for the glazers to sell up, get them out and start putting the money generated back into the club rather than their pockets, we need new players, stadium needs updated, get them out!

I won't be, if there is any shred of truth in that article then the Saudi interest is genuine and the news cycle has moved on from that terrible murder of the journalist so it could be finally possible to do without too much bad press. But I think the Glazers will be targeting something in the region of $4b to $5b and will sell for any figure closer to that. The big pile of cash on offer and facing huge investment commitments whilst being at war with the fans should make them consider their position.
Maybe because I want it so badly is why I just can’t see it happening, having them sell up would be just too positive for us right now because the doom and gloom over the last few years seems to be stinking up every fibre of the club.

I have a stupid question. My understanding was that MUFC had no debt until the glazers took out a massive loan to buy the club.

Where did the money go from the loan (was it to share holders)?
I believe shareholders were recompensed with loans taken out from NY & London hedge funds ( among others ) who enjoyed, in the early days, prior to refinancing, up to £60m plus, annual fees ( or whatever the specific management fee type, quid pro quo, term is? ).

Woodward saying the Glazers are in it for the long term means less than nothing.

If it was the Glazers themselves saying it who knows.

Watch this space. The Glazers are smart enough to have amassed both an incredible fortune anyway, and another one from rinsing us.
They'll surely know that value isn't going much higher, and they may well want to sod it all off.

So conflicted about this.
How can anyone with half a brain be conflicted. Obviously the Saudi regime is hideous and we could never even contemplate a football team with anything to do with it. The Glazers are just shit owners.

Glazer's are not going to advertise that they're leaving when they leave since that would negatively affect the share price. They want to maximise their profit. I think that while we are midtable, they will not sell. They'll wait til we're in Europe again.

It'd be interesting to hear how hard this current period is for them? The rewards of owning a colossal football club in Europe are high but so are the pitfalls. The American sport franchise system, specially the NFL kind is basically socialism for billionaires. TV money is shared, salary caps keep costs down and there is no danger of relegation or staying out competitions that bring in extra revenue. If you're the worst, you get your pick of all the best talent in the NFL draft. And once your stadium starts looking worse for wear, you can threaten to relocate and get the state/city to finance one for you.

If our country see fit to sell arms to the Saudi, then no issues to be owners of Utd.

I think perhaps you should google the meaning of the word conflicted.

You need to Google the meaning of morals, ethics and conscience.
Get off your horse.

I do not want murderers to be the owners of United.
I want United to be successfull again which requires owners that are ambitious and are not going to take money out of the club - nobody is going to be afford this club except people with questionable ethics.
Hence I am conflicted.

I just want United to challenge and to play good, fast attacking football. If they win I want it to be earned and not bought like City or Chelsea.

I love my club and always have, I just hate a large percentage of its supporters and their attitude and the way they portray themselves as the true supporters of this club.

The club that you love so much would be a PR machine and a toy for one of the most, lets say controversial regimes out there.

Not that it matters but i hope it doesn't happen. I'd rather stick with the Glazers.

Saudi Arabia is worse than the UAE and Qatar on most levels that can be measured or compared to western values.
And while the other countries certainly are no angels, at least they have seen the importance of having good PR backing them and that theology should not influence everything in ones state. In Saudi Arabia, the theological leaders give credibility to the royal family as long as their values adhere to the views of the theological leaders.
