Congratulations on being the only sane person in this godforsaken forum.
I have a tension headache from reading the heartache that goes on here.

Its like the concept: Manager under wild pressure goes to a though away game and plays: 4 regular starters, players who desperately neef matching, and players who cant legally drink beer, and he STILL gets shit on. Just. Why.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say any game Mata starts we’re basically playing with ten men
This is a classic post. Clueless, but sums up how I feel about this forum, especially on match day.

We got a win and that's 3 points on the road. Damn this place is filled with so much negativity that it is sickening. The doom and gloom idiots are out in full force.

But he's a nice guy..like our manager.
We can argue about whether the manager is any good. We can debate the value of some of the players.

Mata, however, has consistently stunk the place out for 3/4 years now. Still somehow at the club on £165K per week.

I would genuinely rather get relegated playing the tea lady in his place than watch him pick up a wage for that

Where was the good performance? Did you watch the game?
Yes, I did. And considering the threadbare squad we’ve got and the changes we made after a tough match against Liverpool, to ride out a win in front of a home support that hasn’t seen their team lose in 10 or 11 European fixtures is a positive. I thought our younger players held their nerve in key moments of a testy fixture and largely did what was asked of them. It wasn’t a “vintage”
Manchester United performance but anyone who was expecting anything resembling one seriously needs to reassess their expectations of this current squad.

anybody who is defending the shit these players and club are putting out there is deluding themselves. Besides garner and williams this was a team full of starters or international players. Only shot on goal comes from a penalty. If partizan had any finishing ability they wouldve won by 2 or 3 easily. This isn't an away match under SAF in champions league where we go to a top european team and played for the away draw/snatch a win. Freaking partizan belgrade.

You should check my post history. I’m actually one of our most positive posters!

I just can’t stand to see Mata on the pitch. It’s like when someone’s Dad fills in at football training and it’s embarrassing how god awful they are to the point where you feel sorry for them (almost)

*Culture* blah blah *identity* blah *British* blah blah *Effort* blah.

Zero shots on blahing target against another dud team.

Thanks but no thanks Ole. This culture is the most boring insipid football I've ever seen.
We hit the post, mctominay steared it outside the net for no good reason, we scored, and played 4 starters, teenagers and players who need match testing.

Didnt we JUST have a fantastic team game with our first team against Liverpool?

Complain to complain because angercomplain?

I wish we had a single player that would take on others. Just some excitement. Just a little bit. None. Absolutely none for 90 mins for the whole of the season now apart from the Chelsea game.

I guarantee that 99.9% of the criers on here never ever attend matches because the match going United fans seem to have more patience with what's going on . Instead of crying be positive that we got an away win and Williams and Garner played very well

All the united players who started can legally drink beer in the UK.

Maguire looked every bit captain material and bar one moment was outstanding as was Brandon.

Mata on the other hand remains anonymous in games bar a few sideways passes....he offers nothing, it’s so glaringly obvious.

Lingard was poor too but he does try to link the play and goes forward once a game

I agree with the sentiment but fans can still be critical of senior players who time and time again offer nothing.

As many posters have pointed out, our best outfield players tonight were Williams, AWB, Garner and McTominay. Four of the youngest players.

I don’t see why we can’t expect more from the likes of Lingard, who only last Summer was having a good World Cup with England or Mata who is supposed to be one of our more creative players - lest we forget earns £165K a week!

The football was poor but that's nothing new. It was a tough away game and we ended the away hoodoo so gotta take the positives.

Two takeaways from the season so far: We play like shit and get a lot of penalties, like has to be among the top in Europe. At least we won.

Not a great thing to say but this mediocre rubbish we put on week in and out is destroying my love of the game.
Didn't watch, didn't care but cared enough to come here to make a negative comment. With fans like you who needs enemies. sick and tired of the negativity and insults toward

I am glad to see Mr Penalties keeping up his good record this season. Where would we be without him. Certainly nowhere if having to rely scoring in open play & our only shot on target showed.

Yay, we got a result but the performance was bad. You can't sustain results playing like this. At some point we have to play better. This is a weak group and the aim should be to win Europa, I think thats our best shot at CL.
They will be better teams in the next rounds, we need to play better if we are going to beat these teams. There's nothing wrong with expecting better. Noone went into this season expecting to win anything. We just wanted the CL spot. It's a low bar for a club like this, and were unlikely to pass it. People have a right to be disappointed

Yet another absolutely dreadful performance. We can't be surprised. This garbage will continue for the rest of the season, it's going to be slow and painful

Finally an away win. It’s nothing new going away to a dodgy ground, loads of changes in the side and struggling over the line, we’ve done that for years. Take the positives we won, gave a few youngsters game time. Let’s not dwell on it, we’ve got the 3 points. fingers crossed for Sunday now.

Although I thought playing a back three could be good for the team, it certainly didn't work tonight. There was a gap between the defence and midfield, which Partizan utilized after the first 30 minutes or so. It appeared as though the back three were reluctant to push forward too far and leave space behind them, we need pace in there. Great result, poor display, apart from Romero and Williams. Garner did ok, but needs more minutes. Possibly Maguire's poorest display in a United shirt, Jones and Rojo always have a mistake or two in them, need to move them out eventually. McTominay was decent, but some passes were poor. Mata a couple of good deliveries into the box, Lingard made some good runs, and tried to link up with Martial and then Rashford, but too many times the attack fizzled out. Martial got 60 minutes, and hopefully another step on the road to full fitness, as did AWB. Williams my MOM. We need to play at a much higher pace than what we did tonight, and get the defence to push higher up the pitch

3 pts, away win in hostile ground with with a team made up of players coming back, young lads and first teamers. No classic, but happy with that, take it and move on to the next one.

It seems the 'positivity' brigade is out in full force to prove how much more knowledgeable they are and how their top red status is not to be disputed.

Meanwhile in the real world, we are rudderless, don't seem to be playing under any particular philosophy and cannot produce a shot on goal to save our lives. Mata and Lingard are useless and our manager is not much different. Greenwood again didn't start even though he scored the winner in our other win in this competition (but Rashie recorded another appearance).

Also in the real world, AZ hammered a team we struggled to beat at home and showed how clueless we look on the football pitch. The only good thing about this game was Brandon Williams and the fact we have seemingly secured qualification for the next round, barring some awful results at home.

I await more sanctimonious preaching from the top red brigade.

Didn't get why Ole gave Mctominay so much forward licence when he'd started Garner. I'd Have kept him back a bit considering Garners inexperience. But with Lingard and Mata up there we'd have created nothing. Would have made more sence to start Greenwood with Martial and have Lingard behind

Away win. Played the toughest two fixtures in our group - of which we are top. Many personnel changes. Youngsters given a run and acquitted themselves well enough.

It's not pretty, but we held the dippers on Sunday and won away in Europe. This week could have been so much worse.

14th place in the league for a reason. We have been dire for a while. So not sure what people were expecting to happen magically this game. We start with a whole largely changed team, playing in a new setup. We got a lot of things wrong but, the most important one for today was get the win and hopefully no more injuries.

Postives
- Martial got 60 minutes after a long time out and a goal. Thought he actually started off decent, showed strength in hold up play, was able to turn a few times.
- Williams had a very good game. Patience though is needed, not the savior
- Garner a start for first team. Not ready but, only way he has a chance is loan or for now will be is once he plays a bit more a times.
- Clear as day that Mata and Lingard can't start but, Rashford and James needed a rest, so did Perreira probably and Pogba wasn't an option. Ole probably knows it but, had to play them.
- Ole seems to be at least willing to work outside of his preferred system based on who he has available.

One thing that did worry me though was how our CBs let their front players receive the ball in between the lines and immediately fallback. Gave them too many chances to run at them and turn them inside out. Need a better way to defend in those situations as Ole does want to risk 3v3 in order to try get more bodies forward.

Guess the other thing is just still not seeing the adjustments tactically in game from Ole when yet another team gets on top. Like how do adjust in this game so that we were better able to retain possession, even sterile possession to take the sting out them.

Any new negatives? No. New positives? Yes, certainly, Williams.

My conclusion is that it was actually a step forward, albeit in a not particularly exciting way. Whether the progress is sufficiently fast is another matter, but it is detectable at least.
