EL W Europa League Group L

Partizan 0:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Thu, 24 October 2019

I’ve watched better and more experienced United teams lose dozen of European away matches over the last 25 years supporting them. So to put in a good performance and win in Belgrade with the likes of Garner, McTominay and Williams starting is a great result for us.

Our only shot on target was the penalty.

Trash of a performance.

What was the game plan? What football were we playing?

Throughout the match there was no hope us scoring from open play. We are manchester united ffs. How long this is going to continue?

All clueless, short-passers and back-passers. No ambition, no adventure, no desire, no intensity. Just pass the ball to the nearest player and job done. What worse! this virus is affecting the new youngsters.

Williams was a stand out player though. Good match for kid.

We won a tough away game.

Gave Garner his debut

Gave Williams his start.

Big psychologically because it's not easy to win in an atmosphere like that, especially when we've not won an away game since PSG.

Happy, sort of.

Finally got that away win monkey off our backs, so positive there. Top of the group, minutes for Williams and Garner, clean sheet, minutes for Martial and Wan Bissaka coming back from injury.

Sadly, the positives pretty much end there. This game reminded my why I hate seeing Lingard and Jones in the starting 11. Mata seems unable to pass the ball forward. Still, away win and focus on the game against Norwich. All you can do is win the next game in this kind of form.

A wins a win
But my god that was pretty poor.
I would question what we are practising mid week, corners, free kicks. The delivery is absolutley appaling. No shots on target apart from pen. It’s making a hard watch.

There is always that one guy with a down to earth perspective of things. Begone heathen.

Shite game and shite football. They deserved a draw at least the way they were playing.

Jones with a peak Jones performance. That midfield couldn't hold onto to the ball to save their lives. And please, just please get rid of Lingard in the summer.

Jose looks like prime Pep compared to Ole's defensive football. He needs to go, nothing has changed.

Positives : Williams was good, and the reason why we won basically. Also our first away win after what seemed like a year. No injuries, and some players rested.

Where was the good performance? Did you watch the game?

Good win but awful performance.

No attacking nous at all.

Worrying for Ole.

If Ole comes out in his post match interview all smiles and starts praising the boys for a good performance, I may lose my shit.

MUFC against an unknown team in an unknown country with players who would struggle against Wrexham (that’s bad).
They had more shots and Utd had no shots on target.
How the hell could one of the biggest clubs in the world gain any positives from this? Scholes and Van Persia looked suitably unimpressed.

Well done to Williams and now good competition for Shaw as Young will now be no longer needed as back up.
We were lucky to string five passes together but we do defend better with Harry in the side.
Norwich will be shaking in their boots!

Whoopdidoo finally got an away win, but it’s really bittersweet as we’re still totally incapable of scoring more than 1 goal or playing positively!

I watched us lose to Zalaegerszeg, sure, but this match is a culmination of the crap performances over the past 8 months. I have no idea how you saw that as a good performance. We didn't have a shot on target aside from the penalty.

All those highly paid players couldn't even muster a shot on target except with a pen. We haven't a hope in this competition come February.

Happy we managed to hold the lead until the end. Still woeful in attack, martial looks way off the pace. Williams looks a great prospect. Lingard did ok. Scott mc looks a player now. Maguire is immense..
always look on the bright side.....

Partizan deserved a goal but glad to get an away win and Williams, Romero, Bissaka had good games, Maguire good as well.

Just poor again in attack and the few things we do create we piss it up the wall. We're anti-football at the moment

Our goals per game this season:
4 1 1 1 1 1 0 1 1 0 0 1 1

Impressive really. 13 goals in 13 games.

  • Top of the League!
  • 1st away win since PSG!
  • Williams looks more than ready for the 1st team
  • Clean sheet
  • Garner debut (nervy)
  • No injuries
  • Martial 1st start since injury, and goal
Negatives
  • Shocking performance,
  • acid trip of a formation and tactics,
  • Lingard
  • Mata

Jones, what's he even doing playing football at this stage?

Utter dreck

Happy to win but obviously the performance again wasn't good enough.
Positives performances from Garner and especially Williams, the seniors were embarrassing again though.
If it carries on as it is Solskjaer will eventually lose his job.
Hopefully we get three points on the weekend, we'll have to play a lot better than that to win though.

Maybe as good as we did against Liverpool? With a COMPLETELY different set of players?
