Fantastic performance, England put in an incredible shift and strangled the All Blacks, who looked lost as the game wore on. And also seemed to lose their heads towards the end.

I find it weird its being hailed as some big upset though, this was the worlds 2nd ranked team beating the 1st, can you really call that an upset?

I was doubting you simply because it was against the All Blacks and well, they're a great side & back to back world champions. Totally shut down today though.
Yeah they’re still obviously a good side - this result doesn’t change that. Just going by what I’ve seen of England leading up to this World Cup and then in it. They were just on a great trajectory and peaking at the right team. They just have a great combination of everything.

I also wasn’t that impressed by NZ in their win against South Africa or Ireland. Ireland were woeful and I seen a few things from NZ that I thought England could exploit. Still had to play their arses off, of course.

But I don’t give Wales or South Africa a chance really.

I hope if Wales do get there then Jones doesn't either :)

Simply down to the hegemony of NZ. They'd not lost a World Cup game since 2007.

Some lost their heads from the start. Barrett had a few daft kicks and threw an intercept.

As a result of England's win, the race to succeed Steve Hansen as New Zealand coach has been blown wide open. I can see Jeremy Paul praying Scott Robertson doesn't get the All Black coaching job in the hope the outstanding Crusaders coach would be available to coach the Wallabies.

The age profile of this England side is terrifying!

I think Youngs and Lawes are 30 with everyone else well under it and a good few of the key men still under 25! England will always produce good players but since 2003, the rest of us have been fortunate that they've not been able to bring through backrows worth a shite. Now they have their heirs to Hill and Back and the two feckers are 21 and 23! Apparently one of them has a younger brother who's even better as well!

To say I was shocked to discover Mako Vunipola is only 28 today was an understatement. I genuinely thought he was around the same age as Rory Best. 28 is still a virgin in prop years!

Just watched it.
England were amazing and practically faultless. NZ were terrible and England harried them all over the field.
England must be favourites now.

The fact that the Welsh produced there one genuine open side flanker could come back to haunt them next week

Alan Whine Jones? You're talking about one of the modern greats there and you act like no other captain tries to influence the ref? Bizarre.
But true;) Yes he’s been a great player but he moans more than most. Owen Farrell is respectful even to Nigel Owens the Mike Dean of Rugby. England were relentless. The All Blacks have rarely been up against this pace and power for 80 minutes. Think it will be a closer game against the Boks but all things being equal, England should win.

Who do England prefer to play in the final? Losing to Wales would be unbearable.
Yes. I don’t mind Wales. But I know some (nee most) people would probably say Owen Farrell is the least likeable person in rugby but for me I can’t stand Gatland. I think him winning would give him an additional smugness

A big team, so the Boks. ;)

Absolutely correct. Our fellow home nations fans appear to be learning.

If, in according to scientists a trillion to one scenario, Wales somehow do win it .. we can claim it as an English victory anyhow on account of Wales not being a real country.

New Zealand have been building up to that sort of performance for some time now. So many of their forwards lack the dynamism that makes New Zealand a unique rugby side . Hansen has seemed to have a reputation over form mantra when it comes to his forward line. The dynamic forwards in New Zealand have struggled to get a look in while these guys seem to play all the time regardless of how they do.

Don't let anyone lie to you but Reid hasnt been pulling up any trees for some time now. Neither has Whitelock. But they are legends and they havent looked at potential replacements. It also didnt help that Squire has issues. The great white hope came to the tournament carrying an injury. The new front row seemed to be put together in the 11th hour.

Its so strange to see New Zealand make so many changes a year outside the world cup. Not so long ago they told us Ioane was the best left winger in the world, now he isnt even on the bench. Ben Smith got discarded even after he seemed to reclaim his best form. Naholo didnt even make the squad. Mo'unga got thrown into the deep end randomly. Really strange series of events and it led to tears.

This thread is a terrifying glimpse into how unbearable squishy would be if Spurs won stuff

Apologies to the welsh, I’ve stuck a tenner on you at 3.6
The odds seem great to me.....you’ll definitely lose now though

Masterclass defence by England, they didn't allow New Zealand any time on the ball at all. Apart from the line out mistake NZ had no answer, they never came close to scoring.

Good. Tend to watch England v Wales games with a group of friends that's pretty evenly split on who they support. Thought of Welsh win is terrifying

Yeah I’m not keen on a Welsh win. They will be the very definition of game raising bastards against us as well

Gatland looks like a Halfords manager awaiting judgement on a possible prison sentence.

Poor from both sides. Wales have looked good with the ball in hand, yet they’re kicking it away all the time
