There was an encouraging spell at the beginning where I started to feel (naively) that maybe we had turned a corner in our style of play. But of course, it all came crashing down. I think Martial, Rashford and James are keepers, but we need a clear upgrade on Pereira. I love McTominay, but his passing continues to be hit and miss. Fred was ok. AWB had a game to forget and Lindelof didn't exactly inspire confidence. As for Maguire, I think he's ok, but I'm struggling to see how he is much of an upgrade on Smalling. Where are the surging runs that we were promised?

And another thing that pisses me off is how there is no crispness to our passing. The number of times the likes of Lindelof plays a sideways pass behind the target is beyond count. For a team that rarely dribbles through teams, we don't look like work on our passing sharpness very much. Just uninspired dross (again.)

Awful tactics. Awful team selection. Awful (first) substitution.

Ole’s at the wheel.

Bournemouth. Effing Bournemouth. Just very poor again. If James didn't spend so long on the ground he'd have a massive effect and I didn't even realise he'd gone off.

Maguire cost more than the whole Bournemouth team and what did he do?

Massive massive let down.

We need to get rid of this players asap: FRED, Lingard, Young, Pereira (Pereira could stay as a decent squad player). Lindelof on the bench. Then buy proper replacements hor them. We also need better tactics which is on Ole..

It's quiet simple. Swap the two managers and we would have won the game today. Ole's miles out of his depth and watching Utd these days is worse than getting your toe nails pulled by pliers.

Frustrating that the moment we concede you just feel like the game is lost. We just can't break a team down. The moment they nicked the first goal, you just knew we were not getting anything out of the game.

Only bright side was a couple of the kids got a few more minutes under their belts

Special mention to Andreas who continues to start PL games and continues to be shockingly average in every way. If only he was half as good as he thinks he is with his terrible decision making and choosing to shoot when passing is the obvious option.
We manage to get all the least Brazilian Brazilians ever.

The easiest way to win or draw against us is just to put 8 men behind the ball. We can't break down defences.
Kinda agree with you. We should just play the underdog role whomever we play. Just play defensively and try to counter. There is no point trying to dominate possession or take the initiative. We are simply not good enough. May as well admit it and stop saying we are Man United blah blah blah.

Hardly surprising tbh. This club isn't winning anything worth winning for a long time.
Not with players like Pogba in it who can not be bothered to even jog about. We need more players that are willing to put a shift in and put themselves about. Bournemouth are not a great, world-class team, but they work their socks off and it's plain to see that's bearing fruits for them?

Tired of these overpaid, sulky, primadonna, frauds playing for our club.

This is just where united are at the moment. We’re gonna be hit and miss until we get abit more quality. Bring on January.

One thing I do hope is Ole gives Brandon more of a chance. He’s better than Young. The Exp will do him the world of good going forward

lowest points tally at this stage since 1986/87 :/

Weekend ruined, absolute shite and so predictable. This massive gap at the bottom of very page on RedCafe was annoying me a little before the game but now it's just infuriating!

Nowhere near as bad as before our 3 game winning streak. Created enough to deserve a win. Sure as hell didn't deserve to lose. But of course, Redcafe will scream for Ole's head yet again since they have had to hold that garbage in for a few weeks since we have been winning a few games.

Our central defensive partnership isn't working, obvious the chemistry between Lindelof and Maguire just isn't there. Williams will come good once he gets a start ahead of Young, which he won't of course. We need still need a proper no.10 and no.9 to support the likes of James, Rashford and Martial as the latter two are neither of those.

You got half the squad bottom table quality (lingard, perreira, mata, young, jones)
you got a quarter midtable quality squad (McT, AWB, Lindelof, Matic)
You got a few top 4 material (DDG, Pogba when he's arsed, martial perhaps as subs, rashford subs)
You got a championship level manager
You languished at 12th

The math looks solid, what else do you expect?

Funnily enough people were moaning at Jose being a defensive manager, yet are willing to accept playing as an underdog to every team with a mediocre one at helm.:houllier:

I was so looking forward to this and after the first 10 minutes I thought this is going to be fun. I didn't get to see the Cup win and the EFL win so I was ready for a good match and possible victory.

We need a good AM. Andreas does not have the quality to create chances. Maybe Pogba can fill this role when he comes back. Regardless, though, we MUST BUY a quality AM in January.

They told me to calm my plastic self down and everything would be fine when Martial was fit again and we would end up going on this amazing winning run.

Outside of that legendary three win streak, it’s horrible football with bad results. A manager can get by with only one of those two characteristics but both is a no-no. The subs are made far too late. Did we pass up Bruno Fernandes to give Pereira, Mata and Lingard chances and thought they were good enough?

I don’t think Bournemouth needed to play out of their skins to beat us either.

If you lose to bournemouth, then you deserve to lose.

How in the world can you say we created enough to win when we can't even score a goal.

The ref was incredibly poor. Bournemouth did everything to spoil the game and won with a sucker punch. We should've had a pen and Bournemouth a man sent off.

Having said that, we were shite and created diddly until the last ten minutes of the game. A draw would've been a fair result.

Feck football.
We never looked like getting an equaliser save that Greenwood strike against the post. Bournemouth were crap but they were better than us. We were unbelievably poor.

To be fair, all the players plays much better than the games in September. The passing in midfield and defensive line are better now, however, it is not enough to win a match... I think our attacking midfield position is so weak. Pereira is working hard but he seems do not know how to organise an attack and how to pass the ball to forwards. I think his passing rate is less than 40%. All our players has significant weaknesses... Rashford always miss the header from the passing from our goalkeeper and Martial sometimes too weak and never get the explosive sprints like Drogba. Lingard sometimes plays like Messi while sometimes plays like a shit. And Solskjaer should instruct more players to get into the box and should replace Pereira by Lingard at the half time. So, I think the whole team has to take responsibility and learn this lesson.

I don't think we were as terrible as is being suggested here. We know we're weak on creativity, but we should have had a penalty, they should have had a red card, Greenwood hit the post, and McT struck a nice shot that the keeper parried but it fell fortunately to their defender.

De Gea had to make one good save, and he could do little with the sucker punch goal right on half time, which came through poor defending.

By no means were we brilliant today, but I definitely don't think we deserved to lose that game today.

I suppose so. Most of our efforts were straight at their keeper. It's a sad indictment of where the club is at. So easy to play against.

We never commit players going forward and still concede almost every game. At one point we were desperate to score yet only one player was in the box for the cross.

What the hell is going on? What's the point of whipping in crosses if we are outnumbered 6-1, 6-2 in the box?

Joe Cole: "we didn't know Pereira was (sic) playing"

Could have said the same about most of the team.

Tiddly stadium, tiny crowd and fanbase, minimal resources, squad cost squat, not scored since September......beat United ffs.

Are you surprised? Every single time we look like we're kicking on these players will dissappoint. They simply are not very good.

We are still losing these type of games week after week, always with the same excuses"weren't that bad" blah blah blah and yet after 90 minutes the same result.

We weren’t terrible today but we weren’t very good against Chelsea or Partizan and won those games. We’re a midtable team, playing midtable tactics with a manager nowhere near good enough.

This is what our season will be, it will be fine lines between a win and defeat, that’s how Ole sets the team up.

It all comes down to tactics again. They were sitting back and we changed nothing. James is no good in these type of games yet we kept him on till the 80th minute. Williams didore when he came on than Young. We needed players to unlock a stubborn defence. Ole didn't read the game and only changed anything AGAIN too late. That's cost us today.

Like purgatory we watch the team plodding around the pitch pretending to be professional footballers knowing full well what the outcome would be.

There is no escape from this misery, you put incompetent people in charge and incompetence is exactly what you get!
I love this
We desperately need creative midfielders in January

Can't really fault the players' effort or commitment today, but surprising absolutely nobody at all, we are chronically short on quality in all areas.

Results like this aren't at all surprising any more. People over-estimate our highs ("three away wins on the bounce, we're back"), and our lows ("Ole is a league 2 manager who is dragging these players into the championship"). The reality is that we're about where we should be - we're a young, inexperienced, ridiculously imbalanced squad hugely lacking quality in all areas. We can work hard and get a result with a bit of luck (Liverpool, Chelsea, PSG), but we're nowhere near good enough or consistent enough to be confident of a win against anyone. There will be a lot more 'shock' results like this against mid-table and lower teams this season.

Perhaps more worrying is that we look poorly coached, particularly in attack. There doesn't seem to be any progression and we look just as clueless at how to break down a low block as we did against Wolves. Plus after hitting the ground running at the start of the season, the performances of all three of our new signings seem to be waning.

Unsurprising but still disappointing and a stark reminder of where we are as a club.

An awful performance again . This is without a doubt the worst squad I have seen at United since we were relegated back in the 70’s

pereira
Young
Fred
Lingard

how on earth can this dross be regular starters for us .I worry that we are still 2 months away from being able to recruit We are desperate for a minimum 2 midfielders and a goal scorer .

we should definitely beg Zlatan to come back on a short contract the team needs a focal point and a leader no one else any good will join us in January and if we don’t get someone up front then mid table will be best we could achieve.

This is going to happen versus every deep sitting team. We just don't have anything to beat them. We will keep getting results out of positive teams

I don’t think people were moaning b/c Jose was defensive. People were moaning also b/c he was an utter ass and burned all bridges with management and players so he was toxic. So I don’t get what the point of your post is and the smugness behind it. Unless you are one of those Jose worshippers no matter what the problem was.

Awful tactics. Awful team selection. Awful (first) substitution.

Ole’s at the wheel.
The formation and tactics were shit, but that was the strongest XI we could have put out bar Young for Williams..
