Let's hope the US presidency doesn't become a gloryhole for a succession of billionaires.

Republicans after Trump s tax forms become public knowledge: Donald Trump was a smart businessman and instead gave all his money to make sure his employees were paid and boosting the US economy all without nearly taking a cent for himself! He's an American hero!
And look there is this liberal rich elitist who s worth actual billions who got rich off your backs.

Only 16% of Democrats prefer to see someone else other than existing candidates to run.

Filling deadlines to register for most primaries are up in the next few weeks.

If Mikey does it, all he will accomplish is making TV stations in Iowa and New Hampshire slightly richer.

Bloomberg should run on the Republican ticket and give Trump a run in the primaries.
Oh good you’re back. We’re still waiting on a reply from you in the impeachment thread.

No one one this forum thinks he will? What does this even mean?
I have not seen anyone on this forum saying the senate will impeach him. Your argument is that there is no evidence of wrong doing. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

If Bloomberg or some equivalent gets the nomination, I think I’ll just opt into the “let everything burn and kill me faster” mentality and vote Trump.

It’s inconceivable to me that either Warren or Bernie would be allowed to win. In a fair and just world, Bernie would win. But the wealthy Democratic donors will not allow that to happen. The corporate media has already painted Bernie as some sort of angry man that wants to take your money away and Warren as some elitist HLS professor that wants to take your doctor/insurance away. Biden’s on life support, so a new centrist white knight in Bloomberg has appeared. I’m sure he’ll connect so well with coal miners in West Virginia, the steel workers in OH/PA and the auto workers in Michigan.

All we need now is Lady Hillary to all but guarantee a second Trump term.

Bloomberg is way too young to be president. He would only be 80 when he takes up office.

Pragmatism is good, but you've crossed the line far into cynicism if you think Bloomberg is part of some sort of centrist plot. For one thing, Bloomberg doesn't have a chance in hell of actually doing well. But more importantly, if he did do well, he would be taking support from Biden and Buttigieg, making it more likely that Warren or Sanders take the nomination.

This is Bloomberg being Bloomberg, a rich, white old man who thinks he deserves to run for president. Because that's just something one does if one is a rich, white old man. Just like Steyer.

Isnt Alabama in Super Tuesday - do they have an early filing date or is he just giving up on Iowa, New Hamshire, Nevada and South Carolina - I would have thought it pretty much impossible to just kick of a campaign for Super Tuesday as you would loose all coverage and any initial momentum from announcing by not competing in the first 4?

And perhaps his name recognition is significantly higher in the states but i would have thought the only people who could jump in the race at this point and actually make an impact would be Oprah, Hillary and (Michelle) Obama

The only reason Alabama is mentioned is because it has an early filing deadline. The other ones are later, so he would still be in all the other states if he decides to run.

ok thanks that makes sense - though i would guess a launch so late into Iowa where most candidates have people on the ground and have been building for a while would be difficult - and probably impossible to get on the November debates (probably needs to get in the polls pretty quick to even have a chance of making the December debates?)

True, although when you’re worth $51billion that can be fixed rather quickly.

Well it would certainly help - that said I would assume that a team / structure / campaign strategy would need to be fairly advanced in the background by this point as gaining traction / coverage (other than bombarding the TV with adverts over thanksgiving and Xmas would be difficult) - especially if you announced so late you didnt have time to get the polling figures for the november and december debates?

i guess he could just leave the democratic primary alone and run as an independent with $51bn if he wanted though

Do you want someone who takes the time to chop up a cinnamon roll, only to still not eat it with your hands?

These corporatist robots are getting closer and closer to passing the Turing test. Once they weed out shit like this we’re doomed.
