Weird being an irish fan watching this knowing we have some very promising young players coming through with a manager like Stephen Kenny who should get the best out of them and have the team playing good football yet we have to wait to McCarthy gets his final little fling out of his squad out of the way first

Ireland's sole tactic is to get it into Shane Duffy's forehead.

Should we be playing to the strengths of our 5 goal a season striker instead? Some of you guys really don't understand that all nations don't have an abundance of incredible players. We couldn't play "good" football even if we wanted to.

Edit: I'm pretty sure our front men have a combined total of less than 10 international goals.

That Italian midfield - I'd love for United to go for Tonali or Barella. Or both!

It'd be just like Ireland to beat the Danes at home only to miss out on qualification cos the Swiss sh*t the bed against Gibraltar
Calm down lads, we'll win this for sure. Should be 3:0 up already. And with Gibraltar tiring during second half i can't see our team bottle it.

But Georgia are blessed with such talent? It's complete non-sense as usual. You don't need Messi to attempt something at least resembling football.

We have a squad of players who play in teams that don't promote good football and have a dinosaur of a manager who played this type of football when we had a far better team in 00-02. Not saying we shouldn't try just pointing out it's silly to expect anything else right now. Hopefully that will change under Kenny but it'll have to be witht he likes of McClean out of the squad. This is who we are at this moment in time and there's no point in being pissed off about it.

Yep. We have scored 16 goals total since the Swiss battered us 2 years ago, and none of those scorers have scored more than once.

We are doing well so far. Possibly lucky that Denmark are also crap.

Both our games against them were slim leads during the first half, but then we destroyed them in the second, I am sure they will capitulate

We've done well today. I'll expect more under Kenny football wise but right now it's nice to see us be competitive.

Heard the stadium explode from my house so I checked LiveScore and see Glenn Whelan’s got booked. Standard.
