I think Poch could well do a Klopp and turn us down if we offered him the job. He would look at the players then have Ed giving him the Disney pitch and think feck this, I`m off to Munich.

"One of our worst halves to date" is becoming a new mantra.

Every month we seem to keep having our worst halves to date...

We’ve been completely shit, but wasn’t there a foul on Jones in the buildup to the goal?
This is a Manchester United forum.

If you ask that question here, people are going to be biased against Jones.

If you want an opinion that favours United, you have to ask a neutral.

Anyone complaining about the starting XI.. please tell me which Xi would have done better... and what subs do you want to make?

Take a defender off and put on Lingard or Mata against this physical side?

    Who else?
garner instead of Jones and play a midfield 3.

I have seen some poor performances over the years, but this first 45 minutes is quite possibly the worst I have ever seen us play. Credit to Southmapton, they have been by far the better team, and the hungrier team. The only player who can hold their head up so far is De Gea. Ole needs to make half time subs. If he doesn't, then I'm really going to start questioning him. This formation isn't working. I don't blame him for starting this way with all our injuries, but it's not working. Not to mention the fact that any time we do get in the offensive 3rd (which isn't very often), our offensive players are making the wrong touches. Their first touch keeps going in the direction of a defender. Know who's around you and touch it the other way. And what was Jones doing on that goal? Why is he playing the guy onside when Maguire is 5 yards ahead. Get in front of him and he's offside. And when that doesn't happen, just play it out, or make sure you are goal side and not beside their player so you can get a foul call. The thing about Jones is that he was playing well. He was working really hard and putting his all into it, but it seems as though whenever he makes a mistake it costs us a goal. Either way, Ole, for the love of god, make some halftime subs because this is not working at all. We are making Southampton look like Barcelona...

Sheffield really are an impressive outfit. First time I have seen this overloading of the wings tactic live and we are really struggling with it. I have to say though that I don't think we are struggling due to tactics as much as personnel. Our left side is weak, with Williams, a kid, and Jones, 1st league start, and they're exploiting this. Our midfield is expectedly dire, Pereira just is shocking technically for a Brazilian. Would have preferred to see Garner, but we just don't have many options. The forwards have been immobile and sloppy in passing too. Could be a post-international break hangover.

De Gea has been awesome though. I do think we have started to counter them, and could still get a goal, but I am not confident of not conceding again, they're so slick.

Just want to see us take better care of the ball, move better, and we may need to make early subs of Pereira and Williams for Garner and Young.

For their goal, if we scored that it would be given as a foul every time.

I like Williams' attitude, however, he presents the same issue as Ashley Young in that he's just so reticent to play on his left, consequently, he's constantly shifting onto his right foot. There's no balance with Williams on the left.

All Jones had to do was keep his body between his opponent and the ball. Defending 101

And who's fault is that? Why didnt we at the very least replace fellaini and herrera?
Couldn't spend anymore i asume. Also 3 center mids injured at the same time when you play with 2 in a double pivot is a rather exeptional situation.

Mc Sauce absence clearly there to see, our midfield is losing every battle and quality is poor, fred and andreas need to step up second half...

Goal shouldn't have stood. However, we've been utter shit.
Agreed. Sat back waiting for the whistle then it never came. People would prefer criticise Jones than call the foul. But that gets given as a foul 9 times out of 10.

A blatant foul in the build up to the goal.
Other than that it's been average at best, from both teams.
They want it more, we look slow and tired.

All valid points except we're paying sheffield united not southampton :)

So why is it a foul when Rashford does it?
    Inconsistent referee.

I dont think it is foul. It is annoying to see big strong defender jump to the floor after a little push and win a foul that way.

Referees have to be consistent and let these situations go more often. If Jones really wants to stay on his feet he would but he wanted to win a foul.

Whenever there’s a push in the back and you don’t get the ball it’s a foul - apart from when it’s us apparently.

Not as if Sheffield were a surprise package. We knew what we were getting into.
This annoys me more than anything else.

It's appalling how unprepared and incapable of handling what was obviously going to be coming at us in this game.

That's dire management. Our players are poor, but, again, the lack of fight and steel is inexcusable.

seriously are people trying to compare the shoulder to shoulder on jones vs the clearly from behind on rashford? I mean personally i hate the shoulder to shoulder crap that players are allowed to get away with, but that is the rule i believe. What is ridic is how easy jones got thrown off there by a guy half his size. Rashford literally just shoves the guy from behind in one of those stupid fouls id fine players for if i were boss. So many times you see just the stupid brainless foul that allows pressure to be eased.

Is Ole the worst manager in the league? I'm struggling to think of anyone who'd do a worse job than this.
I've often wondered this myself. It's easier to ask the question is there any other EPL manager you'd be confident Ole is better than? I'm not sure there is any.

BTW, some people still support Ole because he has made 3 good signings. To me, AWB need to step up in attacking play considering he cost 50mil. James is not really top tier signing and Macguire is the overpriced signing.

There are things I like about Pereira, but he’s very close to a zero out of ten performance today
