He doesn't want to play for us. Gone in 5 weeks.??
It doesn't seem as if he wants to play for us. Maybe he is not playing for due to not risking get an injury to rule himself out of a transfer in the next window. He may have been having a casual meeting with Zidane but it all seems too odd.

I think he may go in the next window but I think that would leave us drastically short on numbers I want to see him go. But would only let him go in January if he definitely had another midfielder ready to come in for him, although i think we will need at least a replacement plus at least another midfielder in the next window. Although this may be hard to do until the summer and I think we may bring in a few loan signings to get us through until the summer.

Also when he said it would be a dream to play under Zidane, doesn't sound as if he's that committed to us. If Real Madrid are interested in him and Mbappe as I've read, I think they will find it hard to fund both deals and I have a feeling Pogba might be off to Juventus.

And the french FA went with it too, while France had multiple key players injured and wasn't qualified for the Euro.
All while his agent - among the top 100 dickheads in the entire universe - has sat idly by and watch his prized asset going around with a few kg of unnecessary plaster on his foot?

I frankly don’t even care anymore.Cant even blame him to be fair,I”m sure he doesn’t fancy spending the peak of his career under Ole,and if he wants to leave, then let’s just sell him.let’s not keep players who aren’t fully committed...

It's like these idiots think he's doing all this to just keep up an act.

He and Ole have hatched a plan so that Pogba can skive off work for 2 months, then get a huge transfer fee in January.

The club are perfectly happy to have their major asset not playing, the club are happy paying his wages while he's faking injury.

Oh and they're happy to sell him In January when we cannot buy a replacement
He's the devil incarnate for some. It's just weird how much some want to rid of arguably the best outfield player we have.

If there is a player that we want involved in a deal with any of the 3 clubs interested in him, then it could happen. But I feel there is something going on when a figure of 128 million is being thrown around now. It was 180 million in the summer.

That's not what he said,, he was asked a frankly shitty question and went with the generic "Real Madrid is a dream for everyone" but he is a United player and happy at United.

The thing is, he’s now given them all the perfect crutch. The reason now is simply because he ‘doesn’t want to be here’. There’s literally been nothing in the press (perhaps apart from some Don Balon article) about any sort of rift, any indication that one of the highest profile players in the world is ‘on strike’ and trying to force himself out of the club, a forensic focus on any post that could be spun to suit their narrative, a complete ignorance of any post that contradicts their narrative and then just sheer conjecture to fill in the remaining blanks. Add it all up, it’s weak, but it’s something to go on in order to validate the real underlying issue.

All this ‘get x amount and reinvest’ stuff - tell me who? Who are these attainable replacements that are better than Paul Pogba? Every week he’s been out, he still seems to be managing to offend and upset people over and over again. Some have declared they ‘have had enough’ now. Enough of what exactly? He’s not done anything except be injured this season. He’s not spent the last few months releasing info to the press or trying to force his way out either. Yet anger has clearly been growing towards him more and more every week.

If it is just football reasons, as some are trying to make the case that they simply want Pogba to leave because he isn’t a good enough footballer for their liking - they seem to have a lot more time for footballers who are a lot worse. ‘Because they care and he doesn’t’ apparently? Where has this come from? Just generalisation and stereotype as far as I can see. We don’t know what will happen with him in the future (contrary to much of the conclusions that have been drawn out of more hope than expectation in here). We have been here before with Rooney, Keane, Rio and De Gea recently, they have all signed new deals. And this ‘situation’ is nowhere near most of those either. If people are honest, this narrative that he’s trying to force his way out is something many have constructed to make them feel better about their dislike. He’s a United player, and a long way from being the worst one. These replacements I see listed are also worse footballers than Pogba too.

This has been the case since his first season. Both on here and in the football media as a whole. Back then it was ‘they wasted £90m on Pogba, why didn’t they get Dele Alli?’. Since then, some sort of narrative of , to use Gary Neville’s words, ‘typical selfish Pogba’ has been constructed, with little actual evidence to go on. His current crime is being injured. People are now claiming to be authority on what he should be doing at every moment of his recovery, and using any deviation of that as ‘evidence’ of his lack of commitment.

He didn’t ask to be the most expensive player either. He’s a footballer, and he’s just playing his football. You think it’s not good enough, that’s fair. Why has that led to the degree of resentment? ‘We just need him out ASAP’. The best midfielder we have? Is that how you build a top side.

Can't wait for him to leave. So all the fans that spewed venom against him can enjoy Pereira and Lingard. It's what they deserve.

I don't get the over the top hate for Pogba. Like so many fans take it so personally. In this day and age, no club in this world is entitled to have utmost loyalty from star players or any player for that matter. If the guy wants to win trophies and is good enough to play for clubs that consistently do, then he can do that. You also have to consider the context of the current state of the club. We're kind of trash from upper management to football management, to at least half the squad. And there's no clear sign that we're going to make the big moves to get our shit together and start competing again. So unless you are a die hard fan of the club, why would you compromise your career to persist with the status quo? Personally speaking, I sure as feck wouldn't, and I'm a fan.

All that said, I'm still extremely frustrated with how his tenure turned out here. I really expected better but this guy's time here is done sooner or later.
It's sad but this is true. I don't condone how vocal he has been on occasion but it's not like other players haven't done the same in the past. He should be in the prime of his career and we're battling to stay in the top 10 as it stands, there's a serious disconnect between what he was sold and the reality of where we are and there has been for some time. Given how inconsistent he is for us, if we can get a large fee for him it could actually help with us rebuilding given we seem to be now a bit tighter with net spend.

@Rozay , I agree, there is definitely an agenda from a large section of support when it comes to Pogba.

I agree he has been very frustrating at times with consistency, but when you look at his numbers and ability compared to our other midfielders and then compare the shite that fans throw at Pogba it’s pretty clear to see.

He’s never once spoken out of turn against the club, all reports from inside and outside the club say he’s a hugely popular and positive figure in the dressing room.

Aside from consistency I don’t see where the excessive hate comes from, especially when you look at the tripe he’s been playing with at times.

When you have a relatively poor side, at least by United standards, lambasting your best player who out performs your other players in both goals and assists isn’t the best way to go about things.

He literally threw a few shots at the basket. He was hardly running around playing a full blown court match ffs

There's a big difference between being able to walk around, and then playing 90 minutes at premier league pace. Why can't people understand this? It's like they've never played sport in their lives.
I wasn't sure how much basketball he was playing. I originally didn't know that it was just throwing a few shots. Thanks for the information :)

Is there any player, or manager’s tenure you have been pleased with over the last 4 years? We have struggled as a team, as a club.

If you want loyalty, buy a dog!
The days of Bumpy Johnson type loyalties are gone. There are very few people out there with integrity.

I don't care if Pogba stays or goes, all i care about is that he does his best until he leaves. There are hundreds of players out there and if we want them we can get them.

As Pogba has only played 5 games this season, we are getting more from Pereira and Lingard than him. If he doesn't want to be here, it's better that we cash in.

It does seem strange to me that the price in the summer was £180m and now it is £128m. Maybe the club thinks that no-one would be willing to pay £180m and that is why the price we want for him has dropped so drastically. I would prefer to take a player in part exchange as I'm not convinced the club would fully invest the fee in transfers.

Pretty much, it's difficult to expect loyaly when clubs and fans show none of it themselves. At the end of the day Pogba and every other current United players are professionals, they are playing for this football club because it's the one that is paying them and/or allowing them to fulfill their ambitions, if one of these two things aren't true players will leave or won't sign for us. Conversely if a player doesn't match our ambitions, we will happily get rid of him or not play him.

Pogba hasn't performed subpar though, since 2016 he has been performing like one of the best CMs in the league. And your second sentence is where problems start, Pogba has never been the driving force of any midfield and he never really had the characteristic to be one, he is also better today than he was with Juventus or France prior to 2016.

The thing about Pogba is that he wasn't worth 90m and he was overrated by people that clearly didn't watch him play regularly.

Or maybe the 128 million has already been mentioned by one of these clubs or Pogba's agent. It's strange how they came up with this figure all of a sudden.

To me it seems like although there was criticism, much of it valid IMO since the beginning, the vitriolic and irrational hate has risen to new levels last year, ironically when Pogba had his best season ever in terms of end product. Like some say, he is not the midfield general that maybe some thought he would be and his tenure here coincided with us having a generally crap squad, so venting towards the players that are actually good can be understood since they are the ones you expect the most from.

So what happened last year to make the situation so much worse, imo is the Mourinho "effect". It is no secret that Mou has a lot of very passionate fans and from what i've seen, when the "special one" started to fall apart and to tear in to his players, the club and especially the "virus" comments, that was the moment the Pogba hate reached new heights. I actually know a person that doesn't care for United but fallows them now hopping they fail at every turn, to, in his mind, vindicate Mourinho. Fanboyism is a real thing and it's not manifested just by loving whomever you are a fanboy of, but also hating the "competition" (see the Messi vs Ronaldo wars) or those that you regard as the reason for your beloved ones failure.

Unfortunately people are spreading a lot of misinformation to suit their agenda. I can see why it would rub people up the wrong way if they don't like him, but doing what he did was extremely harmless. It's a bone issue that needs to avoid contact - it doesn't mean he can't walk or run. We've seen he's using the zero gravity treadmills a lot so they're wanting him to avoid any heavy strain running.

I think it's clear he's had an issue with this ankle for a while so they're being extra cautious.

There is a feeling abroad that he won't play again for the club. Given what Jose said about him being a virus in the dressing room, one suspects Ole is quite glad he's not around. I wouldn't be surprised if he was gone at Xmas and played perfectly comfortably thereafter.

A great post. Nice to see somebody still has their head screwed on.

It's clear that people believe the news papers and the daily "fake news" stories. He's in the papers regularly which is why they're "fed up of him" I think they're all a little confused personally.

He's not everybody's cup of tea as a player, I can see why people don't like his style if they've grown up with workhorses. But most of this isn't born out of that, it's pure hatred created by the media and people like Mourinho attacking him publicly with his own agenda. Mourinho obviously knew Pogba was the power player in the dressing room and tried to take him down to maintain control over a slipping slope of his tenure at United.

All of this extra hatred stems from the comments of Pogba being a virus. There's been a huge uptake since that point.

I think the fact that he also just posts himself having fun and enjoying his life really rubs them up the wrong way too.

Interesting point you make, which I think may be correct. It could well be that Raiola is trying to offer him around for that price as he thinks that there is no way that the interested teams are willing to pay the £180m and that he is trying to offer him for a lower price to get the transfer concluded as soon as possible.

United would have to agree with that price also. But it's a big drop in what we were looking for in the summer, so we really must want to sell quickly, or something already in the pipeline.

Mate, I appreciate that you always try to put your opinions forward in a thorough way, but you've made it very clear that you have very specific reasons personally that make you very biased towards Pogba.

It's no wonder that even the more balanced comments about the player seem like harassment or abuse to you, whereas the truth is that a lot of people are 100% correct in their frustrations with Pogba.

We really do in some sections of support have a pathetic fan base Pogba is the only reason Solskjaer attained the permanent appointment. His form last season influenced our winning run, he was instrumental in everything: the balance of play, goals, assists. It's ridiculous fans ridiculed him at OT last season he was our best player and when on song still is.

But the issue is you can only mention United and the success of the club with the metric of time, if your a world class player in the peak of your career is it worth the risk of placing your faith in the process and then in three years time we are still falling short. There's too many aspects going against why Pogba should stay unfortunately and it stems from the glazers right down to the management of this team.

I wasn't sure what the exact issue with him ankle as I read on https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-pogba/verletzungen/spieler/122153 that it was ankle problems and was hoping it would say the exact injury. As he already had a previous ankle injury this year prior to this one. I'm wondering if they are connected and we are being careful not to bring him back to early in case it causes further injury and keeps him out for longer.

Baffles me why fans cant see Pogba as a failed transfer.

Incredible really.

Insane fee, insane wages and the guys form/commitment/attitude have warranted nothing but criticism.

He's egotistical, over hyped and believes in his own self worth more than anything else.

I've never been a fan of his coming back, and am absolutely sick of debating over this guy. He's shown at times glimpses, but never more. He's never grown into the player we hoped he would and he's caused way more problems than he's solved. Hell, we changed formations and signed players to "get the best out of him" and he's still been bang average.

He's been an absolute flop here for the 2nd time. We've put up with him for "marketing reasons" and cashed in on his name and shirt sales. Footballing wise, it's hard to justify.

He's been angling for a move for nearly 2 seasons yet sections of our fans still adore him and cant see a future without him. Time to wake up and move on
Well said, just a shame some others cannot see this too.

United would have to agree with that price also. But it's a big drop in what we were looking for in the summer, so we really must want to sell quickly, or something already in the pipeline.
Considering how concerned our owners are about making money. It makes me think that we have someone lined up like you said. I hope have someone ready if he goes, as I couldn't see the owners willing to lose a potential £52m, unless he has really p!ssed them off or made a deal with them for them to somehow let him go for that price. Confuses me.

How is he footballing wise hard to justify, when he's our top scorer and assister? What more can he do than be the best in our team

I have no issue with balanced criticism of the player. I have issue with the personal attacks and resentment of the player.

With regards to criticism of him as a player - cool. But to what degree? There’s one thing him not being the best player in the world, there is another in wanting him out at all costs, even to be replaced with inferior players. If the personal shit is put aside, then we’re still talking about a player who was in the team of the year, and produces a good number of goals and assists, not to mention the consistent creation of numerous chances. If he has flaws, cool, I’d admit them. He still manages to do a few things right on the football pitch sometimes. To the extent where he’s still the best player we have, so logic would dictate that if we are talking footy and trying to build a top team - there shouldn’t be such a fixation of removing him. Unless it’s personal, which it clearly looks to be for me. The very basis of this thread was to attack his character as opposed to his football. And it found sympathy with many who share such a view, one that is backed up with minimal fact.

Is it really that hard to be a top scorer at Manchester United anymore? We are really, really shite.

Our owners aren't particularly concerned about making money, if they were the club wouldn't have added +100m in our wage bill over the last 24 months.
