Some fascinating footage from nearby. Gives an indication on how quick news travels and the level of the 'terror and panic' such events have on people nearby.

Nice to see the public pile on and give him a good shoe'ing.
Seems like it was needed, but at the same time the fella was ignoring police orders by staying on him. If there was a bomb involved it could’ve fecked shit up. Don’t want to slate the guy though because I’m sure it was 100% needed (restraining him like that)

Yeah. He's brave and all but as soon as the police give an order or are in control he needs to get the feck out of there

Wtf is that chap getting out of his pocket and throwing on the ground... Seems strange that would be high on his priority list considering he's got the knife in his hand
You know I noticed that also. Very stange indeed.

Yeah. I wonder what happened at that moment.

@TheReligion - Any views on why an armed police officer would do that? Whats the training protocol to initiate such decisions?
I'm assuming you've heard about the mock suicide vest now.

I would imagine this guy has gone into a premises near the bridge, attacked people and been chased down by members of the public on the bridge. Police called and turn up to see that going on, members of the public are holding him down and say he's got a device on, police pull them off and shoot him dead.

@sammsky1 also with regards to protocol I won't go into detail. That said you can use reasonable force to defend yourself and others if you have an honest held believe it's necessary. If you take a life it must be absolutely necessary to do so.

I'd probably shit myself and outpace Usain Bolt.

Police done the right thing, you can't tell if something is real or fake from a quick look. Definitely had to shoot just incase it was a bomb, can be set off in an instant.

Everyone reacted in the correct manner and bravely luckily.

I'd imagine a suicide best with potential to blow up would mean it's necessary in this instance?

If the cop gets fecked for this it's ridiculous.

Seems an entirely appropriate response given the circumstances.

Thanks for reply and your insight.

Yes am aware of the hoax vest statement. VDO shows the police to be assessing the situation, and then the officer takes a deliberate calculated decision and shoots.

Being told that Suspect is wearing a bomb vest is certainly grounds to protect self and others! Also it reduces suitable places to shoot so really only leaves a head shot as the certain way to eliminate the threat.

We are lucky to such brave policemen.

Ruined his weekend now
hahaha I said to my colleague I wonder what he's chucking away, looked really suspicious. To be fair he was acting odd in all of the video I just assumed it was nerves, who the hell would hang onto the knife like that with armed police around?

A different angle here

This guy is ridiculously suspicious

Although the object in his hand doesn’t seem to have any glare to it, why does he have to hold it by what looks like a handle and what did he throw away. Very weird.
