He’s cringe. How he has been handed the reins to one of the most valuable CFB broadcasts for so long is baffling.

Virginia is fixing to get smashed and will be 3 losses, tied with Louisville, with Louisville having the head to head win. That’s how I see it playing out at least.

Louisville is 7-5 and not in the ACC champ game, which puts Virginia at 9-4 ahead of them in the pecking order even if they get beaten badly by Clemson.

Also, Virginia Tech should be ahead of Louisville based on a tied ACC, but better overall record.

Louisville will most likely end up in the Sun, Music City, or Military Bowl.

Hmm, kinda surprising but Chris Petersen stepped down as head coach at UDub. If there was any doubt that Eason was leaving, this prolly seals it.

If he really is stepping down to take a sabbatical, then I totally get it.

I’ve been fortunate to coach with a DC that had coached in the ACC and an OC that coached in the Sun Belt, and they’ve told us how tough the grind is coaching college ball. You basically never leave. Wives and kids come to visit at the football offices because the coaches are sleeping there instead of driving home. They left the College game to teach and coach high school ball because a 70-80 hour work week gave them more time with their families.

Having enough money is one form of peace of mind. Here's another: having a quality of life.
"There is no break anymore," said Todd Berry, executive director of the American Football Coaches Association. "The most precious thing you have is 10 free minutes. While I know these guys are making significant money at times, the quality of life is at an all-time low right now."

There are a lot of reasons. The early signing period (Dec. 20 this year) has forced everyone to work at a faster pace. Recruits themselves are asked to make quicker decisions. Athletic directors must fire coaches earlier to get a jump on hiring new ones for recruiting. Many coaches are signing the majority of their classes while simultaneously trying to prepare for bowl games, if not the College Football Playoff.

Combine that with fundraising, spring football, winter conditioning, summer school, camps and fall camp, and there is maybe a window for family vacation in June or July.
That's after ignoring the family for large swaths of the year. Stay-at-home dads these coaches are not.
"I hear from guys all the time, 'I don't know how long I can keep doing this,' " Berry said.
That's before considering the day-to-day pressure of the job itself, the reason they are there in the first place: to win.

Was surprised as well, they've won the Pac-12 a few times and made it to the CFP once under him.

With @Carolina Red's post it makes sense though. There's no news between January and August but I can't imagine all the effort that goes into recruiting, especially if you're not a top tier school recruits are throwing themselves at

I really wouldn't have any issue with him except for the fact he blocked Colson Yankoff's transfer waiver this summer requiring him to sit out a season for UCLA. Basically said he's old school, and that Yankoff made a commitment and shouldn't quit on his team. I know it's not exactly apple to apples, but sorta found it hypocritical that he decides to take a break but won't allow a 19-yr old kid to play straightaway for another school.

Man Wisconsin was the little engine that could in the 1st half and then OSU dusted off the M1 Abrams and blew them to pieces in the 2nd. Good riddance, am pleased with the CFP matches as they are (apart from wanting LSU to take #1) and didn't need to see a bunch of cheese-heads ruining that.

Ohio St vs Clemson is a heck of a matchup. I wish it was being played in Atlanta.

Quarterbacks Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence were the No. 1 and 2 overall recruits in the 2018 class. Both are from Georgia. There were debates about which was the better prospect and both have already shown why they were so highly coveted. Now, we get to see them head-to-head in this matchup.

Lawrence has more experience in the playoff, leading Clemson to a national championship last season, while Fields has thrown 40 touchdowns and only one interception this season. Both offenses rank in the top five in yards per game, and Ohio State has put up the most offensive points per game this season (48) of any FBS team, although Clemson is not far behind at No. 3 (averaging 44.9 points).

Those two units, however, will both have a challenge on their hands with the opposing defenses. These are the top two teams in the country in yards and pass yards allowed per game, with Clemson at No. 1 and Ohio State at 2 in both categories. On top of that, both defenses are in the top five for offensive touchdowns allowed. Fields and Lawrence are going to be challenged in a way they haven't been so far this season.
