Sorry, I don't really know more than you do. Reminds me quite a bit of Varane's story at Lens, who got plucked by Zidane at Madrid and immediately showed it was a great piece of business. I don't know much about Todibo besides some clips, he definitely seems fast like Varane, but I'm not sure he's as collected mentally, but he seems more aggressive which I like as long as it's in a collected manner. He's so young though, and the fee is not likely to be very high so it's a low-risk high-reward. Barcelona will have to push for a CB, but I don't know that they'd go for someone so inexperienced to replace Umtiti while he's dealing with an extended injury. Looking forward to seeing who takes a shot at him and what he makes of it.

A very exciting young prospect that is similar to a young Varane imo. Has all the attributes to be a big player for Barcelona in the not too distant future. Fast, athletic, good on the ball and good aerially. The potential is huge and he must've cost a very reasonable fee too.

He had all the big European teams after him from what I read, which shows us what a big talent he is.

Might as well start a thread about him with all the talks of him possibly signing for Barca and that the likes of Real and Bayern are also interested. Seems to have only 10 league appearances in his career so far but, has obviously showed potential. @Sayros @kouroux @JPRouve @FootballHQ @Ecstatic what do you guys think about him.

I only saw him once against Montpellier and Toulouse weren't great defensively. I didn't really pay attention to him though.

The next wave is certainly coming.

Todibo, Saliba, Badiashile all look really promising.
United have tried to sign Benoit Badiashile twice without success in the last 18 months according to L'Equipe. He signed a contract extension last year after spurning the advances of United but his contract only runs until 2021. I can see us going back in for him next year if he's still showing huge potential.

Honestly never heard of him, who does he play for?

In fairness I haven't watched much of French league this season. Sorry.

Plays for Toulouse as a CB and looks very promising. Most of the elite clubs in Europe have been trying to secure his services, but it looks like Barcelona are gonna sign the young CB, who only turned 19 last week.

Yep, seeing more and more reports that this is a done deal for Barcelona, another free transfer. Between him and Rabiot, this has been an excellent winter transfer window for Barcelona, even if they won't get the players until next season.

It remains to be seen if this will be a good career move for him. He's so young, and to go to Barcelona where you have Pique and Umtiti, he's not going to get the consistent playing time he will need to maximize his development. I hope I'm wrong, I had that same concern with Varane and he turned out all right but that tends to be the exception rather than the rule.

Given the wages(Official or unofficial....) they must have given Rabiot, i would rather have Todibo (even though different positions). Looks like a less pacey, but a better passer compared to Varane. I seriously hope we were after him but he prefered Spain.

It's a bit early to say that, Varane is a pretty good passer, both short and long passes. If he can become close to Varane, that's a pretty exceptional potential. The Rabiot deal remains a mystery to me, I just don't see how they need him with all the other options they have, and you just know he's going to be a headache if he doesn't play since he thinks he's the greatest gift to football.

His mother thinks he is sent from god to become the Jesus of football...
Among the many talented young french CBs Todibo is the one i would go after., but with young talents and the uncertainty regarding their developement you never know.

To be fair very few players would choose us over Barcelona.
Fair enough, but United can offer more opportunities of growth as far as playing time for some of them compared to the few openings there are on the first team. Also, now that Mourinho is no longer the coach, there's an added attractiveness to how the side plays.

Why did Toulouse allow him to run down his contract?
He doesn't have a professional contract, he is an apprentice and didn't agree on a first pro contract. Also clubs don't allow anything, players aren't slaves.

It is official he is joining Barca during the summer.

I wonder if that means Barca's interest in De Ligt is over.

There are serious rumours of Barca trying to sell him... As a Barcelona supporter I can't understand it at all. He never played more than 2 games in a row, and when he did he proofed to fit what is expected from a Barcelona defensive player, he makes some mistakes but at his age and without continuity I see them as totally normal. With Piqué in his last years and Umtiti who plays like semiretired player with his knee, Barcelona should keep him yes or yes, but if they sell it I hope it's United who goes after him since it can be relatively cheap.

He's still young but he's no where near good enough for Barcelona. He'll be off in the January window.
You think? I've read some of the Barcelona forums and the majority of the fans on there seem to really rate him. Excellent passing and vision with decent defending aka modern defender. Hope Barcelona do sell him, i'd take him here.

Maybe if Pep came back players like Todibo would have more of a chance. Valverde is a bit like Mou in respect that he doesn't trust youth. Instead of trusting Todibo he had Umtiti playing even though he wasn't near 100% fit. Todibo was bought as the 4th CB behind Pique, Lenglet and Umtiti but the club are now seemingly putting there money on Ronald Araujo from Barca B to take his spot.

Rumours round the club are Todibo might be sold for around €12m in the January window with Milan and Bayer Leverkusen being interested. I haven't seen too much of him because he's hardly played to comment too much but I haven't really been impressed from what I've seen. €12m for a CB is peanuts in comparison to the 75m Juve paid for De Ligt so it doesn't seem like Barca have seen too much from him to sell him for anymore.

They can't ask for more though. As you said, he's barely played. De Ligt played significantly more football than him, hence his high transfer fee.

Wolves, Juve, Bayer and Milan are interested in Todibo. A host of clubs went for him initially when he left Toulouse so wouldn't be surprised to see the same still be in. He got whoscored motm (means very little I know) last night for example. He attempted 8 tackles and won 8, highest on the pitch yesterday.

It's true its hard to comment on a player when he hardly plays but Pique has 2 years left at the most, Umtiti will always have long periods of time in the treatment room so that basically leaves only Lenglet. Being so light I couldn't see anyway Barca would sell him if they thought he was any good. Maybe I'm adding 2+2 and coming up with 5 which wouldn't be for the first time.
