Erling Haaland | Dortmund player

So all that hype and speculation came to nothing for United. Just knew that a poorly run club like United wouldn't get such a talented young player for such a bargain price. Knowing Woodward he'll put in 150 million bid in year or two for him.
Knew someone would respond in a childish manner. It's not Uniteds fault you fall for speculation though.

Is it not possible that Haaland choose Dortmund because he will get the most playing time, and knows he will likely be able to move clubs in a few years time if he develops well?

Right move.

They’re already a good, exciting young team, we’re building.

They’re proven in developing young players in the last few years.

There will be much less pressure playing for them than us.

Also anyone thinking we’ll sign Sancho anytime soon is crazy.

This.....we are getting feck all....has there ever been a club so inefficient at signing players? Why do we even bother? Should just shut the feck up until someone actually signs the dotted line and then we can all have a massive wank.

He would have joined United if Robbie Keane hadn't killed his dad. Don't blame him for not being able to look past that.
He would have joined United if he didn't have the greedy Raiola as his agent.

That’s a third of our average net spend for the last 2 seasons, it’s not “nothing”. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s Haaland or a centre mid in January, and if that’s the case I’d rather a midfielder.

Next level WUM?

I like it.

Oh, I spoke too soon. A child appears.

Impressive from the Cafe to go from conspiracies about Pogba not being committed and wanting out, to crying over not signing a player who wanted a buy out clause installed in his contract in less than 24 hours.

Looks like United briefed few journalists. Unites pulled out of the deal because of the demands by agent and also them wanting buy out clause
I feel like there have been a lot of these "we didn't want them anyway" briefings straight after we've missed out on a player that the same press were reporting our interest in right until they went somewhere else. It's a good move for Haaland, he will get plenty of games playing for a very good team and also opens the opportunity to making the step up down the line to a club like Real Madrid or Bayern when he's further developed (I wouldn't consider us a step up right now given Dortmund have been better than us for the last 7 or 8 years but hopefully it might be in a few years time).

We don't really do buyout clauses do we? Also depends if his agent was setting it low so he can move him on quickly. If you include a clause I would want it sky high so it would not be triggered easily.

He was bought for 20M he would had hardly interfered with our budged to get other reinforcements, the reality is we tried but we are not what we once were.

We are not talking about competing against top tier clubs like Barca or Madrid for players, we are now competing with one level below clubs...and losing.

Our net send recently would suggest that 20m would affect our dealings if we are actually looking for 2 midfield players. Greenwood also needs game time. We likely lost out because Dortmund can offer him a starting place whereas he has to deal with Martial here. I don't think it's ever as simple as 'losing out' but it may be. A number 10 to ensure we see less of Mata and Lingard is more important right now than a back up to Martial.

I mentioned as soon as Dortmund were linked that our chances were low. They're a great place for young players to develop. And I fancy Martial over Alcacer as well to be harder to dislodge.

If this is true then not signing him is actually a good thing.

We should only look for players who are committed to us. And we are not a stepstone ffs.
Agreed. The less we have to do with that scum Raiola, the better.

What a joke we are. So much for him wanting to play for Ole... When a player chooses Dortmunt over United you know how much we have fallen. I guess its like choosing Dortmunt over Everton, we are a midtable team now.
:wenger:

I didn't fall for speculation mate. The two main stumbling blocks for such a transfer was Woodward and dealing with that clown of agent Mino Raiola. Anyway done and dusted now the priority in January for United is signing a midfielder and I don't trust Woodward to deliver..

But sources also told ESPN that United's interest in the player cooled when it became clear that any deal would involve a share of potential future sale profits between Haaland's father, Alfie, and advisor Mino Raiola. United would also not accept a demand for Haaland to be given a buyout clause for him to move to the club.

As dissappointed I am, players in Manchester United do not have a buyout clause. My hatred for Mino Raiolas advisement have reached peak levels.

What are you basing your analysis on ?

In reply to the article about his agent wanting a release clause and selling percentages.

Was always going to be a difficult move with raiola being the agent.
Fits in with Oles point of view of wanting players who want to play for the club instead of getting dragged into ridiculous financial nonsense, clauses and sell on fees.

Saying that, we aren’t at the peak of our powers and having another striker at that cost for 2-3 years wouldn’t have hurt.

People need to sit back, relax and accept the truth. United won’t be buying anyone till the summer. Anyway who knows? We might make too 4 anyway!

Not an issue then - Dortmund probably have a release clause of £60 mil on the guy.

Yes. We really don't want to be involved with Raiola more than we have to. If he plays well he will be trying to get him moved on again.

The net spend its just pure bullshit, dont mean to be rude but 20M its peanuts in this times specially for a premier league club, specially for us.

I get the priorities and I agree we need midfielders way more urgently than a number 9, but just seemed a great opportunity he seems the best prospect since Mbappe, thats what we missed out.

My theory is we definitely tried, but we failed to convince him, can blame him though we are a laughing club at the moment why the feck would he rather come here than go elsewhere?

United briefing it appears. For a change I probably believe it. Makes me question though why would anyone want to involve Raiola knowing how he is looking to line his pockets. What additional benefit would he have gotten Haaland?

Slightly disappointing but not sure how it would've worked anyway. I really don't know what the way forward is for our front line. Having two strikers with bags of potential plus another who makes us better but blows hot and cold and is often injured is a weird approach. Even without Haaland in that equation I don't know what the right thing to do is.

Seems like the club is doing the right thing. Raiola is a snake and we should refuse to deal with him any further when signing new players.

Top wum mate 10/10.
