You'd really want to be well on your way at a Prem Club by 22, having come through the United academy with some amount of hype, wouldn't you?

Wonder what the plan is, presume either backup with Young leaving, or a sale.
It's standard move. Young player on loan is not playing, so he is recalled to send him elsewhere.

You get a lot of loans recalled this time of year if it isn't going well. If he isn't playing he needs to be elsewhere.
That is true. But with the news that Young seems to want away now and obviously we have no funds or ideas for transfers, it would not be shocking to see him on the fringes of the first team in the near future.

This is such a non-story, but I suppose can be manufactured into some material to squeeze a few pages of ‘we’re such a terribly run club’ out of.

To be honest it's pointless 'doing a Jose' and wasting the summers budget by panic signing some central defender who is only coming for the money, and who will go back on the bench once Maguire returns from injury.

The season is already mostly a write-off apart from a delusional hope we'll win the Europa, so it makes sense to give the likes of Di'Shon Bernard a run. Tuanzebe and Bailly are supposed to be back soon enough.
No one has suggested we buy a defender to cover Maguire's injury. Also CBJ is a full back not a centre back.

Similar to Hamilton I imagine, brought back in order to find a more suitable loan.

Shame about CBJ as he did look decent there under LVG. Whipped a cracking ball in from the left, and had a wonderfully Jurrasic way of running.

Hope he finds a decent club to kick on at.

Young leaving is official, him to provide backup, laird to step up.
Exactly this, Youngy must be off to play for Conte!
I remember how much we hyped up CBJ, I hope Brandon doesn't turn out the same way!

How about recalling Smalling instead dip shit?
Because we don't have the option to recall him because we received a loan fee from Roma. I'd be Roma's decision if they wanted to send him back, and considering he's established himself in their first team I doubt they'll be willing to let him come back.

Just shows how young he was then, born 2/2/97 so nearly 23. Another one who has gone backwards it appears.
"Gone backwards" would apply if he was any good in the first place and then stagnated. The reality is he only played because LVG had trimmed the squad to the absolute bare minimum. Adam Eckersley level of footballer who never would have got a game if not for the circumstances.

3rd Choice at Tranmere but 2nd choice at Man Utd...

Shame about how his career has panned out because he looked very composed and a good crosser of the ball under LVG. I think he and TFM both have played better for Utd than they have for other clubs and I sometimes wonder if loans are the right route for some players. Loans can be massively helpful and a good top half championship team is probably often the best route. I still hold hope for TFM but you have to question CBJ's desire, attitude and work ethic when he's had a string of unsuccessful loan spells.

When he was on loan at Wolves he looked quite talented, but as though he didn't have the right attitude to succeed.

Has done nothing since to disprove that.

He’s only started one game for Tranmere and hasn’t gotten in the squad since before December. He’s not being recalled to cover for Young. He’s probably been recalled because he isn’t playing.
Stop speaking common sense

There’s plenty of legitimate things to criticise the club over without having to resort to climbing over nothing stories like this. He’s clearly not being brought back to play ffs.

Hardly young in footballing terms. At 22 if you are being loaned out to Tranmere Rovers you are never going to make it at Manchester United. Should have been sold years ago after LVG gave him the chance.

They're just looking out for his career, probably look to loan him somewhere he will play and earn a contract with in the summer.

We’re in free fall man. It’s mental.

I know people are happy to laugh at the doom mongers, but that’s CBJ and Hamilton (whoever he is) recalled when the club. Add these to the briefings about how there’s nobody of ‘the level we want’ in January and it’s extremely likely these players are going to fill up the holes in the squad instead of absolutely mandatory signings.

Or actually even worse, they go on loan again and we sign nobody!

I don't see why it's funny, he's never gonna play for us. We have Shaw & Dalot back, Rojo back in 2 weeks and, of course, Williams fully fit.
Yet only Shaw and Ashley Young play. Baring Brandon's new rise.

What a crock of crap.

Ole (probably): "hes got the united DNA, he knows the club inside and out, hes a talented young player and fits my visions of Brexit united, I've no doubts Borthy will be raring to go."

Might aswell get fecking paddy McNair back too.

How many loans moves have actually done well for one of players in recent years? (Or ever) Im probably missing an obvious one but still.

How embarrassing.

do you lot actually think we’re recalling him to play? We do this every January. we recall players that aren’t playing on loan and send them elsewhere or back to the u23s.

It's genuinely mind-boggling that some people somehow actually think that he's being recalled because we want to play him in the first team, especially after the same thing happened to Hamilton last week, who was then promptly loaned out to another team.

Well Rojo is injured and Dalot is just coming back from an injury. How many fullbacks do we really need? We have Dalot, Shaw, AWB, Young, Williams right now, with Rojo and even Fosu-Mensah due back within a few weeks. CBJ hasn't been brought back as some desperate emergency cover.
