So far we have Castles reporting we've agreed terms with Bruno (if Mendes is involved, this info will be solid), Ducker reporting the same this morning and also now The Athletic

This is done. We've agreed personal terms. The player wants to come. Sporting need money.

He'll play against Benfica, wave to the crowd afterwards, we'll agree a deal on Monday, he'll have a medical tuesday and be announced and at the game Wednesday.

If anyone still doubts this transfer now, i'd say they should bet on him staying because the odds must surely be quite good now ;)
I think it's going to happen this time. Club probably wanted to wait till summer but had no choice due to midfield injuries. Season could collapse if we don't add some goals and creativity.

Not yet bro. He's meant to be at Anfield on Sunday according to reports in Portugal. Ducker said talks continuing too and personal stuff has been agreed, he's one of the reputable journo's for sure.
Oh great then. It's on like a donkey kong!

I think he's coming. It just won't be done to the caf's deadline, but it will get there before the window shuts.

Last signing that showed his potential? I hope we don't turn another potentially good player into shit. We seem to have a way of doing this for sometime now......

I don’t get this ‘want to play him against Benfica’ stuff usually when a deal is this close clubs leave the player out incase of injury or whatever it’s seems odd.

I mean if Pogba was on the verge of joining Madrid the last thing I’d expect is for him to be playing against Liverpool on Sunday.

Surely comments like this are getting boring now?

Did you notice a slew of deals all over Europe being announced on January 1st? A team can’t have it our own way in a market, you don’t just pick and choose when you take other team’s best players.
It's a general comment on how we've been run for the past few years, you think it's an unfair accusation? Planning on the football side on the club has been appalling.
The initial quote was about doing the groundwork for transfers in the months leading up to the transfer window.

Sporting seem a very hard club to deal with. Can't imagine any other club would want to hold on to a player until after their derby game, especially when they need the money. A big risk, but they seem to be willing to take it.

I’m aware the point is more general. It is the same general point that is made throughout the forum, on multiple occasions, regardless of the conversation. That’s the point that I’m making. I appreciate there is this sentiment of us being ‘terribly run’, but it gets boring in every conversation. And nobody is aware of what groundwork we have or haven’t done in this deal, or the million other factors that could have been in play. It is possible, even likely, that we didn’t originally plan to buy Fernandes in January, hence not doing groundwork to announce him on 1 January! Situations change. Clubs don’t announce all their deals on the first day of the window, so this constant ‘we should have been agreeing these deals months ago’ I keep reading is far fetched.

No opportunity is ever missed to have a go at the club, ever. In this instance, it’s because people have already exhausted their patience for a deal that looks to have been in the works for all of one week now. A big money deal to sign Sporting’s captain. All these cheap shots to imply that all the suits at the club aren’t much more qualified or capable than a Tesco checkout assistant are just a bit tiresome to me, and down to frustration that we aren’t currently the best team in the world basically.

Read reports stating he will be over here and watching us at the game on Sunday. Let's hope he's signed already before he see's us play

Looks like this is a goer though now chaps and chapesses.

The deal will be done after Friday's game with Benfica, they say. SSN

No way is the transfer being postponed because of the Benfica game, that makes no sense, neither Utd nor Sporting would risk such a massive transfer over one game.
It makes no sense? I'm telling you for a fact there's 0 chance we would sell him before the Benfica game. The president wouldn't make it one more day on the job if he did that.

We can afford to risk it, we aren't broke to the point where we can't wait 6 months to sell him. In fact, I'd be very surprised if he's sold before the Braga game too considering that's the only cup we have a chance of winning this season.
