Useless cnut and an abomination that he is club captain. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Favourite Young moment,people ?
Preferably one that doesn't involve the presence of bird-poop landing into his open mouth.

For me it was the bird pooping..,oh god dammit.
That time I called him Ashley Old in my head for the first time. Made me chuckle for a solid two days.

Which would make the stat more impressive. You don’t understand them.
I understand that he was a poor player for us over a long period of time. Last season he had 0 assists, 0 through balls, 0 blocked shots, 0 last man tackles. Only won 50% of his tackles. In just half a season, AWB has 4 assists, 2 through balls, 5 blocked shots, 68% tackle success. This is what a proper full back should be doing. We have been charitable for long enough, time to play the game properly now.

Going to be interesting to see what old heads we are left with outside of Mata in the dressing room and on the pitch. We won't necessarily miss him on the pitch but, I think will have an effect of one less senior player with character in the background helping with a very young squad.

Wish him the best, he's been a pro and had put in some good performances. The 8-2 Arsenal comes to mind.

I’ll take your stats with a massive pinch of salt. You don’t understand them.

Feet up at home.
Let him go and wish him well. Been far more players with worse attitudes than him he's been a good servant. Best for both parties at this stage of his career.

Disgraceful post.

Young wasn’t the most gifted to wear the shirt by any means but he always gave 100% when he took to the field and represented the club with obvious pride. He has a connection with match-going fans and there’s a mutual respect there. All things being equal, he’s probably fortunate to be at the club in 2020 but there’s no way he deserves the disgusting vitriol aimed at him by supposed ‘supporters’.

Good luck to him but, should have gone years ago and glad the wages are freed up.

We had no choice really. Couldn't afford to risk him going for nothing at the end of the season.

Good luck Ash!
But really 1.5M should be chump change to a club like United... if we wanted to keep him, even until the end of the season, we should have

It makes me vomit up my stomach lining seeing so many people happy that he's left. A player who always tried his best, regardless of his age, the injuries he's had or the position he's been asked to play (everything from a number 10 to either side of the Fullback/wingback positions.)

Hope he ends up with a Serie A winners medal. Had many blinders against City and Liverpool, has a league winners medal, which few can say in our side recently and was a first team player for Fergie, Van Gaal, Mourinho and Ole. Good luck, Youngy.

Club captain and supposedly "great" servant, jumps ship as soon as he was offered a deal by another club and leaves the team mid season. Not that I am disappointed since I think he should have left years ago, but it tells you about this group of players we have on undeserving huge wages. Same thing will happen with Lingard I can imagine.
Lingard can leave in any time of the season. Even off season.

We must be getting quite low on the number of Fergie singings left at the club? Jones and DDG (not counting loans)?

I think Young will do well in Italy. He works hard and is technically good with the ball, it's just that the Premier league is very intense with most teams playing fast wide forwards, so playing slower converted wingers as full backs doesn't really work any more for top teams. Italys slower but more technical which will suit Young. Even Alexis has managed to look decently competent for Inter which is a miracle given how abject he was for us.

I for one anyhow welcome the chance to compete for the league vicariously through a United-laden Inter.

Milan wasn't waiting until summer, they would've got someone else.

I thinks it's more about helping a respected player get the last move he deserves.

All the best to him. Not a club legend, but he's been a model professional whilst at Old Trafford.

Lukaku, Sanchez and Young all to Inter? Did we buy Inter in the summer and are using them as some kind of money laundering service or something?

Serie A is just the Manchester United reunion party. Lukaku, Sanchez, Smalling, Mkhitaryan, Darmian, Zlatan and now Young.

My best to Young. Always thought he gave his all, never any hint he was unprofessional really, his best just wasn't good enough. Should have been let go ages ago. Still, hopefully this is a precursor to the squad being properly refreshed.

Genuinely wish him the best. Was one of the few leaders over last few years. Emergence of Brandon Williams means he wouldn't have got much game time. Saves £110k per week in wage bill.

The fact matic, mata etc who are fringe players are on such large wages we need them off our books.

If you are Brandon Williams and playing so well it would be demoralising to see young on 110k and Luke shaw on 195k a week and that causes things to go pear shaped.

Hopefully a step in the right direction.

All the best to him. Definitely time but he's been a good servant especially as his position was switched in his later years.

I do think we've relied on him at full back for a bit too long in recent years but then he was also one of our best players at LB just 18 months ago when we finished second which people forget.

Farewell Ashley. At least I won't have to watch Manchester United being captained by Ashley Young anymore. It was fecking painful

I like him as a character. I'm also pleased that he's not signing a new contract at United as I think his time at OT was really over after this season. Could have done with him for the remainder of the season, but completely understand he wanted to leave once Inter came calling and made him feel more special. Best of luck to him.

I wish Young all the best. A loyal and hardworking player who was played as an emergency full back for good part of his latter years. Became the target of a lot of unfair criticism at moments and kept his head. I hope he goes and wins the Serie A with Inter.

In other news: We're going to need a new captain.
