Good for him, knew he'd do well, just hope not TOO well or Dortmund will have another Gotze situation coming soon (albeit with less surprise)
That's fair & that's a poor career move to use such an agent oriented career based trajectory. You, and others noting this, do realise the release clause essentially just puts a cap on the limit Dortmund get when selling him? His overall next transfer could still be for £150m+, but it will be him, his family and his agents carving most of that up in agent fees and signing on fees. Release clauses mean feck all unless the player, and by extension his agent, exercise contract options to demand the move if the release clause is triggered. Nobody is getting Haaland for circa £50m if he has a good time at Dortmund, because Haaland and Raiola won’t agree to any move unless they are serious recompensed.
This type of move is going to become the new norm for hot talents reaching the top of the tree. Players and agents are finally waking up to the fact that they are the sole precious commodity in football.
Bad at youth development? The player didn't want to join a mid-table team which is run badly and offers nothing for youth development. Get over it.
Not everyone in the world is dying to be here. Many players would rather be somewhere else. Some people still think this is 2010.
Well, he´s only 19 and probably hasn´t sign his last contract. If Ole is still here in 1-2 years time, United would be in the competition. There were rumours that Haaland wanted some sort of insurance that Ole would be in for long term before he signed any contact with United. It's just a temporary move for him, he'll be here within 3 years...
Harsh.. im sure joining Manchester United and becoming part of that history means something. Not that much but still worth a little. The player didn't want to join a mid-table team which is run badly and offers nothing for youth development. Get over it.

He'll have a better environment to develop at BVB then can move to Bayern who are a better position than us anyway. From the player's perspective it's a no brainer let's be honest, the original poster is right.Harsh.. im sure joining Manchester United and becoming part of that history means something. However we have to be honest and admit that if you join Mnachester United right now you mostly do it for the money.
Why did anyone join Liverpool prior to last season? Why does anyone join Spurs? Arsenal?Harsh.. im sure joining Manchester United and becoming part of that history means something. Not that much but still worth a little.

Because they are not Man Utd. They are other clubs and players want to be there. This isn't the 1920's.Why did anyone join Liverpool prior to last season? Why does anyone join Spurs? Arsenal?
Yes, he made the right choice for his career. Cant argue against that. Perfect situation for him to develop, play CL, 'challenge' for the league and have great players behind him to create chances. He'll have a better environment to develop at BVB then can move to Bayern who are a better position than us anyway. From the player's perspective it's a no brainer let's be honest, the original poster is right.
Klopp, Anfield, money and after that history. Spurs and Arsenal have living as London as bonus too.Why did anyone join Liverpool prior to last season? Why does anyone join Spurs? Arsenal?
Of course he is, Ms Negative Nancy. He'll have a better environment to develop at BVB then can move to Bayern who are a better position than us anyway. From the player's perspective it's a no brainer let's be honest, the original poster is right.
And why are you replaying to me and not the original poster who said we're a mid-table club, or is he a Mr.Positive ?Of course he is, Ms Negative Nancy.
Btw, he did say he wanted to come to the EPL someday, so a move to Bayern isn't set in stone at all.

I would like to think so...And why are you replaying to me and not the original poster who said we're a mid-table club, or is he a Mr.Positive ?
The club quite rightly refused Raiola's insistence of a release clause. Unless you want a player who can leave for a derisory fee in 2 years time? One of Ole biggest failure at United. How he wasn’t able to lure him is a big warning sign for any United supporters. It is obvious this kid is talented and Ole’s connection and also managing one of the biggest club in the world!!.......This is a sackable offense. I will not forgive Ole for this.
I meant @RedDevil@84 not you. Sorry if you take it on you btw.I would like to think so...
As well as the release clause thing people seem to forget that apparently they wanted guaranteed hours and Ole with Martial, Rashford and Greenwood couldn’t guarantee as much playtime as Haaland wanted. One of Ole biggest failure at United. Why wouldn’t we? We still make a profit and we might accomplish something in the time he stays here. Moreover, it is not guaranteed that he will leave in 2 years time. The player, agent and his family are more important factors of him leaving in two years than his release clause. He could stay here for 10 years if he loved it here so much and we are in good terms with his agent and family. The club quite rightly refused Raiola's insistence of a release clause. All speculation with nothing verified. Unless of course you want to believe everything Ed wants you to believe to cover up their own incompetence. Excuses. We missed out on a talent. The club quite rightly refused Raiola's insistence of a release clause. Unless you want a player who can leave for a derisory fee in 2 years time?
Had he came here and scored for fun you'd be looking at a 150-200m player in 2 years time with a release clause of 50m - you think that's a good position for the club to be in? You think if Real Madrid came in for him we'd have any chance of keeping him?Why wouldn’t we? We still make a profit and we might accomplish something in the time he stays here. Moreover, it is not guaranteed that he will leave in 2 years time. The player, agent and his family are more important factors of him leaving in two years than his release clause. As I mentioned before, how we missed out on him is inexcusable and shows poor management and leadership at this club
Or we let Dortmund have him for now and get him later, have him for his prime years possibly where he thinks about staying for long terms rather than moving with the intention of moving again? Why wouldn’t we? If he does that well and he loves it at the club, why would he want to leave for Real Madrid? Haland doesn’t appear to have the characteristic of Tevez or Balotelli. If he had come, I m quite sure he would have accepted a renewed, more lucrative contract that benefits both United and him.Had he came here and scored for fun you'd be looking at a 150-200m player in 2 years time with a release clause of 50m - you think that's a good position for the club to be in? Why would we want to compare ourselves with clubs that are worst than us?Bad at youth development?
You must be thinking of City or pool.
That's just pure guess work.If he does that well and he loves it at the club, why would he want to leave for Real Madrid? Haland doesn’t appear to have the characteristic of Tevez or Balotelli. Same reason every player goes to Real Madrid, they're the biggest club in the world and provide better chance of winning multiple trophies than usIf he does that well and he loves it at the club, why would he want to leave for Real Madrid? No one can predict the future, but I prefer my plan rather than the one where he develops at Dortmund and we are fighting with the likes of Madrid, Bayern, etc. for his signature later on.That's just pure guess work.
He clearly was worked around by agent work and that will happen again in the future.
Like there's even a fecking contest. No one can predict the future, but I prefer my plan rather than the one where he develops at Dortmund and we are fighting with the likes of Madrid, Bayern, etc. for his signature later on.
What's the difference? Loose him to Madrid for a derisory fee or compete with them for his signature? I'd rather compete with them and miss out than forced to sell him to them and be bent over in the processNo one can predict the future, but I prefer my plan rather than the one where he develops at Dortmund and we are fighting with the likes of Madrid, Bayern, etc. for his signature later on.
This. People bemoaning the drop in standards insisting we should be happy to be a farmer club absolutely boggles my mind. What's the difference? Loose him to Madrid for a derisory fee or compete with them for his signature? I'd rather compete with them and miss out than forced to sell him to them and be bent over in the process
The difference is that on one side, we have a very small chance to land Haland. While on the other side, we land Haland but with a slight possibility that he could leave for small amount later after bringing us back where we should be. The latter seems more reasonable than the former. If he does leave, we still get a profit and give the likes of Greenwood a better path to regular first team football. We are one injury away with MMM(M3) from being toothless in the attack and having another season of Europa league football. Haland will be a great addition at the moment to this teamWhat's the difference? Loose him to Madrid for a derisory fee or compete with them for his signature? I'd rather compete with them and miss out than forced to sell him to them and be bent over in the process
Stop talking absolute shite. Mid table team and offers nothing for youth development. Of all the horse shit I've read on this site, those two statements are probably the worst. The player didn't want to join a mid-table team which is run badly and offers nothing for youth development. Get over it.
Not everyone in the world is dying to be here. Many players would rather be somewhere else. Some people still think this is 2010.
Based on the interview after the game, the main reason for going to BVB was due to them having really good attacking players that would create chances for him. From his point of view, it is understandable as a "poacher" to rather play with Sancho and Reus than Rashford and Martial. It is not about being a selling club, but more about the players and type of football you play.Or we let Dortmund have him for now and get him later, have him for his prime years possibly where he thinks about staying for long terms rather than moving with the intention of moving again?
It seemed like Haaland wanted to move to Dortmund anyway due to the type of club they are - they are a selling club that gives chances to their players to improve before doing just that. Im okay without us having to be that.
