Surprised people are seeing so many positives in today's game. If Liverpool took their chances and didn't miss so many sitters it could've easily been 5-0. The score was close but it was a comfortable victory for the Scousers.

Martial had zero service, he looked so isolated.

James I didn't even know was playing lost his confidence and he was never bought to be playing in EVERY game another example of a major lack of depth.

Release Pereira back into the wild with Lingard as soon as possible.

Matic played well, he's not as mobile as McTominay but he's dong a decent job.

Fred played well, confident and the player we hoped he would be when we got him hopefully continue to grow.

De Gea played well.

Defence did alright need to work on keeping composed after big moments but zonal marking has to end we can't execute it.

Subs were the correct ones.

I think it's evident we have talented youngsters at our club but we severely lack depth, experience and top quality.

Only the club can be blamed for allowing Lukaku and Herrera to leave without replacing them. Its showing big time now.

We made ourselves difficult to beat in the end. Yeah, they had more chances but chances don't win games, making them count does.

Anyone who thinks it was easy for them just needs to look at it from the other side, when we have games with a lot of chances but it's only 1:0.

Either way, we've had a bit of a momentum prior to this game, this certainly hurts, but this team will rise to the occasion and take out their frustrations on our next opponents. We don't have to beat Liverpool win the EL and that's our fight this season. Arsenal don't play better games at Anfield either, nor do Chelsea, these are teams we need to beat and that we can.

What did you honestly expect before the game? I mean, come on honestly?
Says a lot when people are celebrating that we didn't get absolutely tonked. Most of us thought that would happen. Think the Rashford news has upset people more though.

When a player is offside doesn't the goal keeper have to set the ball down?

Fred MOTM again. Matic very good too. Even though he slowed down, he's still class in protecting the ball under pressure with his physicality, his passing is good too.

Along with our clown CBs Pereira, James and Williams were nowhere to be seen and couldn't get into the game. I'm sorry but James has nothing other than his pace. Awful passing, awful finishing, awful delivery into the box and physically weak as a schoolboy. It's hard to believe he's nearly of the same age with Adama Traore and plays the same position on the pitch. Pereira also not good enough. Normally these are the players who can't be a part of Manchester United squad but even with the standards dropped, they (James, Pereira, Lingard etc.) should be squad players at best.

Completely agree about Matic and Fred. They were great. Perieria was very wasteful and gave the ball away many times when a simple thread was needed. Couldn't help bu think that Bruno would be able to play those. As for Wan Bissaka, I was annoyed with how many times James ignored his run off of a 1-2 and didn't play it back to him and then run into space for a pass from Basaka. I know everyone's weary of his attacking but he could play a simple pass back to James running down the line or slightly to the left of him, it's his crosses (but also James crosses are always behind as well).

They did fight very hard and we could have scored, but they could have scored many as well.

All things considered what did anyone expect.

No Rashford no Pogba meant we relied on Martial to do something with no service

We've now conceded more goals from set pieces than any other team this season.
Its appalling. Not sure if that includes second balls too. Its one of the worst things about the football side of the club

Ole Glazer Solskjaer thrilled with that no doubt. Glorious defeat. Fair play to Woodward and Ole the loser mentality has set in deep not just within the squad but even throughout a large majority of the fanbase. Sad to see.

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
After they scored we were poor until about 5 minutes into the second half. Rest of the time we were OK. In the end disappointed not to get an equaliser, for their second goal we had no defence pushing for the equaliser.

Question is why Fred is marking VVD at corners. Fred MoM, DDG , Shaw and Matic did OK. Martial was only threat and didn't get the ball enough to him.
James poor and making wrong decisions, Lindelof may learn one day to stop giving the ball to the opposition and being aware of what's going on around him.

They are obviously much better than us but they aren’t a particularly entertaining or nice team to watch. The way they go on and the media you’d think they were like one of the great Barca sides.

Squad too shallow to accommodate missing Rashford, Pogba, McTominay. Everybody can see that and the decision not to replace/upgrade Herrera, Fellaini, Lukaku is likely to kill our season.

Not surprised by the result, however, it still boils my pish because, Liverpool and the incoming media wankfest

Honestly I'm more worried about Rashfords injury more than this result, which we were always going to lose

Also the thing about Wan Bissaka he was wide open so many times the last 10 minutes and no one would pass him. Clearly players just dont trust him, dont feel comfortable passing to him and I dont blame them. He is way too clunky with the ball.
Say what you want about Ashley Young but he was always an option. Wan Bissaka is our last option because he mostly just loses the ball. Good defender, horrible player.

I don't think we played well. You can make an argument that Fred and Matic played well. You can even make an argument that we fought well, but the performance on the ball was not very good at all. No quality in that last third, and let's be honest, this isn't an isolated example. Rashford aside, our main issue is the last third! Never the right ball at the right time with the right weight. If it's the right pass, it's the wrong weight. if it's the right weight, it's the wrong time. Just the decision making is poor at the moment.
Its all relative. For the talent of the players we had out there it was as good as you could expect imo. They gave it everything they had. Replace Pereira with a talented player and we might have got something.

Fair result, Liverpool ripped us a part for 15 minutes in the first and for the first 15 minutes of the second. Other than that we held our own. Fair play to the lads they tried hard after riding the first 15 mins of the second half and created a few chances to score. Fred and Matic played well again. I really don’t blame Maguire for their first goal. He was told to zonal mark and he did that. When he clocked Williams had not blocked VD run he tried to get there.

we need a new striker now Rashford is out. Plus the midfielder we already badly needed. If we dont get them it shows a lack of ambition this year.

Yeah, last third was poor, that's the lack of quality in a nutshell.

I don't think they trusts themselves to make the passes to be honest. They don't have the range.

Surprised at how "proud" people are of getting battered by Liverpool. On another day they would have had four or five, whilst Martial's chance was the only clear cut chance at the other end (Pereira's was a half-chance at best, given he can't magically grow a few inches on demand). Sure, there was some resistance and fight (Fred especially), but on the whole they were miles better and should have won more comfortably than they did.

Greenwood should have started the game instead of james.

Only if we had fit pogba and another creative midfielder.. .then the story would have been different.

We tried hard, especially Fred. He is motm for me.

James and perriera are too immature at this level.

There’s evidence enough for me that we are improving, but we are a way off them clearly. Thought we played well in 10-15 min spells. Certainly better than under previous managers after fergie.
Sorry but that's a load of shit.

We had plenty of opportunities to get something out of that, we’re just woefully devoid of quality in the final third.

Fred was an obvious standout, Williams too. Probably the poorest I’ve seen James, and a deeply worrying performance from AWB.

I'm just going on The Caf
Not as despondent as I usually am losing to them, showed a lot of fight, some good performances from Fred Matic and even Shaw did ok. Problem is quality in some areas, desperate for a attacking midfielder and our squad is so thin its painful.
McTominay Pogba and Rashford in that side and it's a different result.
Over to the money men but I wont hold my breath.

Am I the only who thought we were okay? I mean, we were missing McSauce and Rashford and had Matic in the side.

If Martial had scored his chance, things could've been different.

I have to say it's absolutely astonishing that this Liverpool side has managed to win all but one game this season. Yes they are a very strong side, but they look far more there for the taking than you would think for a side with their record.

Come off it. Van Gaal had a fantastic record against Liverpool. We created very little again, when did Alisson make a save? The only real chance was the Martial one. It’s pretty much the same every week, we lack any quality in the final third and now our only threat is injured because our tit of a manager brought him on when he already had an injury.

We still have a long way to go to get to that Level produced by Liverpool today. Anyone that understands football will see that we were completely outplayed and it was a repeat of the City game. However, we played much better today.

we as United fans needs to ask ourselves.....Is ole really the right guy that will take us to that next level?? I don’t see it.
