From the Duncan Castle podcast.

If they are asking for €5 or €10 extra in achievable and realistic bonuses, they should just do it. We still 'only' pay €50 up front, which is a good deal, and if he hits the targets to earn the add ons, then good for us, he's been successful. It's pretty stupid arguing over a 'comparatively' small amount.

How much extra do we get if we qualify for the Champions League? Because playing around with 5-10m seems ridiculously short term thinking. The sooner we get Bruno, the sooner he can start contributing to helping us get 4th. If we dont get 4th, we not only lose money, we probably lose our targets like Sancho. Or we secure them by overpaying in wages and adding more mercenaries to the squad, which I imagine would cost us way in excess of 5-10m. What we are doing seems utterly ridiculous.

Woodward and the Board/Glazers would rather haggle over 10m and miss out on a good player and potentially the CL, it's so fecking short sighted.

Oh well there's always next year, or the year after that! maybe by then our youngters will be grown up :houllier:

Moot point since we won't be in the CL next season.

Yeah, not really, when I'm talking about buying in reinforcements to get us in the Champions League next season. My point is, it's not as simple as us paying 5-10m extra in a transfer. There is so much more at stake. Our squad is decimated and is likely to get even worse due to players being forced to play even more due to injuries. So by not replacing players we sold and by not getting players in early in the Jan transfer market, we have effectively shots ourselves in the face. And what for? - to save 5-10m euros while costing ourselves a lot more. Utter, utter ineptitude and stupidity.

I get being cautious and making sure you get the best deal possible, but to potentially throw it away with a player that will genuinely improve us, and clearly wants to come? It's infuriating.

They've bleated on about "we can do things other clubs can dream of" but now we look like fecking paupers. It proper enrages me.

At the start of the month I expected no one, I did get sucked into this saga for sure, but I think I'm safely back in the not buying anyone camp. Another disastrous window by Woody.

To be fair for 60€, I'll buy him myself.

Just sign the fecker, he fits needs for us. Who gives a shit about ten million? The Glazers can’t, they are doing well in their pocketbooks by the club. Does Woodward think he’s going to curry favor with a segment of the fan base by saving a rounding error’s worth of money? There’s poor value in the winter window, that’s understood, everyone suffers from it. But we shouldn’t suffer so bad, we can afford the price increase.
Biggest negative affecting the club right now is Woodward.

I’m sure that the injury to Rashford is part of the reason these talks have stalled. The funds that were allocated for Bruno now have to be used to get a striker in.
I wish I had your optimism. United aren't buying a striker. I'll be fecking surprised if they sign Fernandes TBH.

If United come out of this window empty handed, the toxicity at Old Trafford that started with the Norwich game could reach a level that would rival the Arsenal fans at Emirates.

Did any of the thousands of people in the ground or at the airport take any mobile phone pictures? Or did the TV cameras pick up on them?
You do realise Ole didn't deny being there

He never denies or confirms anything about any transfer. That's his MO.

The sources that reported Ole went to Lisbon are the same as the sources who said we'd sign Bruno on Friday, and that the terms were agreed, and that we were 48 hours away, etc. etc.

I'm going to throw up if we don't get this deal done. Its true desperation time in this part of town soon.

Just waiting for Fred to sustain an injury now as well to complete the deck.

Actually source from the UK also said the same, same as Ole went to Austria to meet with Haaland and Phelan went to watch Bellingham

Simon Stones who is a very good source for United has also be heavily reporting on this deal, so its not news coming from Portugal

Which source? All roads seem to lead back to Record.

Your confusing sources with reporters.

This. The board will know they are under serious pressure within the remaining days. The atmosphere at the last game I went Vs City was pretty bad.

I also heard that Haaland was on a plane to Manchester.
He was there. Do you not think if he wasn’t we would have briefed that he wasn’t? Simon Stone etc would have been all over that.

To be fair, other clubs can only dream of being this incompetent in the transfer market so Ed was probably being ironically truthful.

Simon Stone has his own sources at the club. If the BBC says United not willing to pay 80m it doesn't come from Record

Yup Fred first, then Harry. It's going to happen if you repeatedly have to play every 3 days. I do not get why Ole didn't rest some players in the smaller games, unless it was purely to keep his job.

Well its difficult to say whether it is deliberate (because he favours those players) or whether he does it out of necessity because of the small squad size.

Actions speak louder than words though don't they? I get that the media talk a lot of bollocks. But so do we. In fact, I've never heard such first-grade bullshit in my life.
Ed should be a politician. He'd be great at it.
