Each of those players were also signed on loan for Arsenal.
Suarez was viewed with option to make permanent, hence why they paid his wage in full. Cedric is being let go at the end of his Southampton contract. He can't even get in the side any more. Kallstrom was signed with a known back injury. Not something you really do if it's just a temporary fix, is it?

Conversely, we are paying a third of Ighalo's contract, at a club that still wants him. It really isn't the same.

Exactly

People literally want to moan about everything
Nice logic. Well I am free as well and if I score 1-2 goals, it will be succes anyway. Btw they dont need to pay me 200k for week but of course they can, if they want. :-)

Cant believe this is actually happening
I mean we're obviously desperate and need anything. But how bad is the planning that it was obvious we needed an attacker since last summer when it was obvious Lukaku was leaving... and we leave it til deadline day of January to get Ighalo in on loan. Like.. is there really nobody else?

Nothing wrong about this signing. PSG signed Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Real Madrid signed Julien Faubert, and so on. Ighalo is premier league proven and he will add an experience number on our bench. What the worst that can happen? It continues to show how incompetent we are in players recruiting? We have a strong 11 and we landed our key man in Bruno. There is no expectation on Ighalo (unless we give him ridiculous wages), and he will give us another option on bench. It is not like he is being bought to displace Martial. However, that is the wrong mentality to have.

We should have went for a Gabriel Matinelli -esque signing instead.

Everyone thinks of the market as though it's like going to Costco and picking a player, yet Chelsea and Spurs have been trying all window for a striker and havent landed one. Nobody apart from United have strengthened this window, so consider that please before venting your feelings.

This is a low risk, high reward deal. We should be pleased
This is a bit too rational. You must be in the wrong forum.

Why, is he banned from training those two weeks? He's reportedly already in preseason training so its not like he's just getting up off his couch.
....If I haven’t misunderstood the word “quarantined” my whole life then yes, he would be banned from training...am I being stupid here? Someone please correct me if I am.

We've had all month to get something done, this panic shit is why we end up in a mess so often, the fact we are now loaning a bum from a league that doesn't even rank in the top ten is crazy.
He's a Nigerian International and ha played in the PL though. He's not exactly a bum mate.

We haven't got £50/60m for every single player.

He's coming from Shanghai, not Wuhan. Unless every Chinese traveler is being quarantined, I doubt they are going to put him in an isolation chamber for two weeks.

the people bitching and moaning will change their tune when Martial goes down injured and Ighalo is the only thing saving us from playing Lingard as our false 9.

He's a proper bum and the definition of a panic buy. Probably the most panic buy we've had in recent memory.

People, Com'on, it's a loan. He'll give us much need presence up front for the next 6 months.

Would people here prefer that we get no one? What's the thinking?

injuries, and now try to cover up. Its ok with loan on Ighalo. Not many players in market so lets cheer up. Remember 1986 , Fergie out, wrong players in club.
C'mon United!!

Being an International doesn't mean anything, Emile Heskey was an international as well, and he played in the PL years ago, Wayne Rooney was still an option back then, players regress as we saw with him.

Desperation signings are awful to make.

And we had all month essentially. Is Ighalo really the best option we could find?
True but this is only a 6 month loan, it’s not like we’re gonna be stuck with him for the next 3-4 years if he turns out to be shit. I think he may surprise a few folk, he’s obviously not world class but if he’s still anything like the guy that was playing for Watford he’ll be a handful.

in regards to the 2nd part of your post look who’s running us, have we done anything competently since Fergie retired? Yes if we acted like a proper club this would’ve been sorted out in the summer when we sold Lukaku or a striker should’ve been sounded out for this window and signed when it opened but no we’ve arsed about all window to sign Fernandes and now are scrambling around on deadline day trying to sign a striker. We’ve been knocked back in our approach’s for Ings and King so now at this point yes Ighalo is probably the best option we can get.

Wow nice quote @Devil may care. I see you recommended we sign him a few years back too.
Yeah, Rooney was good a few years back as well, lets ignore 3 years in a fecking trashbag league though and make out like this is the same player I made that post about in 2016, honestly nevermind Woodward and the Glazers, this attitude of taking whatever is shoveled at us is why the club is in such a mess.

Ha ha, so true.

Replacing two fullbacks where we're now very well stocked with Shaw, Williams, AWB and Dalot with two players in positions where we desperately need reinforcements is a very good window in my eyes.

Naive mistakes were made in the Summer so it's good to see we've balanced out the squad somewhat if we get this over the line.

Yeah but not selling Lukaku when he more or less handed in a transfer request wouldn't fetch 70m. Had Lukaku been around still, I doubt we'd be any higher up the table. Now we got a cry baby off our books which ultimately financed the Bruno purchase.

Why would your opinion change so drastically just because he played in China? And did well to, it's not like he was coasting and partying during his time there.

Big lump, can bang them in, what's not to like. I see him more as someone that Greenwood/Martial/James can play off.
