Not saying this is fact, far from, but is it so impossible, like Quatar before them, that the Saudi's see they need change and inviting the world into the country whilst trying to appoint worldwide relationships that could help in this regard for improved change, is the right way to go?

Who is to say, that the next generation of Saudi royalty won't buy completley into this philosophy and push the agenda further? Every country and government have sick and appaling history, some still present today. But imagine if none of the regimes, countries, governments never got the chance. I mean 60 years ago it was fair game to hang a person based on the colour of skin in America and even make a holiday out of it!

Everybody needs a chance to change, and changing out of a very strict religeous nation isn't something accomplished over night.

Imagine the jubilation the people of saudi will feel of the world takes more notice of their country.
I’d go as far as saying they have to change. The world is already beginning to reject fossil fuels. The Saudi’s are obviously aware the oil won’t last forever as well and have started investing in foreign brands instead.

Unethical owners/brands can’t be as successful as they have been in the past, because people won’t use them. Hopefully the free market will create a world where the Saudis need to either reform or get used to not being filthy rich anymore (in theory, at least).

You're entitled to your opinion about whether they are or they are not nice people.

I'll have them at OT because they're our last hope, but I'll hate them as much as you if they buy Newcastle who then become the new PSG or the new Citeh and we fall even further behind.
Opinion? Jaysus read a newspaper.

Some things are more important.

The point of moot anyway. No one is paying as much as United is worth when you can pick up another club with a decent sized fan base for a fraction of the cost.

Why was this bumped? Thought the rumours died down and it was pretty clear they were going to Newcastle? Has anything new happened since?

General question but I'm wondering if all those who state they will no longer follow the club, will all leave the Caf, or will they hang around like a bad smell moaning about the owners?

Glazers can make a profit of 3 billion. I don't know why would they refuse 4 billion offer if all this rumours are true? They make early profit around 50 mil max, right? So where is the logic in refusing offer? They are not here because they love United or because they want some social status. They are here for the money.

Btw, poll would be interesting regarding this topic.

I think what Pogba has done is, for sure, self-interested but is also one of the greatest things ever done for our club. He rebelled against the short-term, selfish, big-time manager that is Mourinho making him lose his job and then played very well in OGS' temporary period so that he could get a contract.

As it became clear that Man Utd were not going to overhaul the squad with investment, he has refused to play for the club anymore. The Glazers are clearly satisfied with us being a top 4 contender (barely) and it is no place for a potential Ballon D'Or winner in the prime of his career running out of time. It is also no place for Manchester United. Clearly, if he values himself he doesn't want to be part of this Glazermess. But, if he loves the club, as he clearly does, he wouldn't want to stay and watch while the club is being torn apart by them.

So, Pogba not playing for us is making our results worse and reducing the value of the club that is also putting pressure on these chintzing chancer Glazers. If, by some minor miracle, the Saudis do end up buying Man Utd and getting rid of this disease that people like Mourinho and, in general, the Glazers have infected us with for the past 15 years, we will have a lot to thank Paul Pogba for.

[sarcasm] Dont you know? He had surgery and everything just to fool Manchester United supporters that he actually is injured and not faking it to force a move away.... Mino Raiola told him to do so!

Really.... [/sarcasm]

No.....I don't see any difference.
People in Saudi are executed on the authority of the government and executed by people employed by the government
People in the USA are executed on the authority of the government and executed by people employed by the ( State ?? ) government
Executed in a different way, of course, but executed nonetheless.
Now....I'd draw the line on being owned by a Saudi executioner, but not their employer.
This is like saying I’d draw the line on being owned by a german guard at Auschwitz, but not Adolf Hitler.
As I see it, it'd be a win-win.
We'd have the money to compete again...
And if Redcafe is anything to go by, too many outraged posters on here will be doing something else instead of supporting us and so I'll have no problem getting tickets for our matches if this takeover happens.
So basically you would condone genocide provided that we have money to compete again it makes it easier for you to get tickets.

This post really just needs one of those “lost for words” style “what the actual feck did I just read” gifs in response.

Every morning I hope to read that this club is sold and the Glazers and woody have gone.
Not necessarily the Saudi's but some other rich oil barron that will put money in to the team rebuild, and restructure of the stadium.

I would love for the House of Saud to change and when they do maybe they would become suitable owners for a football club but right now they are still a murderous regime who do not respect human rights and kill people for protesting or being homosexual.

Would you be happy for your daughter to marry a murderer provided he promised to try and stop over time or would you want him to have already proven that he has rehabilitated?

True if there is indeed an offer then they will take it because tbh they will take ages to make that kind of money. The amount of cash they get is peanuts compared to what they could make in a one off sale and the club is actually not performing very well in terms of profitability. They could just sell up and purchase prime real estate and make money without the hassle that comes with owning United.

A lot of people have said that they will stop supporting the club NOT stop following the club. You can stop buying season tickets, stop buying official merchandise and make your disapproval of the owners known and still follow the team, follow results and moan about the owners on the Caf

Yep I find that bizarre, like complaining about your ex getting a new bloke after you’ve dumped her. Some people need to make a clean break, if it offends them that much.
I’ve seen plenty of owners come and go, my bond with the club goes much deeper than whoever owns it. I find it bizarre that people complain about the owners and fans never organise themselves to do something about it. PLC was about the best we got as fans and yet we allowed business people to buy up the vast majority of shares.

I really don't see how that analogy holds up.

A more appropriate one is that it would be like finding out a family member was a psychopath, who had killed someone in cold blood. You'd probably cut off all ties in that scenario.

I think it will come to a point where more fans would be ready to close their eyes to Saudis sportswashing attempts in order to get rid of the Glazers.
Then Glazers would sell. In the meantime the Saudis will be busy buying reporters in the West in order to promote their agenda and sell the idea to United fans who are against Saudi buy out

While I'd rather not have them, from an owner perspective I'd rather them than the Glazers as they would 100% be backing the club to win and not backing it to just grt 4th.

Realistically they or someone like them are the only way the Glazers (who are derided everywhere) are going to leave.

Keep up, basically you said that you would draw the line at being owned by a Saudi executioner but not their employer the House Of Saud.

I said that this is like saying I’d draw the line on being owned by a german guard at Auschwitz, but not Adolf Hitler.

Having provided that hypothetical example, you said that the way you see it, it would be a win-win and that we'd have money to compete again and it would be easier for you to get tickets.

So my example was the Nazis but hypothetically any genocide will do.

The old days and the soul of the club would be well and truly dead if the house of Saud takes over. Most of United's history was building on hard-won victories, reinvesting in the club, earning our way. Abramovitch at Chelsea and the oil men at Man City destroyed that old system of clubs being fan-driven and responsive. The Sauds taking over would make us even worse, because we already know what happens to a club that sells its soul. Winning is not that important to me.

Might stay for the General, CE and Other Sports. But wouldn't really pay attention to United or footy in general.

TBH I dont think the Saudi's buying a football club will make the world a better or worse place. There is probably going to be even more open discussions about the ethics of the Saudi Regime than there already is.

I'd have no issue with them being our owners. There's enough politics going on in the world to be worrying about politics in football too. I know many others feel the opposite about them. That's fair enough.

The tennis, wrestling, golf and boxing are embracing the Saudis so why not football?
The Glazer's are shit owners but they don't kill, torture and imprison people. They don't cause political and military problems in many countries.

We should be demanding fan participation in club ownership, like Germany. Not capitulating and swapping the selfish and incompetent Glazers for an autocratic Dictator who heads a murderous and tyrannical regime.

Long post alert -

So many people saying they would stop watching United because of how bad the Saudis are. I agree that they had and have been responsible for a lot just like most of the oligarchs, sheikh's etc. all over the world. Heck people talk about the reporter dying but that's next to nothing compared to the labor conditions that people from the Indian sub continent and some other third world countries have to go through over there. All the media in the world would cover the fight for minimum wage because some politician props that up in their campaign in the west while having no problems in taking millions or billions in funding from the sheikh's.

However when people say they will give up watching United, how many things will you actually give up ? Ordering from Amazon ? Or maybe stop using most of the social media sites out there. Uber ? Stop using a PC ? Or the phone you use ? Because all these would have money from the Saudis and the likes involved. Stop using iPhones, Lenovo, Nokia, Huawei etc. I mean all these are manufactured in China. The same country that has detention camps for the Uyghurs. Thing is I don't know how we are where we are and still manage to put up a straight face and say I wouldn't support United because of the person who's putting money into the club. We are listed on the stock exchange. Would you be fine with a lot more of the club being put on the exchange ? So the glazers could exit and we could be market listed and owned by money that doesnt come from the Saud? But then how would you know if one of the largest funds out there decides to buy a bulk of the shares and that fund were to be mostly on Oil money ? And if you knew, would you stop supporting the club or would it then be ok because hey, it's somehow different ? I don't know what difference it makes but I guess as long as they don't ask the club to partake in their version of money go round, I can't be bothered simply because I wouldn't know where to start carrying and where to end.

People talk about man city and psg or Chelsea earlier but I guess the bigger concern in these cases have been about what happens when the owners stop financial doping. Would these clubs fall off the cliff if the owner suddenly lost interest ? Since they don't have a sustainable business model without constant funding. A bit like the startups that keep losing money eternally in the hope that they would eventually be big enough to become self sufficient. To an extent, Chelsea is much closer to self sufficiency than during the time abrahamovic was throwing crazy money around. Think they even turned a profit the pervious couple of years. So I guess they are better off post the Abrahamovic era. There is no certainty city or psg can follow the same route. But that isn't as big a concern for me with United. That's all I could care about wrt United for now. Much as I could try, not a whole lot about the murderous Saudi regime.
