He always looks great when we don't have 60-70% + possession of the ball, 46% Yesterday, 38% against City on Sunday, 38% in the 2 - 0 against City at the bridge.

Quite simply, he's great probably the best in the world at intercepting, tackling, energy, running, breaking with the ball and covering space, but very average in possession in the advanced role when we dominate possession against any decent team.

He played well last night but you cant seriously believe what Sarri is asking of him is the best use of his ability? That's the crux of the matter
His best position is in a midfield 2 with the team playing counter, it a role that now doesn't exist in not only Sarri's Chelsea but near enough every top side in Europe so it's about finding his best position within a new system.

Do i believe he's better in his current position than his role in Conte/Ranieri sides? No, but between that position and a sitting DM i'll choose the former all day long.

Not sure why people are championing that performance as if its Kante at his best.

Pogba won the ball for us against Palace and Liverpool more than Kante did for Chelsea against Spurs.

Jorginho made twice as many tackles and won the ball over 3 times as much if you include interceptions too.

He was a bit better going forward than some of his other games on the right of midfield. Thats it

Yeah, it's criminal the way he's used. Like having R9 at left back.

No one will really talk about it but I think Sarri is making Kante a more complete player.

Absolutely. No reason why such an explosive player should be limited to a DM role. He has the potential to become a very unique box to box threat.

The irony is a lot of the people who are crazy about pressing do not seem to get why Kante is more useful away from the deepest midfield role. Who else better than Kante when attempting to win the ball higher up the pitch?

Horribly limited as a technical footballer. Extremely one footed and one dimensional on the ball.
But loves a tackle, which is all the fans really want I suppose.

There is no point. People are set in their beliefs. That is why the purpose of a Jorginho deeper and a Kante doing pressing higher up pitch made little sense to them.

That is why till now they will go on insisting Kante 'is the problem out of position' in Chelsea's midfield. Rather than the under performance of Barkley and Kovavcic as AMs and the fact their right attackers has been inconsistent and their center forward bar Giroud ineffective.

One of the best I've ever seen, that's for sure. Plus he still has a wide range of action and makes recoveries in deeper areas. The way he breaks up opposition attacks with pace, anticipation & tackling skill is a sight to see.

yes Kante being higher up the pitch when winning balls as opposed to simply screening the defence, is something no one else ever thought of doing, I mean its not like he was a key player in a title winning side doing just that is it ...

Yes but the narrative was that he wasn’t doing that and was playing deep.

yes well that's because pundits and journalists are lazy and won't change when they have their name for how you play a lot of them still think we are just a counter attacking side

Fans as well.
I can't remember which idiot it was but after we beat Arsenal some pundit was talking about how Leicester usually don't like the ball, clearly showing he hadn't watched us much recently especially under Brendan

Terrible. Infact terrible since 18 months ago..
I think that pragmatic managers like Conte and Deschamps suit him perfectly.

If he is asked to play possession football, as he has under Lampard and Sarri, it doesn’t suit him so well.

Definitely a CDM. A bit more adventurous, but definitely a CDM.

Absolutely world class at cleaning up and moving defense to attack. Shifting him so far up the pitch complicates things too much.

I still don’t understand why Chelsea keep wasting this guy just to play a very average player like Jorginho.

I'd buy him if they'd sell. Can see Madrid come calling in the summer though.
