I feel any DLM we go for predominantly needs to be an agile yet not diminutive adept tackler. As long as he can find a simple ball to Fernandes and Pogba ahead of him they can use their excellent passing skills to create.

If there was a superb DCM with passing too, then all the better. But I would prefer to go for as close to a Matic build as possible with a dose of the agility and ground cover of Fred. And that's where I end up with McT. Tenacious, combative, good build, yet not agile/technical enough imo to repeatedly negotiate/create in a final third.

What names would you ideally like as your DLM?
I don’t know to be honest, someone of a Carrick or Alonso Ilk in an ideal world I guess.

Our first team now is Fred, McTominey and Bruno. Three players who want to be here and are committed to the club, helping guide us through a difficult period and being totally committed.

They compliment each other very well and each one bring different attributes to the midfield.

I have no interest in shoehorning in a player who has spent the last year using his agent to make it clear how little he thinks of the club and how much better he deserves things.

As Matić gives back up to the defensive pairing, that can be Pogbas role for Bruno until the summer when he finally gets the move he wants.

Good luck to him, but if you don’t want to be here and go out of your way to remind us consistently, then we won’t miss you.

We need top four or Europa so ultimately for those that don’t want Pogba playing (rightly or wrongly) he HAS to play for us to actually have a good chance. Like it or not, he’s probably still our best player.

Personally I’d play him on the left with a freeish role to roam. That way we can have Fred, McT and Bruno midfield which I think is more combative. Pogba can do what he’s good at, attacking, and have to do less of what he’s not good at, defending.

Can't really argue with the sentiments and reasoning.

However we did u-turn on Rooney what, 3 times? I wouldn't say it's passed the bounds of reason for no good offers to come in, and for Pogba and the club to quietly go about reintegrating him and therefore playing them both in the first XI. And I reckon by now they'll already know whether or not a financially amenable exit is on the cards or not. So if it's not looking likely then shoehorning to reintegration will be needed asap!

Pogba isn't going to be playing for us again. Pin it. (Or if he does it'll be a token farewell gesture)

I just can't wait to have Pogba out of the club for good. Gomes apparently had a worse injury but he's back for Everton.
Of course am not blaming him for our season but the lack of commitment and the shit spout by his agent has left a sour taste in my mouth.
He has been a huge disappointment and I just want this chapter to come to an end and hopefully we move past this as a club.
I don't dream of any partnership with him in our team.

Be exciting to see.

Fernades gets into some pockets of space, but Matic, Fred and McTominay don't always have the vision and ability to find that pass. Pogba does!

I get your point, but I don’t think Rooney’s situation was ever as consistent and as constant as Raiolas relentless opinions and aggressive posturing.

Rooney was also in a squad with many strong characters and pros, under a much more experienced manager (we saw how placating him went post-Ferguson)

I think this team is fragile and we are seeing roots of recovery, but it’s a delicate situation. Pogba is being needlessly distracting and has the opposite mentality to the one the club is trying to cultivate.

If he backs down and decides to be a part of the team and really participate as an experienced member of the squad and is ready to be a role model for these younger players, then great.

But I just think we have seen too much of his attitude up until now to believe that he is ready to put the club before his own needs. He is very well paid and doesn’t even go to some important games to support his teammates. It’s just so disappointing.

Honestly, I would take 80 million and use it towards Sancho and we would be a better team for it.

Personally in the easier home games i'd play Pogba next to Fred with Fernandes ahead.

We could also switch to a 4-3-3 with both of them as 8's with fred/Mctominay behind.

I'd actually like to try Pogba as a left sided CAM/winger hybrid, he's got the ability and physique to play as a wide playmaker, which could get a stronger base off Fred/Mctominay behind them both.

Sell Pogba, get Grealish and one of Partey, Neves, Ndidi. If we are to grow as a club, and get our top spot back, we need to grow a spine and tell any player and his agent we can ruin their lives and career if they want to feck with United and try to put the club at ransom. If nobody is interested in buying him at 120 m... put the guy on bench for test of his contract. Nobody and his agent should feck with United. We can even move forward with signing a Kalvin Phillips but can never allow any super star's agent to mess with us.

Pogba and Bruno might not work well. Bruno needs a disciplined ball recycler behind him because he has a high chance of losing the ball with ambitious, risky progressive passes. Pogba is not always going to be interested in playing janitor around him. Scott and Fred give him a much better foundation to operate from

Some people will be very upset, heartbroken even, when they realise Pogba won’t be a ‘squad player’ when he returns to fitness.

Under a tree.
People are still on the Pogba bandwagon...ok

At what point do you accept he should just move on? Grealish & Partey for the Pogba money would be a massive upgrade for the squad

I think going forward our first choice midfield trio should be Fernandes, McTominay and Fred and Pogba should be used when and as needed instead of Pereira with Matic as fifth choice.

I don’t think Fernandes and Pogba end up on the pitch together unless we’re playing someone who’s out and out parked the bus and we need as much creativity as possible, to be honest unless Pogba shows that he’s bang up for playing for us and performs then he shouldn’t just automatically be given a place as Fernandes has been a breath of fresh air whilst the McTominay/Fred duo have been great this season.

There’s been a lot of interesting chat on this topic, and Pogba is clearly one of the polarising players in the squad, although reading through here most players have a split following these days.
I think your figure is closer to what we’ll end up getting, and I think you are right on Sancho - he would improve is more than Pogba at this point without a doubt. Ideally, I’d love Pogba to change his mentality, dump his agent and commit to Utd. However, given the choice of Pogba or Sancho, I’d choose Sancho every time. He won’t be cheap though.

Aslong as we get £100m I'd sell Pogba.

He killed Fred's game.
He killed McTominay's game.

Fernandes brings the best out of them all.

Use the 100m towards buying a CDM, CM, LB or Sancho.

Give Pogba a free role and he only runs forward.

Give Fernandes the free role and he does it all

No team in the world can offer two players a free role so get rid to get another good signing or two in.

I wish it was different but Pogba will never be what we want him to be.

No, he'll probably come back and this time actually play as if his future is dependent on a level of sustained high-level performances...and I suspect the only people that will be 'heartbroken' are his acolytes, when he fecks off in the summer.

Watching Bruno you see why some prefer Pogba further back, he doesn't have the same speed of thought or movement as Bruno. They should work well together, if they get a chance.

Pogba stamped his authority on the team in his debut too, while not playing in what many deemed his best position. Undoubtedly Fernandes comes with less baggage but the notion that he's doing something Pogba couldn't manage is clearly false.

When's Pogba ever got a free role?

He’ll play as well as he can. That may not mean he’ll be brilliant every game, unless you are pushing some narrative that all of his bad games have been by choice because he hates it here, doesn’t care bla bla bla.

We’ll see if he goes anywhere in the summer.

And this is where the moneymen will have to decide just how lowball a depreciated offer they can stomach in order to achieve this greater good; which I appreciate and prefer.

But as you say it certainly is a delicate balancing act. In our current standing we're only ever one news story and accompanying bad result away from a wave of negativity that actually does have the potential to drag the club downward. If that wave continues for too long, managerial uncertainty follows, perhaps player unrest behind the scenes...and the motions are set in place for damage limitation as opposed to continual growth.

For continual growth along the vein we're purporting to set out yes I would say we need to part ways. The relationship has probably ran its course and the two parties are now wasting each others energy/resources on each other when they should be moving on for their own mutual benefit.

With that said, could you imagine if we lost him on a free again in two years

Pogba deserves dick. Getting paid handsomely to vacation in Dubai while he pretends to be some woke character on Instagram while his teammates work their ass off to commit to the squad. Yeah feck him.

It would be interesting to watch the two of them together, but I think it would be very brief as Pogba will move on in the summer.

Barely a month and Bruno looks like the leader we wanted Pogba to be.

And people keep saying that this team is holding back Pogba. Early times but it looks like it isn't holding Bruno.

Not sure how Bruno and Pogba would work in the same midfield. Too similar for me, it would be like a midfield of Lampard and Gerrard England tried to play and failed for years.

We all know Pogba can’t do the defensive work required for a deep lying midfielder. We would become too open once again.

100% Agreed, If he thinks he is better than our club then he should find a deal who can pay 100m+ OR he should stop his antics and accept the fact he is not everyone's cup of tea.

It's such a shame Barcelona paid 150M to a player like Coutino but no one bothers to bid 100m+ for Pogba.

I wanted to use him on left side in front 3 (with SMT/Fred/Bruno midfield) as we are paying his wages and we should use his services to qualify for CL or even win a trophy. Euro's will be his motive too so I think its clever to put him in the team rather going sentimental and not to use him while paying 300K a week?

I really want to get rid of this Pogba circus but who can pay that heavy transfer fee? May be PSG?

IF (when probably) Pogba leaves, the only 3 clubs out there that are willing (assuming) and can pay 100m+ is Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG.

I would require:
€110m and Ramsey from Juventus
€1300 from Real Madrid
€130m from PSG - Because they spend always more then needed when they really want someone, and to get a french player born near Paris would be a win-win-win situation for all three parts (Man Utd, PSG and Pogba...sorry lets not forget the greedy c**t Raiola.

Pogba money + €20m we could buy Ndidi/Thomas Partey and Jack Grealish.

Reports saying we have around €180m to spend this next window. That would mean (IF we sell Pogba and Glazers actually uses the money to add it on the decided transfer budget) that we will still have around €150-160m left to spend. That money should be more then enough to get Sancho over, give them €100-120m and there will still be another €30-40m left to spend on a decent striker. Someone that will put in 10-15 goals overall (PL+CL/EL+FA and the league cup). €40m for Andrea Belotti (his currently value on transfermarket) for example would suite us perfect and we dont have a type of striker like him atm, if dont count Ighalo.

That would give us a starting eleven looking something like this:

1.
...............................De Gea
Wan Bissaka Maguire Lindelöf Williams
.............................Fred Ndidi
...............Sancho Fernandes Martial
.............................Rashford

2.
...............Romero
Dalot Bailly Tuanzebe Shaw
....... McTominay Matic
Greenwood Gomes James
.................Belotti

Out on loan (players that might have the chance to eventually play in the first team):
Henderson
Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Garner
Chong

I know there is a lot of hate for pogba on here. But if he can sort his head out and be the player we all know he can be
This can be a realistic starting 11 for next season

Degea
AWB
Maguire
Bailey
Shaw

Mctomminy
Bruno
Pogba

Rashford
Martial
Sancho

Squad
Williams
Fred
Greenwood
James
Lindeloff

That's just with one signing.
Imgaine if we sign 3!

Can't wait to see them play together just to see Pogba's reaction when the fans shouts Bruno's name constantly.

On a side note however, I think we still need Pogba till the end of this season. It's clear from today's game we need some creativity from deep which were lacking from Matic and Fred.

Hope to see Pogba play in a midfield 2 like how we used him at the start of the season and Bruno at number 10. Hopefully we replace Pogba with a proper deep lying playmaker at the end of the season though.

That would be my worry too. A disruptive influence staying for two more years and then leaving on a free.

I am starting to like this United team and have a fondness for the players. You find yourself rooting for them because you see their effort and desire on the pitch, even when they make mistakes.

Pogba doesn’t fit into that mould for me and I would take a bit of a hit on his transfer fee to be able to use it to bring in someone who is really keen to play for us.

It is nothing to do with his consistency or his playing style. I just think his attitude doesn’t gel with the squad that is being built and I would rather see another enthusiastic body in his place.
