MLK's letter needs to be read more often. It's a stunning document.
yeah, one of the most honest piece of "political" literature. I always found it funny that these moderates would quote MLK in the debate stages but never ever go near quoting anything from that letter.

Thucydides nuts
I don't know which would be worse:
That they are so callously oblivious to the struggle that they don't even bother trying to understand the MLK message.
Too stupid and inept to comprehend the message.
Or that they are so duplicitous that they deliberately Newspeak the message.

Much respect to anyone who continues to fight on in the face of such obstructionist acts from those trying to claim your colours. I don't have that type of fortitude.

Look on as noted white moderate and Biden strategist Hilary Rosen lectures the black history major Nina Turner about what Martin Luther King really meant before informing Turner that she lacks the standing to quote him and shouting her down:

She then goes on to assume that standing for herself in order to paraphrase him on twitter:

I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and that when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress. I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that the present tension in the South is a necessary phase of the transition from an obnoxious negative peace, in which the Negro passively accepted his unjust plight, to a substantive and positive peace, in which all men will respect the dignity and worth of human personality. Actually, we who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. We bring it out in the open, where it can be seen and dealt with. Like a boil that can never be cured so long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must be exposed, with all the tension its exposure creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured.

It's the blind arrogance more than anything.
This is really cringeworthy from Rosen.

So suits his campaign. But jokes aside, if you're working on the campaign/surrogate etc for the bloke that has had good relationships with segregationists and actually talks about good legislative work he did with them, maybe hold back on belittling a black woman that knows what she's talking about. :houllier:

Not tweeting that would’ve been infinitely more effective than continuing to dig herself into a deeper hole.
Impressively, that appears to be her second attempt, after she deleted the first.

What is actual politics?
Rallies, fund raising, canvasing, community and work place organising, strikes, voting etc(And even then you need certain economic conditions to possible get a chance at real change). The only political use social media has during elections is when the Sanders campaign sent out warnings of incoming I.C.E raids or showing support to workers on strike, everything else it just screaming into the void.

Did any of the awful decisions Warren made during this campaign come as the result of people posting snake memes or are her decisions perfectly in line with someone who was a republican until the age of 40 and someone who took pride in gutting leftist education from her workplace. And the same with her supporters how many are actually not voting Bernie(And thus letting Biden win)due to the ''bro's'' online being mean rather than then looking for any old excuse not to possible one day pay for universal healthcare. feck even if they truly don't want to vote for Sanders because of the online memes, this only a expression of their own class interest, upper class white PMC viewing politics as a tv series where every four years they get to chose new characters. The kindest reading you could these Warren supporters is their stupid response over the online stuff is a reaction to a crisis of their ideology.

This is what the Sanders campaign is having to deal with.

While the media have been expressing faux outrage over a tiny minority of Bernie supporters posting mean tweets, this happened yesterday and the media have ignored it.

I can't believe that the Nazi flag news story isn't even on the front page of CNN. But "Bernie Sanders' older brother says he's 'definitely not a Bernie bro'" made the cut.
Journalists are online and so...

Anyway, as night follows day

You may be on to something here, if only twitter was real as real politics, Corbyn and Sanders would be flying high right now.

Sadly not. It would be more like President Rihanna with the VP being a gif of a cat playing the piano.

A small number of prolific U.S. Twitter users create the majority of tweets, and that extends to Twitter discussions around politics, according to a new report from the Pew Research Center out today. Building on an earlier study, which discovered that 10% of users created 80% of tweets from U.S. adults, the organization today says that just 6% of U.S. adults on Twitter account for 73% of tweets about national politics.

Though your experience on Twitter may differ, based on who you follow, the majority of Twitter users don’t mention politics in their tweets.

Rather telling how Biden and his surrogates have not commented on the Nazi flag incident. They have been quick to lecture Sanders on his nasty online supporters, but wont show solidarity when a Nazi turns up at a rally to intimidate a Jewish presidential candidate.

I’ve just been reading dozens of Biden supporters calling Nina Turner nasty for her not enjoying Hillary Rosen lecturing her about MLK. Many progressives supposed beliefs disappear extremely quickly once they get into an election season.

Greenwald once again showing what a fraud is. Defender of George Bush's Iraq decision back in the day ("he was for it before he was against it"), mocked people who were fervently anti-Trump as "resistancelibs" until Brazil elected their Trump and now he faces the same issues there, and now this

Not sure what it's celebrating, but that's some weird shit.
It's a poorly written essay that aims to promote the notion that social pressures often lead to dysfunctional gender roles, bad relationships and poor psychological outcomes.

It does definitely provide disqualifying proof that America should never elect him as opinion writer in chief.
