I can’t stand this modern era of overreaction. Now in Krakow, everything is closed except bars and restaurants. I’m now stuck here for 4 days and all the tourist attractions are closed. 25 people have got the virus in Poland, 25!!! Wtf is wrong with people these days.
Bloody Poles. What have they ever done for us? Apart from containing a virus that could potentially kill millions of people, fill up ICUs beds in hospitals instead of other diseases. Bloody poles

They have to bring the season to a halt imo.

Restart it in May and cancel the Euros

Or play the Euros and abandon the club football.

I read that if Serie A is suspended there’ll be no winner and all European places will go to the teams in them at the point of suspension
That's strange, so freezing positions? What about relegation?

Surely now it’s been confirmed as a pandemic by the WHO, they surely need to cancel the season. There is no other viable solution.
I hate to break it to you, but cancelling the league and making Liverpool’s wait go on may do a lot of good, but it won’t eradicate this coronavirus.

If a whole squad is struck down what happens?

A team could get relegated because they can't field a team?

I would imagine that somewhere in the rules of the league they would have documented state of emergency response. Since the leagues started there have been major wars and there's got to be a precedent which can be used.

Hah, the culture of Poland, Ukraine and probably most of Eastern Europe contains a lot of pearl clutching when it comes to common illness. Ukrainian repatriates from virus hotspots got attacked by armed gangs when brought back to be quarantined. Me and my wife always laugh at Ukrainian TV adverts: 90% are for shite pharmaceutical products, the other 10% for alcohol.

I imagine the streets being pretty empty makes Krakow pretty special. A fantastic city!

The rules are clear.

If games are unable to be played for a period longer than 60 days, the season is declared null and void.

No winners, no relegation, nothing.

Wonder if that's all games. Say Arsenal have it already that'll be a few week, then a couple more teams and that's the league voided?

I don't think the Government will allow the season to carry on but behind closed doors because then you'll get big crowds of people watching games in pubs, more risky than in an open air stadium.

If / when it gets serious, most people won't be going out at all, voluntarily. Will see hospitals overflowing with the sick and not enough intensive care beds and won't want to be joining in.

Football going to be the least of our concerns.
As a doctor, I’m genuinely curious as to how the workings of our healthcare system will change with this. We currently don’t have any cases, and long may it continue, but it really does make me wonder.

If we do get a confirmed case, will it make patients who have other issues less likely to come into hospital, for fear of contracting the disease?

Will they suspend/gut other services in the hospital to divert more resources to this? For example, I’m currently on the neurology team, who only see patients by referral so we’ll end up being pretty far from all of this. Will they say that in times like this neurology doesn’t need a full team, and take one or two of us and put us on units that will be dealing with this?

I can’t believe we’re actually in a title race against an infectious disease

What the hell! What a massive overreaction from the Polish/Chinese/Italian/Korean governments and the organisation in charge of maintaining health. If only people were rational and level headed like you, a tourist who wants a beer.
I live in Czech Republic now for many years and my boss is based in Warsaw. We are both absolutely grateful that we live in countries that have taken this virus seriously and acted immediately without delay and seeing what has happened in Italy, Germany, France and very soon will be the UK as well.

I’d imagine since if the title will be null and void then relegation will be too. Strange situation where the European spots will be valid but not the title/relegation. I don’t know how true it is as I said it’s just something I read from a journalist

Imagine a virus stopping a dominant Liverpool who are probably the best team in the world from possibly doing a CL and PL double. Not fair?

Neither was the banning of all English clubs from Europe due to a bunch of despicable Liverpool fans.

Some things are more important than football.

Yeah, also Liverpool could've stopped 3000 Madrid fans coming over and mixing with the UK population in close quarters but they didn't.

feck them. The PL should be cancelled at this point. Start afresh when safe.

Liverpool have absolutely nothing to complain about after their antics with this CL tie.
