Seems to be getting good reviews. Not quite at the level of RE 2 Remake, but didn't think it would to be honest. Campaign supposed to be very short with little replayability, apparently.

6 hours long apparently.

That doesn't turn me off honestly. My days of time sinks are coming to an end. But I will probably wait for a sale.

80 is a decent overall score but i expected a bit higher on Metacritic considering RE2 got 91. I would have absolutely zero problem with it playing exactly like RE2 but it sounds as if a few people are complaining about cut content which seems a bit lazy from Capcom.

Still really looking forward to it though.

Dont think I've ever paid full price for a Resi game.

Also, they're known for being brilliant yet quite short games. I mean, look at the countless speed-run vids on youtube.

Will happily wait til the price drops.

The apparent shortness of the campaign doesn't bother me. As others have mentioned, they're not really known for their long campaigns. I finished RE2 Remake a few times for trophies, and the one run i done i completed it in just under two hours. So these game can be breezed through.

Heard some crazy fact that if you remove the door cut scenes in the original RE games then a decent speed run from start to finish would take about 20 minutes.

Yeah you can’t really complain about the Resi games being short, they’ve always been like that.

I’m looking forward to this but my excitement has been tempered somewhat. Capcom have probably rushed it a tad, but it’ll be a fun playthrough regardless. More a case of ‘what if’ with this game I’d imagine.

That's crazy ,more so when you have to navigate through the puzzles. Unless I've overestimated the number of puzzles in these games, which wouldn't surprise me.

I mean, Resident Evil 2 Remake can be done in one hour but my first playthrough was 7 hours, so don't see the fuss about RE3 being short. Real problems are downgraded physics, Nemesis awkward AI and teleporting, Nemesis being too "scripted" in when he chases you compared to original RE3, laziness eg lots of reused assets from RE2, and I mean LOTS. Also getting RE5 and RE6 flashbacks with Carlos punching Hunters all over the place. I thought we were done with that Capcom?!

So yeah, 9 from IGN is very generous, this is max 7.5/10 from me, wouldn't be surprised it was rushed because of bad reception thier new project Resistance got so they rushed RE3 to bundle it with Resistance. Too bad one of my favorite RE games was rushed like this.

Will still play the heck out of it though as I adore Resident Evil.

I'd love a Code Veronica remake but I don't think that will happen if this game fails to meet the high sales and the acclaim of RE2. Cutting the clock tower section is just BS  :( Still, i'm looking forward to playing it.

Wonder if they might add more content like in RE2 with the ghost survivors thing? Maybe add the mercenary mode.

Watched a few reviews now and one aspect that is continually seen as a disappointed is the games title antagonist Nemesis.

I was initially interested in how the CAPCOM development team would differentiate Nemesis from the previous games big boss Tyrant appearance mechanics and unfortunately they've seemed to have gone down a rather uninspiring, unexciting scripted and ,fundamentally, a underwhelming experience as its choice. Bizarre.

I always figured Nemesis was going to be pretty damn hard to get right. Making him more scripted was probably a compromise they had to make, him being loose for the whole game stalking you just didn't sound like fun, especially the way he behaved in the demo.

I'm not too bothered about the game length, RE games were always short. I think they maybe set the bar too high with RE2 and this will inevitably fall short of that, it's just a case of understanding how good 2 was before beating 3 for not being as good.

Not thrilled about the 6 hours campaign, they seem to really put a lot of weight on their multiplayer game to make up for that and justify a full-price game. I'm not sold on it, especially since they've held back testing of the multiplayer game and delayed it. I'm not big on untested multiplayer, or multiplayer in general, so with such a short campaign, I don't think I'm too bothered. Especially with the FF7 remake coming out a few days later.

I have no problem with the game being short (I'm getting sick of mammoth 100 hours games), but it shouldn't be full price in that case. Especially not if it's reusing a lot of RE2's assets. I'll just wait for a sale.

Seems to be getting a lot of disappointing reviews, shame because I was looking forward to playing it in lockdown, now may wait for a sale. Kind of had a feeling it wasn’t going to live up to RE2 remake when I seen the gameplay, something definitely felt off.

Enjoying it but it's not as good as RE2, something feels missing. Some very cool moments so far though and I think I've probably finished the first section of the game.

Was surprised to learn that you can down him temporarily like in the original and he DOES in fact drop similar rewards. I knocked him down in the demo and he didn't drop anything. Fecker gets up very quickly though which is annoying but the rewards are worth it.

Think I'll purchase RE2 Remake on the Playstation store. Its at a decent-ish price at the moment.
I cant see myself getting this one, though.Which is a shame as I enjoyed the hell out of the original but this remake just seems like a underwhelming experience.

I'm up to the start of the demo and very much enjoying it. Although I couldn't be arsed last night doing the bits from the demo again, the opening was much better.

Yeah I saw that in a review, but they wouldn't reveal what was in the cases. I'm wondering if stunning him with environmental hazards counts because I took him down with one shot using the electric box in the demo.

Played the intro bit just to get a feel for it. Upto where the demo starts, but will continue it tonight when I've done some stuff I need to do.

Feels good so far though in all honesty. Looking forward to getting properly stuck in tonight.

I'm really enjoying it, it's excellent. Until Nemesis gets involved, then it's just annoying. Nemesis and a street full of zombies that you've already cleared just isn't fun. Running from him is annoying as he just jumps or whips your legs out. He does massive damage and can kill you with his punch combo right away, which I've yet to manage to dodge. Grenades take him down in one hit, but there are only so many grenades.

Do you get any drops from taking him out just with bullets? The two times I took him down was with grenades. I blasted him with those electric charger things and the barrels but I didn't get any drops on those occasions.

I tried REsistance and it's just not my thing at all and I am crap at these multiplayer team games where everyone seems to be playing at a different pace and I'm usually the one letting the team down or someone else is. If they'd just spent the time making a proper mercenaries mode and expanding and refining RE3 then they would have been onto a winner. I guess there'd be no way to charge for as many misconstructions with that plan though

I've not tried shooting him, but using grenades two out of the three times I did it I got an upgrade. It might have been all three, but one of them I grenaded him then legged it.

Is this £50? Seems like quite a chunk for what it is. I really enjoyed Resi2 remake though. I wanna spend some money on Resi this month so it’s between getting this or getting 1,4 and 5 on offer on PSN

I wouldn’t say it’s worth the £50 from what I’ve played so far but you could do worse than getting through the ones you mentioned and waiting for this to dip in price.

Full price game for a six hour campaign? Feck that.
Resi 2 was about the same length as was Resi 7. In a couple of days people will be completing this in less than 2 hours. I wouldn't let that taint your enjoyment of it. If anything, I'd say 6 hours of quality content is better than 50 hours of filler some games offer.

Yeah I don't get why it's suddenly an issue. Most of the RE games are fairly short.

The problem is we're in an era where many AAA games offer 50 hours of top content. I don't think there's anything wrong with calling out a game for not being worth full price if it's six fecking hours long. People used to do it all the time with the CoD games. it's a legitimate criticism, especially when this supposedly also reuses stuff from RE2.

Finished it earlier. Overall I thought it was a good game and enjoyable, but I am left with a feeling of it should have been a lot better. Feels like they rushed this a bit too much, whereas if they had taken their time a bit more and concentrated on the main game. Few thoughts;

- Nemesis was poorly done overall. Didn't find him scary, nor intimidating like Mr. X was. And once he was past his first form and simply became a series of boss battles, all sort of tension was lost. (Though I did enjoy the boss battles).
- Far, far too much from the original cut out of the game, to the point it barely felt like RE3. No real feeling of nostalgia like there was with 2. No Clock Tower segment was very very annoying as it was a great part of the game in the original.
- No Mercenary mode is deeply disappointing.
- Does anybody in gaming actually enjoy a scene where you have to constantly bash a button? I think the only time this has ever worked well was in the microwave tunnel in MGS4. Just stop doing them.

All that said it was still very fun to play. Carlos was a great character and I think they did a great job of Jill. Got the feeling they were hinting at a spin off of 3 at the end with Jill's 'detective' work?

All in all a solid game, should have been better though.

To be fair, they've bundled in Resistance (though I've zero interest in it myself) and then you've got the unlockables, tougher games modes, rank challenges etc. if you're into that sort of thing.

Imagine the new God of War was six hours long, or if The Last of Us 2 comes out and it's six hours long? People would slate the shit out of them. Resident Evil games just seem to get a free pass cause "well all Resi games are short so it's fine, here take m'money!"
