Many talk about Pogba saying that he's inconsistent here, but Asensio is on another planet.
So are the expectations, you could buy 26 Asensios with Pogba money. At least he's got the right attitude, unlike Pogba, who thinks he's already an all-timer.

@giorno @carvajal , what are your expectations of Asensio for the next season? Seems like he's stagnating, isn't he?
Probably the last chance for him to establish himself as a star with us. Don't know what to expect, seems like he doesn't have the right mentality

Will likely start the season as Vini's backup

Well, he has undoubtedly been my biggest disappointment last season.
I thought that with Zidane he would react but it has not been like that, and with Spain he has not done anything either.

I think it's his last chance, and possibly he knows it. I do not know what to tell you. I think he will play better but who knows

You’re really planning on playing Hazard anywhere other than LW?

My Spanish mates tell me that Asensio loves the Madrid nightlife. Do you hear that too?
If I was Madrid, I’d sell him while he still has a bit of a reputation. Get some good money for him. You have Brahim, Rodrygo and Vinicius to fight for that position anyways.

Pretty funny to see this post a year later after multiple reports of Asension not being serious about practicing and going out far too often.

It’s a real shame. I was so jealous when you guys signed him. Hope he turns the corner.

He doesn't try beating his man often enough. I don't really know if it's a case of not having the quality or just not being daring enough. He's very pacey and has outstanding shot, and that makes him very suitable for second halves.

In any case I want to see him in a competitive team again to see what he can do with his current level and how can evolve. Too many players were disappointing last season (him included, true), and that never helps.

If he can copy some of Hazard or Vinicius's moves that will be very positive for him.

I've heard of it and i don't even live in spain...

Between that, the waxing injury and his public refusal to take on a bigger role on the team...it doesn't paint the picture we'd like...

That's been a problem at Madrid since only God knows when. That's why some presidents and directors were obsessed with players getting married as soon as possible :D

Yes, that is the generalized rumor.
They say that since Ozil there was no one so faithful to the night.
In addition the players know well where to go not to be hunted (to the disco that Ramos owns for example).
It is said that Theo was his great colleague.
However I do not know if it is enough to justify such laziness and apathy.
Cristiano and Benzema also go out a lot.
I think he's a bit deified.

SAF supposedly had a similar sort of view with that, if I recall correctly.

Flo "You're always out at night! Why can't you be like Figo, he's always at home!"

Ronnie "Presi, if had Figo's wife i'd never leave home either"

Mamen is one of the best things that could happen to Real Madrid back then. God bless her.

?

His shot is filthy
You said Asensio would be Vinicius’ back-up. Vinicius played on the left-wing.

You didn’t mention Hazard. So I’m asking if you (as in, Real Madrid) are planning to play Hazard anywhere other than his best position which is left-wing?

Or do you mean Asensio would be 3rd choice on the LW behind Vinicius and Hazard?

That's for Zidane to decide. Hazard will start for sure and it's highly likely that Vini will as well. Probably neither will play wide i would say

He'll still come in handy for the team, maybe he's not ready to be a starter and carry the attack but he can still have an impact coming from the bench. Maybe he just feels better that way by letting other players have more responsibility than him.

Random bump but I was watching random highlights in Youtube and this player popped up.

Safe to say the hype was hugely over the top? He was being conpared to Mbappe on here...

Comparing him to Mbappe was over the top but he was a fantastic talent pre-injury.

Got to disagree. He was a bit of a one trick pony imo.
I can see where you're coming from but I'd argue no more so than Arjen Robben was. But what a trick.

The reason I use Robben isn't because I necessarily felt he was a one trick pony either but more the similarities in their game.

Maybe I was just lucky in the performances I caught, but I saw three full games from him on top of the usual highlights and he seemed like a future worldbeater. Had everything in his locker including x-factor.

It’s a shame he never kicked on. Looked a brilliant kid at Mallorca then had some great performances for Real but just fell away

And people say English players are overrated....

Never rated him and probably never will.
How is a kid who lost his mom at age 15 and a cripple, a literal cripple for a couple of years during his childhood until his teens count as being overrated?

And he's been kept out by a terrible injury.
Sir Alex would have been all over him.

You can't really say he was overrated when at the time he was a class player in the making, just didn't sustain that level, kick on and fulfil his potential. Wasn't the first player to do that and won't be the last

I would argue that you have just described exactly the scenario when you can say a player was overrated, despite the fact you started the sentence arguing the opposite.
