We need to send Greenwood out on loan.
Considering Greenwood gets PLENTY of gametime regardless of Ighalo, I don't quite understand where you're coming from? Is his development this season not enough? He's scored 14 in 38 games in the 19/20 campaign.

Are you under the impression he doesn't play?

Such a different reception to when he was initially announced. All that negativity was misplaced at the time, and now we can all see what an asset he can be. To think he wasn't even fully fit when playing for us.

Fully expect that loan to be extended again come January

Smart move by the club, gives Greenwood time to mature and by summer 2021 if we do need a striker Haaland will be itching for a move

Excellent news. Delighted for him, and lets us focus on the many other issues.

Rashford....Martial....Greenwood

with backs ups of

Sanchez...Ighalo....James

(assuming nobody wants to take sanchez on loan again ... and given his wages that seems reasonable)

Chong getting the odd game or loaned out

hummmm... perhaps we wont go for sancho?

central options: Martial, Rashford, Ighalo, Greenwood, Sanchez
Wide options, Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, James, Sanchez, Chong, Mata, Lingaard

Happy with this, only expected a short loan, didn't think it would be until January.
He’s not allowed to enter China until the end of their season so there is no point going back earlier.

Not sure you’re allowed to end loans at any random date you like either. January is the transfer window for England and China so makes sense to end there.

Really good news this especially given we are going to lack fitness and need to play a number of games in quick succession. Immediately takes the pressure off Rashford who is just returning from a long term injury.

Also Ighalo deserves it so made up for him.

OGS has managed Greenwood brilliantly. I wouldn’t trust a manager of another team to manage this lad - he’s not the type of player you loan out.

he’s made 36 appearances this season for goodness sake.

some posters are just mental.
I agree. Ole could have easily thrown Greenwood in the deep end when we had no striker and expect him to fill the void, he resisted that in favour of his development. Why is this? Ole cares about the long term future of this lad having seen him on a daily basis.

Buzzing with that news. Even better if Romano's information is accurate, that at the end of the loan we will have the option to buy. Lets us go after much more important targets too.

Good news. As we basically won't have any funds available for transfers, having Ighalo around gives us the numbers we need upfront.

Surprised Ed didn't find a way to drag this out until the summer so he could dress it up as a coup when we invariably fail to sign anyone else in the window.

Glad he's staying but doubt we'll buy a permanent striker until next summer. I'm glad to have a good squad option but we need more goals up top, if we are serious about challenging for this league.

That's good. I've very pleased for Ighalo and for us. He seems like the ideal option for the rotation, willing to fit in with squad needs and a different kind of attacking threat - it's the right moment in his career for this kind of job. He's done well for us so far.

This is perfect. We have a full lineup and a multitude of options to choose from for the rest of the season. It was very important we got him too.

The Bundesliga has shown that footballers are getting injured very easily in this restart. Lack of a proper “Pre season” after months away from serious football, and restricted cool downs and warm ups have only made this worse. Not to mention restricted contact between players and masseurs affecting recovery as welll.

We will need all the bodies we can get.

Great news and a no brainer. He's come in and performed well, shown a great attitude and looks comfortable in a United shirt.

Plus, on a personal level, I really enjoyed that 'juggling' goal against LASK, helluva bit of skill.

Excellent news. Settles the question of trying to buy a striker this summer: between Martial, Ighalo and Greenwood we have the ideal three options up front: a top-class footballer entering his prime, a reliable traditional #9 who's been around the block, and a dazzlingly gifted young talent who will want game time but hopefully not too much pressure to carry the attack just yet.

With the financial constraints we face this summer, there's a simply no room in the budget for a new striker. That makes this loan extension, an absolute no brainer.

But we don’t though do we? If all goes well;
Rashford - 20/30 goals
Martial -15/25 goals
Greenwood - 10/15 goals
Pogba - 10/15 goals
Bruno - 15/20 goals

and if we add Sancho a further 10/20 goals
which brings us to a total of 80 being conservative and 100+ in an exceptional season. Goals clearly are not going to be an issue when everyone is fit. This doesn’t even account for the goals that the other midfielders and defenders will add.

it’s a very outdated view that your central striker needs to be able to grab 40 goals as is shown by Liverpool amongst others.

We need to send Greenwood out on loan.
Why do we need to send him out? We're now looking the healthiest squad wise we have in a while, with great balance throughout. It would only hinder Greenwood by sending him out, he's going to get plenty of minutes and starts here next season, he'll be pushing Martial all the way for that starting role.

Let's not forget Greenwood started the season 17 years old, that's very, very young and a great bit of faith shown in him by Ole giving him as many minutes as he has this season, you don't start loaning talent like Greenwood out when he can be an asset to us already at his age.

Great news! Good squad player, loves the club. One area of the squad sorted for the season. Let's focus our attention on Sancho now!!

Brilliant news. It would have been stupid of us to spend 60 odd million on dembele when we need to strengthen other areas and could use the funds to purchase sancho.

Also, this could give some more time for Greenwood to grow and maybe convince the club that we may not need a striker.

Viva ighalo
In a nutshell...great move.
I hope Greenwood develops and steps in as a mature strikers.

This will at least kick the can down the road for a while in the striker department. Interesting to see Romano said we have a purchase option too. We’ll either use that or get another striker in January again (unless Shanghai agree to extend loan again) though, otherwise we’ll be in the same situation of ending the season light in attack. Perhaps by then someone like Chong has stepped up a bit to cover in attack.

This is a great low cost solution anyway; which we could have done with given the current climate.
