Great player to watch and incredibly productive too, probably the best player in the world right now.

Yep. Just gonna again reiterate that Mourinho decided to sell a generational player (overruling every scout / talent evaluator at the club) based on a single mediocre showing against Swindon having rotted on the bench for weeks beforehand.

Be an absolute travesty if he doesn’t win the PFA PoTY. Has been a level ahead of everyone else.

Of course he is the best player in the Premier League
I know, what type of question is that. For me personally, he's been the best since 17/18. Comfortably the best midfielder even when Modric stole the Ballon D'or.
On him being a Premier League Great, as a United fan I feel City players have been really marginalized and modern players too to an extent. I personally believe that the current Debruyne who has been dominant since 16/17 is the best midfielder in league history, but due to his association with City and the general belief that the league is at a lower standard than it was a decade ago ( which hasn't been true since 17/18), people find it really hard to put him up there. This is not to say that he is the greatest, as that requires time. But if he keeps going like this for a few more season, and given the amount of impact he has at City, what argument would people be able to make to suggest that Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard, Vieira, Keane or Yaya were better than him. For me, talentwise he's on the Henry/Ronaldo tier.

Him and Lewandowski.

Probably the two favorites for the Ballon d'Or too.
Now that I think about it, City - Bayern would make a great CL final.

Well said.....for me only Lampard was better than De Bruyne.

Yeah, that's fair enough. Who are the contenders, Ronnie, Henry and Cantona? Am I missing anyone?
Ronaldo and Henry would be the main contenders for me. I think they are the only two that I can think of that have arguably been the BPITW at their respective time (03/04 and 07/08).

People like Lampard/Scholes/Gerrard/Keane/Giggs/Vieira/Yaya/David Silva would probably be up there if it was other midfielders but I agree with the other poster that he's more talented than all of them.

Unpopular opinion- He'd be even more underrated at Bayern. Non-German players who play for Bayern usually are.
I would say that goes for Bayern players in general. They just don't get the same exposure and media backing/hype as the Spanish clubs. Ribery in 2013 was a good example of this.

Quite shocking that the last Bayern player to actually win the Ballon d'Or was Karl Heinz Rummenigge in 1981, when he won it for the second year in a row. That'll be 40 years next year.

KDB has been the best player in the league for a few seasons now, and in my opinion he's one of the best players I've seen in English football overall in my time as a football fan.

Imagine if we signed him instead of Mata from Chelsea...

He'd be one of the deadwood by now

I agree, no doubt some Liverpool player will walk it though.
Which would be funny given two seasons ago it went to Salah instead of De Bruyne. It was probably understandable at the time, but if now Henderson or Alexander-Arnold wins it, it will make a bit of a mockery of the award. Then again, not for the first time.

Exactly. If winning the league is the criteria then KdB should have won it in 2017-18, if being the best player in the league is criteria then he should win it this season.

But I don't think he will win it as Liverpool journalists and pundits have started the bandwagon and many have jumped in, following like sheep.

I don't think he's more talented than Yaya. And I don't think he's more influential than Keane. And I don't think he's a better "big game player" than (young) Gerrard. I would say he's as productive or more than Lampard. But as the total package yeah, give him a couple of further years of injury free dominance and I'll go with it.

2nd most talented Prem midfielder ever, maybe 3rd most dominant in big games, arguably most productive one ever, it's a strong shout.

When De Bruyne was injured for half the season and only contributed 2 goals and assists, City still reached 98 point, when Keane was injured in 97/98 we came 2nd after squandering a huge lead.

Keane was certainly more influential. De Bruyne might be a great player but this City team is packed with great players and a great manager, he isn't nearly as big a loss to them as Keane was for us.

You could argue Laporte is more influential given City's problem in defence, attack is hardly an issue with it without De Bruyne.

Wasn't Lampard more productive though? He had some insane seasons with 15+ goals and assists. 09/10 I think was one of those.

City have high quality depth in midfield that's why they won without him. The Laporte situation it's not influence rather than the depth at cb is made up of clowns just like the united depth at cam is made up of clowns. So when a competent player steps in for a clown they easily look even more influential.

Yeah, 8 in 8 while KDB has 28 in 30. Bruno is a small sample size really.

He won't win the Ballon d'Or, unless City win the CL. Whoever wins the CL will win it, i think Lewandowski has the best chances if Bayern win.
