People keep comparing him to Van Persie, but I disagree.
Since the end of lockdown, Greenwood's played 239 minutes, been fouled 2 times, dispossessed 2 times, had 3 unsuccessful touches, attempted 10 shots, scored 2 goals, attempted 92 passes, successfully completed 85 passes at a rate of 92.3%.
RvP average a passing accuracy in the high 70%s for most of career; Messi in the mid 80%s; Ronaldo in the low 80%s: Mbappe's at around 80%; and Haaland is at about 70%.
To put it another way, Greenwood has had the ball 111 times since lockdown. Of those occasions, he either found a teammate, won a freekick or scored a goal 89 times. That's a ridiculous level of consistency. Almost superhuman. And he's so young that he started the season as a minor!
Greenwood is unlike any other player I can think of at the moment. Not only is he a deadly goalscorer, he's also able to use the ball efficiently in almost any situation. It's like he can predict the future and pick the best option almost every time. He breaks the mould of needing to be risky in order to have end product.
Comparing him to past players often does him a disservice when it skips over some of his most impressive abilities. The sky is the limit with this kid.
