He's more than RVP. Comparing him to Robin is limiting him to 1 foot.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Greenwood's only real weakness is that he doesn't get involved enough. He can let the games pass him by a bit, but once he gets on the ball he's great (let alone the finishing which is amazing). And that one weakness is what is largely expected from a youngster coming into the side, and has already improved noticeable over the season. I'd expect it to continue improving over the next couple of seasons, and that leaves you with a scary prospect.

You would want to have a player like Greenwood in your team. Martinelli is a very talented young player but his skill set is easier to find. Goal scoring is one of the rarest skills in the game.

I imagine Greenwood is already better right now than Martinelli's ceiling personally. Martinelli always seemed like a decent young player having a purple patch.

Greenwood looks already almost fully adult player and cold blooded finisher. Vision, pace, power and conviction in finishing... complete attacking package.

Martinelli is getting there and we're about find out in upcoming years what will happen with this indisputable talent, no doubt about it.

The weird thing in that video is that he goes Arjen Robben levels of going his way to get the shot of with his left foot and then takes a pen with his right foot . I am sure footballers do it these days to create an illusion they are naturally two footed.
Our of curiosity, do you still feel that way?

As a neutral there is no contest. Greenwood is miles ahead. Martinelli is better off the dribble but in terms of finishing, off-ball movement, and intelligent use of space Greenwood is on another tier entirely.

Speaking of Dutch footballers. Watching that clip where he took a FK in practice with his right and scored (and Clayton Blackmore mentioning he could do it) and the only other person I remember hearing was capable of this was Wesley Snijder, although, I'm not sure anyone is capable of being so good with both feet that on top teams they would be used in such a fashion. Such a promising player.

Reminds me of the time Liverpool fans were trying to compare Anthony Le Tallec with Cristiano Ronaldo. Different leagues.

Greenwood seems more talented but I think you have misrepresented Martinellis strengths here.

Movement especially in the box and finishing he seems to excel at. Injuries and lack of faith from Arteta has hindered him this season.

Being so comfortable on either foot is alien to me. If I try to kick the ball with my right leg there is an 80% chance I'll fall over.

I wonder if that can be trained or if you need to "have it" in some way ? My left foot serves absolutely no purpose past a wobbly first touch.

Really? For me Martinelli seems the better of the two when he drops a bit deeper and drives at defenders whilst Greenwood does more when playing further forward. I'd also rate Greenwood as the better finisher given his comfort on both feet. It's entirely possible that I'm totally off base but from my (admittedly only semi-informed) position that's my take.

Both very good young players but it’s clear to see that Mason Greenwood is just on another level.

Has Martinelli even played since the restart?

Who has the better goals/minutes scoring record? That's how I would compare them and decide my choice.

Yeah it can definitely be trained. I used to be very one footed but it took me about a year to get very comfortable with my right foot. I still have problems with long ball and shot accuracy but I can control it and pass it short very competently. My friend also was left footed but then he trained his right so hard he actually because better with his right but he was only 9 or 10 when that happened.

Greenwood:

PL - 115
Europa - 92

Martinelli:

PL - 219
Europa - 141
League Cup - 45

Thought I'd throw the League Cup in for Martinelli because that's his most prolific competition. Also using a GPM to decide who's better is a tragic way of judging a player.

Greenwood only lacking skill are his headers, besides that he's the real deal. Martinelli is not a bad player but I dont think theyre on the same brackett.

Tbh he is tracking a bit better than Sancho.

I think he is having a better season that Rooney did at the same age in 2003-04 in terms of goalscoring and slightly worse in terms of overall impact.

Would really like to see goals per 90 and assists per 90 for all the young phenom strikers over the past 2 decades, in the season where their starting age was 17.

He might have the best record of anyone in the top 5 leagues. Any stat anoraks who can prove otherwise?

The only striker I know for sure with a better record at the same age (season started at age 17) was Owen.

There's a mentality difference as well. Greenwood scores equalising goals and doesn't celebrate, grabs the ball. Martinelli does it and celebrates like he's won a trophy.
This might be a bit harsh? Martinelli plays for Arsenal ffs, what choice does he have.

He’s a truly generational talent. He will be better than Rashford, Martial and Sancho if he comes.

As a defender which way do you lead him? On those clips it’s ridiculous how comfortable he is with both feet.

Greenwood is much closer to the finished article while Martinelli is still developing. At the moment there's no comparison, Greenwood is much better. Martinelli can't even get into the Arsenal team.
