I'd put Fred in for Matic...give the guy a full game rest.

Other than that keep it the same.,,I predict a 7-0 win tomorrow

A draw wouldn't be the end of the world. Southampton are a decent side and have one of the leagues in form strikers. A draw is still a point gained on Leicester and Chelsea
A draw would be a horrific result.

3 points is the only thing that suffices.

We started pretty slow against Villa, and I’m guessing that’s something Ole will deal with. If we manage to play reasonably well we’ll win. I feel confident. 4-1 I think.

We should really be putting these in a spliff & smoking them. Put them to bed by half time & give our top players some rest.

Results could not have gone better for us on the weekend.
Hopefully we don't stuff it up.

Had a quick look at the Saints forum and they seem pretty confident. They reckon if they avoid giving away a penalty they can walk away with 3 points, and we are not used to teams who press us high up the pitch and they can cause us problems.

I dont fecking like it when the opposition is confident. Makes me nervous

I feel this game is a tipping point, will decide so much. In regards of how the week goes. The confidence will see us through the remaining season. I'm so nervous, hope we tip the right direction. Win tomorrow when it really counts will remove any false dawns talk. No excuses boys, let's dominate them and get the win. We are better than Chelsea and Leicester, see it though and keep the momentum.

Imagine the state of this place of we don't win after the Leicester result today
There'll be many people losing their shit and trashing the team, even though we still have CL qualification in our own hands. That being said I will be questioning our collective mental toughness as this horseshit of finding ways to blow games that would take us into the CL spots needs to end. We're looking much better in every possible way since we returned, but we need to throw this monkey off our backs.

Some many times before we’ve had chances to take advantage of feck ups .we’ve always either lost or drew. It’s time to capitalize and Ole to show us we’ve improved .

Every team we've played since the restart has tried pressing us high up the pitch, especially early on in games. Just look what happens every time we have a goal kick.

I don't think it'll be an easy game at all as they're a well drilled side right now, but if we actually turn up, unlike that first 30 or so minutes against Villa, then only wayward finishing or stinking bad luck will see us drop points.

I'm not sure if you've watched Southampton over the last couple of weeks but if we're not at it, we'll get a kick up the arse.
but we watched United. We will steamroll them by 4 or 5 goals tomorrow

After the results this weekend, that banana skin is starting to look awfully slippery.

Just need to keep doing what we've been doing.

At least, even if we don't win, it won't be a complete disaster.
Not a disaster, but so deflating.

If we drop points tomorrow, I don't expect us to not drop further points.

Fortunately, I think we've got some great characters/mentalities in the first XI right now. They seem like they're on a mission.

I love it when the other fans are confident. Love it. There was a time when they could be, now's not that time. It's false bravado.

Win tomorrow and I think we are in the Champions League next season so it's a pretty big game for the short term future for the club

Could be the difference between signing Sancho or not but I think we'll do it pretty handy. I know they beat City but jesus City on another day could have scored 5 against them so we'll get our chances and confident we have what it takes

Can’t see is not smashing them. 3 or 4 nil. They’ve nothing to play for and aren’t great to start with. Easy as they come.

Southampton will ask questions of our defence’s ability to play out from the back, I hope we’re not afraid to keep it simple if we have to because we’ve had a few scares when passing it out lately.

Besides that, I don’t actually rate Southampton’s defence/keeper very highly, I think there’s definitely goals there for us. With sharpshooters such as Bruno, Greenwood, Tony, Rashford and Pogba in the team we have a lot of firepower. If we get space in and around the box we’re so dangerous.

Ings will be a threat and we must be careful to avoid a slow start, we could’ve been badly punished for it against Villa and Bournemouth if they weren’t so poor once we recovered. Southampton won’t be nearly as easy to overcome if they take an early lead, they rode their luck a bit against City but it still shows what they’re capable of.

This won’t be an easy game by any means, but it’s the type of game we have to win if we want to be playing Champions League football next season. I’m nervous but I can’t wait to see us play again!

We are not used to play City? Sheffield United? Interesting... we will have to be proactive then, since some have a short memory of who we are as a team!

We have to score first. Can’t have a repeat of what happened with Bournemouth. So’ton are a far better side for us to get away with it this time.

Southampton will press us high. They did it to good effect in their last game, we don't like that, so we need to be sharp from the get go, none of this taking 20 minutes to wake up.

This is a chance to go 3rd, we need to seize it. I hope Bruno fires the lads up, I get the feeling he plays an important role in that.

One thing is for sure, since the restart, we've been a flat track bully against these teams.

Expecting more of the same. No errors, Ole! No errors!

We have a much better team, and if we impose our game on them which I expect, I see us winning comfortably.

It's going to be a thriller. We go up with 1-0 Rashford. All of a sudden it's 1-2, Ings and JWP scores. We get 2-2 right before half time with Greenwood. Bruno 3-2. Martial 4-2 towards the end. Believe that.

Or a boring 0-0. I'm a bit worried about Matic and Pogba against these guys, they never seemed to thrive with Southampton midfielders harassing them, hopefully they'll prove me wrong.

Imo this match may not only give us the top 3 but would tell a lot about our current team. Southampton basically has nothing to win nor to lose here. Of course it's us who want it much more.

Will we thrive through the pressure or turn shit because of that ? The performance (not the result) of this match will tell a lot about our current team and what they would become.

You go into those games with a different mindset though, because you know they're better (in City's case at least). Its quite easy to be surprised and unsettled by teams that are weaker and press relentlessly.

Long story short, we just need to be on it. If we're at our best I'm confident we'll beat them, but if we're complacent, Southampton are more likely to punish us than the rest of the teams we've played recently.

I've never been convinced by Fred as a DM. He's too tiny and weak to protect the ball properly. Fred and Pogba in midfield together seems like a bad idea. If Ole does rest Matic, I prefer he start McTominay, who's far from perfect but still less likely to get bullied off of the ball.

Cannot start with McT or Fred. Need Matic at the beginning.

Both McT and Fred are very good in breaking the attack but lack skill to move the ball through high press area. They might get there by learning from Matic. But not now.
