Soul destroying result. Don't think the late goal would have happened if Williams didn't go off

This team has been in the position of having qualification in their hands before in recent years and bottled it. A few nerves again perhaps though to be honest we were fine until we had to go to ten.

Understat have us 1.5 vs 1.81 xG for that match, which instinctively feels wrong, given the misses for Martial twice and Rashford. Felt like we should have been up by a couple of goals headed into stoppage time.

Not particularly disappointed with he performance. Never thought we were going to win every game to end the season, but we have a real tough week now to bounce back in. With Palace on Thursday and Chelsea on Sunday. We’ll be favourites for both, I guess, but it’s going to be a real hard week and one that could well define our season.

Can't say we deserved more from the game to be honest. We were sloppy at times against Bournemouth, a little bit too against Villa and now against a much better side we got stung.

I think the pressure maybe got to us here - the CAS decision and yet again having a chance to capitalise at such an important time of the season.

Such a shame. Hope Williams will be OK.

Result aside, just analyse that game from start to finish and you can see what our issues are. We never controlled the game because we couldn't control the ball. Our passing was horrific at times, blame tiredness all you like but we are fundamentally not a good passing side esp when teams press.

Its for this reason that I don't believe Ole can elevate us to the next level, with the players at his disposal we shouldn't be this far behind in the basics of coaching.

They're meh. They are not on the second half of the player for nothing.
They're also not 4th in the away league table for nothing.

They have a better away record then us. They also literally just beat City.

Apart from anything else though, there's no way Soton should have had 11 men on the pitch after the first half.

That ref was absolutely spineless and is better suited refereeing in the under-5s, not the men's game.

They were knackered I think... And Southampton are a good side.
How are Southampton not knackered? They've ran more than us since the restart and have shitter players. Ole said he doesn't accept being outworked, well we werent playing the same sport today, Southampton completely dominated the physical aspect.

If we had taken our chances we would have won.

Still though Ole should not have taken off Bruno.
If we'd try to carry on playing our football rather than completely parking the bus we'd have won. We were shitting it about the chance to go 3rd. We're spineless.

Why did we stop attacking from the 60th minute? We invited unnecessary pressure and paid the price.

It feels like a loss. Chelsea and Leicester will be buzzing.

Stop it, twas an unlucky bounce of the ball

Bruno looked like he was running on fumes. Explains why we stood off them in the second half... Credit to Southampton, they played really well. Rashford should have made it 3-1

Think we will still make top 4.
While Pogba wasn't at the top of his game, it was still weird to see him hauled off before Fernandes who was simply terrible.

Embarrassingperformance, not a single sub by Ole had a positive impact on the game. We played scared for most of the 2nd half, could see the equalizer coming from a mile away.

A number of off days from key players tonight. Let's hope Ole hasn't overworked them, we never rotate recently. We also seemed to shrink back into ourselves in the second half, they were the better team which should not have happened.

We still have a good chance but we definitely missed a trick tonight.

Really didn’t like our subs, though I understand why Ole did them given the quick turnaround. Very thin squad and it showed tonight. Need some quality depth this summer.

Top 4 still in our hands. Let’s win the next 3.

Unlucky today, imo.

Pogba and Bruno poorer than usual. Had to finish the game with 10 men. Missed several huge chances.

Still undefeated over 18 games, but we need better finishing.

Southampton deserved it. We are absolutely knackered and it seems to have effected Bruno and Pogba the most, they were completely out of sorts.
We need squad depth. Anyone who says there’s no room for Sancho and Grealish is deluded.

Sitting there with 5 minutes to go thinking 'ugly win but ill take it'. As it turns out a hugely disappointing draw instead.

We looked off from the start. Pogba does what Pogba does. Brilliant player, but the biggest ammunition for his doubters has always been his complacency in possession. Soton had 3 very good opportunities from those mistakes, but it is what it is. His good outweighs the bad.

Greenwood and Fernandes were both fairly poor. The team looked a little leggy and perhaps that is to be expected, and I'm thinking what great character we showed overturning an early deficit so easily, but we just didn't kick on from there.

Soton are a difficult team to play against. They press well, they know when to foul, they don't give a lot away.

We move on. I think we now need to sacrifice the cup to keep these players fresh.

Lindelof was our best player tonight and it wasn’t even close. Martial missed a sitter and messed up another great chance all he had to was lay it off to Greenwood and it’s 3-1 but the selfish git decided it be better to hit it into row Z
He wasn't. It's his fault we lost. Basic defending. You can't let a man get goal side on you on a corner.

Oles done well since lockdown...
But he's been the second coming of David Moyes in this game.

Takes off our ability to play the ball up the field in Bruno and Pogba to get 11 men behind the ball. Cost us the game through negativity. Which certainly isn't the "United way" bollocks he spits.

The first time in months that we have something to play for and we bottle it. Absolute joke.
There is really not enough quality in united backline to resist high press. Simple as that.

That's one way of saying they kicked the shit out of us and inexplicably got away with it, yes.

One of those things, it happens. That's why it's so hard to keep up long winning runs. It's annoying, but it's not the end of the world IMO. Leicester play Sheffield Utd and Spurs, so they'll drop more points there. Just don't think we can clinch it before the final day now (unless they drop in both).

Very disappointing not to hold out for the win. 96th minute and defend that poorly from a corner is so frustrating.

The 2nd half performance from United simply wasn't good enough. Worrying a lot of the legs looked heavy tonight and losing Shaw, Williams to injury is concerning for the next match.

One plus point 18 games unbeaten for the first time since 2013

Was coming. Pogba and Fernandes have played a lot recently and it showed. Think they've started 5 games in two and half weeks, more for Fernandes. Still our game manangement in that second half as terrible.

Yet again we’ve fecking bottled it when it matters and failed at the chance to go into the top 4. Unlucky to go down to 10 towards the end but we were shite the whole 2nd half, outplayed and retreated deeper and deeper as the half went on. Had to score a 3rd to settle it down, the question marks remains over this teams mentality, when the pressures on and it’s time to deliver they come up short. Hopefully this is the kick up the arse needed to get us over the line.

Give over that was very tough game and we were so unfortunate to draw
We really weren't unfortunate to draw, we got outplayed at our own place.

It was unlucky to lose two left-backs, sure, but we played shite regardless of that.

They're 12th. Can't be that great.

I think heads were gone. It's what, the sixth or seventh time we drop points right after Chelsea do so as well? It cannot be dismissed as a coincidence anymore. We're basically Arsenal: can play pretty stuff when under no pressure.
They're the 4th best away side in the league.
