Has it? They checked out after clinching the title, but until then they were arguably the most dominating side in a single season.
I guess one could come to such conclusion by deliberately not watching the games, but only to the points column at the end of the week.

They probably won't but I don't think it means much. Same as how the Invincible Arsenal are not the best team ever in EPL (or close by).

Until Liverpool clinched the title, they were easily the most dominant force I have ever seen in EPL, and if they had a half-decent challenger they would have easily reached 100+ points. The only silver lining is that they fecked up hard in Europe (despite being quite better than Atletico), so I think that United 99 and United 08 are the best teams in the history of EPL.
City were chased by Jose...Funny enough City this year can at maximum end up on 81 points just like us that year.

They didnt get 100 points cos they were being pushed.

Yeah I like him. He’s doing pretty well IMO.

Looked a bit shaky after the Brighton game but he’s steadied the ship pretty well since then with good wins against Sheffield Utd, Wolves and also tonight.
Wolves and Sheffield were in shocking form when Arsenal played them. As were Spurs. Who beat them.

And Liverpool are already on the beach, hence they drew with Burnley in their last match and gifted Arsenal two goals tonight.

You can only play what’s in front of you and Arsenal away from home have been shocking for a good while. They were two important wins.

Liverpool have won already granted but don’t try and tell me they didn’t try and beat Arsenal. They’re just not quite as good as they have been. They’re still amongst a few teams to take points off them this year.

Arteta’s switch to the 3-4-3 has been very good for them.

Arsenal were rubbish tonight. I wouldn’t read anything into that result.

Even disregarding the tonight, Arteta has done fairly well since the restart. Before lockdown they had a decent chance of missing out on Europe altogether and have turned it around. Fair play to him.

They'd won all 3 of their league games since the restart without conceding a single goal.

You can say we were shit tonight without resorting to ridiculous hyperbole.

Both haven't lost at home aside from against Arsenal too.

Nah, I disagree. They’ve won games they should expect to win. Then lost the lowest quality north London derby I’ve seen in years, as well as losing against a piss poor Brighton team.

Tonight was a freak result. 30% possession and 3 shots to 23. Not exactly laying down a marker.

Overall their results since the restart have been about par for where they are going to finish in the league, until tonight’s aberration. They’ve not been very impressive at all.

I specifically said they have done well since the Brighton game where they looked pretty poor. Going away to Sheffield United and Wolves and the other wins they've picked up has been fairly good form. Arteta deserves credit for steadying the ship after a slow start.

Yep.

It's laughable to suggest this Arsenal team was expected to win those games. I can guarantee if we check the gameweek threads on here before each game, the vast majority of posters would have had us down as second favourites.

Wolves beat the mighty Aston Villa and Bournemouth by a single goal in their last two games before playing Arsenal. Since playing Arsenal they’ve won one in three. Wolves have not been in good form since the restart.

Not really. Liverpool have been on the beach since the restart, and City even longer than that. Their league form this season has been a combination of weirdness and lack of motivation once it became clear they weren't catching liverpool

Meanwhile they won the league cup, and are favourites to both FA cup and CL

They regressed from last season, sure, but it's like they want from 10/10 to 9/10. They're still one of the best sides ever
Liverpools run wasn't great before the lockdown either. Knocked out of the Champions league by A Madrid and Chelsea in the FA Cup and hammered by Watford in the league.

I don't fancy City to even reach the CL final nevermind winning it. If United reach the FA Cup (doubtful as changes will have to be made Sunday) I'd expect Ole to get one over Pep again.

This is Wolves we're talking about though, not City or Liverpool. Winning 3 games on the bounce, regardless of the opposition, without conceding a single goal is not "shocking form". Even if two of those wins were only by one goal.

They beat two sides fighting for their lives to stay in the league.

However many goals they win by it's a results business at the end of the day and they are getting results. Wolves have never been the most free-flowing side, it's a bit strange to suggest that winning games with clean sheets aren't good because they don't win 3-0 every week.

Up until tonight you had 10 points from 7 games after the restart. That’s a 54 point season. I was probably being generous calling the results “par”.

You're arguing against something I never said. I'm not pretending our results since the restart have been amazing, or even good.

The initial point though which I made which you just seem to be ignoring is that I said specifically since they lost against Brighton I've seen a noticeable improvement in their play after an awful start. Coinciding with Arteta switching to the 3-4-3.

10 points in 5 games (only two teams have a better record) and into the FA Cup semi-final.

You also have to look at a few things:

1. They have basically frozen out one of their best/most talented players
2. Look at their fecking horrific defence

I wouldn't disagree with that. The media has over hyped us as much as our own fans have.

Our fans should simply enjoy it instead of wanting to be held in some higher regard.
I've never met a Liverpool fan in life or online who talks as much sense as you.

And that's not just because you've agreed with my post here.

Title winning teams this Liverpool side are better than IMO

Blackburn. Leicester. Chelsea 2010 and 2017, United 2011 and 2013

The idea they are the greatest PL side of all time is hilarious.
Take out 2010, swap it with 2015 and then I'd completely agree.

This should be a point for Sheffield. Very weak side from Leicester. They might still play well since the first team has been pretty crap recently anyway.

Huge ask for Wes Morgan. Hasn't started a game since December 28th 2019 and the only substitute appearances he's made since then total a measly 15 minutes combined. What's more is that they were all before lockdown as well.

Come on you red and white wizards, you can have Henderson another season if you do us another favour.

We're absolutely decimated by injuries. Ricardo, Chilwell, Maddison, Albrighton, and Fuchs, and with Soyuncu out on a red. Our backline is an absolute car crash - we're playing 2 oil tankers in Wes and Bennett, and a 19 year old LB who I don't think even has a senior appearance.

I said it before, but we won't pick up another point this season. Not helped by the fact that Rodgers seems to hate our most inform player (Nacho).

I've stuck a good amount on a Sheffield win - 3/1 odds!
