The thought of needing points against West Ham in the season run-in makes me very nervous. They seem to regularly feck us up.
That’s why a West Ham win vs Watford tomorrow would be very good news for us. They’d be all but safe by the time we played.

If we had won the Southampton game, we had needed just a win against the hammers to confirm UCL place assuming Leceister loose to spurs.
This whole permutations better be the last time.

I just hope the next time I do these kind of Mathematics it will be for the title race.

Hate them. Doesn't matter if they qualified for CL with 10 games to spare, these feckers will raise their game against us.

I'm just hoping Antonio's all out of goals now after his Hattrick.

Also having fecking flashbacks to that boleyn ground loss that kicked us out the CL spots :( :nervous:

Man Utd have known the equation for awhile now: Win every league game left and we're in. Its that simple.

Chelsea and Leicester threw down the gauntlet to us and we showed the bottle to respond. If West Ham beat Watford tomorrow that's the league done for them, unless Bournemouth and Aston Villa can win their last two games and magically improve their goal difference. That's good news for us.

Meanwhile Chelsea have Liverpool, who at the very least probably won't want to lose twice on the bounce, and Wolves. Whilst Leicester have to go to Spurs, who suddenly look decent again and then entertain us.

There's still a chance we could go into the final day of the season above both Leicester and Chelsea. I'm optimistic.

Just need to win our next 2. They won’t be easy but if you asked at the start of the season if we’d have taken beating West Ham at home and an injury depleted Leicester away to get into the top 4, I think we’d all have taken it?

I'd much much rather have West Ham at home next game than Spurs or Liverpool away.
For sure but won't be an easy game for us if they still needs pts. We really need them to beat Watford tomorrow as that willall but seal survival for them.

However in saying that Southampton n Palace had nothing to play for and they both great great. It's hard to judge who is best to play and who isn't. Liverpool have been mediocre at best since lockdown.

I think Chelsea would be most worried at this point they need to beat Liverpool and Wolverhampton on the bounce that's some huge ask,no way they wouldnt be dropping points, their only consolation is their rivals play each other

Liverpool have their trophy ceremony after the Chelsea game. Surely they wouldn't want to lose just before that. So that at least gives something extra to play for.

Beat West Ham and we surely must be in top 4 going into the last game. We'd be very unlucky to have both Chelsea win at Anfield and Leicester win at Spurs in the same gameweek.

You just know they will though

Assuming West Ham like Moyes, they would be highly motivated to win, even if they escape relegation

So im on my couch calculating results and what we need to qualify. If we and leicester both win our next game and chelsea lose against liverpool, we and leicester would only need to draw to both qualify. We could have a gentleman's agreement with Leicester to send Chelsea straight to bethlehem next year.

Wouldn't that be hilarious???

If United and Leicester both win their next league game and Chelsea lose. Genuinely, United and Leicester would both take a draw in the last game wouldn’t they?!
This is correct. We could have a gentlemans agreement with them. yes I have no shame. Top 4 is all i care about.

Possible scenario here

United beat West Ham
Leicester beat Spurs
Chelsea draw against Liverpool

3.Leicester 65
4. United 65
5. Chelsea 64

This would be annoying because we'd still go into the last game needing to win because a draw isn't enough to stop Chelsea overtaking us if they win their last game against Wolves, and we'd likely be behind Leicester on goal difference. We may get lucky in this scenario if Wolves got a result against Chelsea, but we couldn't go into the final game relying on that.

All these ifs and buts all these opinions.

I will help you the latest odds to qualify for top 4, all the above equate to this

Us 76%
Chelsea 76%
Leicester 48%

I'm confused with the scenario that United and Leceister will play a boring draw if they win their next game and Chelsea loses against Liverpool. Wouldn't it be rather shameless for both teams? Also whats stopping Leceister from deciding to switch up and score us

Anything anti-Dipper
At this point Chelsea are surely the outsiders. They have to go play the Dipper's in Dipperfield before they lift their Covid title, defending a 57 game unbeaten run and having lost the last game. On top of that they have conceded 49 goals this season, only 4 less then bloody Brighton. Absolute best result Chelsea are getting is 1 point and I reckon it will be more likely to 3-0/4-1 Dippers. After that they then have Wolves who are a very well drilled side who will be well rested. Just look at what Sheff Utd did to Chelsea. Seriously I cannot see them getting anything out of that game as Nuno will have them running in rings.

On the same round Chelsea play the Dipper's Leicester are playing Spurs who blow hot and cold and Utd play WHU who have been dire all season as their last few good results have been against Norwich and Chelsea's weak arse defence. I cannot predict the Leicester score but Utd will roll WHU over by at least two goals.

For me, going into the last round of games it will be:

Utd - 65
Leicester - 63
Chelsea - 63

That will mean Utd will qualify even if they lose to Leicester as Chelsea will lose to Wolves. At the very worst Chelsea may get a point somewhere along the line, which will still mean Utd are through.

I am quietly confident we win one of pool or Wolves. And if Spurs win Sunday, thats job done for us provided we get 3 pts somewhere. I mean if you also beat leicester, we could qualify by losing both. Everyone seems to be missing that point.

At this point Leicester are the outsiders

We shouldn’t be wasting our energies on ifs and buts.

It’s in our own hands. We have to win our last 2 games and do everything in our power to enable that, including resting our first team for the FA cup semi final.

That’s it. That should be our sole intention and plan.

Although I'm confident we'll get there, I'd also say we're still outsiders for top four simply because right now you have more points than us and Leicester have a better goal difference.

People can debate the hypothetical scenarios of games still to be played as long as they want, but I don't think you'll find any managers in the premier league who would choose to swap points/league positions for a couple of supposedly easier fixtures.

This is a league where anyone can beat anyone on their day, and every team has pulled out a world class performance at some point this season. I have no idea how some of you are so confident making predictions! Glad I'm not a betting man!

Get through the West Ham game first, and see where we are then.

A shame Wolves drew the other day, would be much better if they come into the final day with the slimmest chance of top 4 (both Chelsea and Leicester need to lose their next match for that to be possible though). Still, they have Europa to play for.

A very possible scenario would be we beat Westham, both Leicester and Chelsea lose.

Everything still to play for on the final day and if Leicester beat us , they will get top 4. (Excluding the GD scenarios)

The thought of needing to beat West Ham reminds me of Van Gaal's last season. When we lost the last ever game at Upton Park and fecked it up

Hopefully West Ham win tomorrow night against Watford and it’ll dampen their zest for our fixture next week. We can’t afford for those feckers to bumrush us into defeat all because they still need a win to survive.

Get that boxed ticked off tomorrow night, Moyeseh, and all is forgiven.
