And 2003The best thing Leeds have ever done was beat Arsenal in 99 to help us win the league.
Always had a soft spot for Hasslebaink because of that
Let's just hope this current crop of young players know what it means to play Leeds!I don't like Leeds much but I'm pleased they're back in the Premier League, brings back a bit of a rivalry for us

We are their main rivals. They are very much like Bolton. One of those strange clubs that hate us despite the fact that we don't share a City & have never really had a rivalry.I'm guessing we'll be in for some tough games against a newly promoted side which isn't ideal.
They beat them in 2003 as well. Very late in the season. Basically handed us the title. The best thing Leeds have ever done was beat Arsenal in 99 to help us win the league.

& the greatest gift of them all was handing us ERIC THE KING CANTONA for pittance. They beat them in 2003 as well. Very late in the season. Basically handed us the title.
Of course we are their main rivals. But from a purely practical purpose, they will serve to give us some tonight fixtures against one of the newly promoted sides. We are their main rivals. I think because they were always there in the top during late 60s and 70s and then in the 90s -they spent the 80s mostly in the 2nd Division. Unlike Blackburn, they remained a top side for a whole decade after winning the league in the 90s till 2002. I have to look for it, but i recall there was a stat that until they were relegated they had one of the highest percentages of win ratio in the 1st Division and the PL.One thing that I am hoping somebody here can elucidate: why are Leeds such a big club in the eyes of the media and footballing world? People talk about their history, but they are no where near other teams in terms of honours. Pretty sure Sunderland and Newcastle both have more cups than them in their history. Both them and Huddersfield have three domestic league trophies each. So what is all the history stuff about? Don Revvie only won one title didn’t he? The way that era is talked about, you would think that Leeds had dominated the 70s like Liverpool in the 80s and United In the 90s.
That would be nice. Two great clubsInteresting to have them back. Now just need Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday back in the Prem...
Nó doubting that. I remember when Matt Busby died. There was a minutes silence to be observed at all games that week. The PL became too nice. I hope Leeds spices things up a bit.
Definitely this.I absolutely despise Leeds to be honest, the only Leeds fans I've encountered have been pretty scummy. I don't see it as a rivalry at all, like they do, I just think they're a terrible group of people.
When I was at Uni down in Brighton I worked as a steward to make a bit of extra money. The stadium was new at the time, and both Leeds and Brighton were in the championship. They were by far the worst group of fans we hosted, even more so than Palace and Millwall, they'd absolutely destroy the away end and cause no end of grief for the staff.
They deserved their years in the wilderness for being an absolutely classless club, followed by an army of shit house cnuts. And, in my opinion, the PL is worse off having them back.
Even to this day what Clough did at forest is incredible. Will be nice to see them back one day. That would be nice. Two great clubs
Liverpool definitely.Question for older fans or whoever wants to answer it. Which rivalry was bigger, Liverpool or Leeds? And how did Leeds rivalry started anyway?
