It ll be interesting to see how he progresses vs how Hannibal Mejbri progresses over the next few years. Not really bothered losing Jude. We have enough talent in our academy. We just to nurture them the right way and make sure they hit their potential.
Good point, Hannibal and Garner should be getting the potential Jude minutes.

Dortmund's social is teasing the announcement. Either that or the admin is winding up the account's followers.
I think your inner muppet is taking charge here. Their accounts post these random stadium pics every couple of days.

I’m not angry, I’m disappointed.

Fair play backing himself to play abroad although if he’s as good as touted the drop off after Bruno/Pogba leaves a gap for a player to provide an alternative.

Will be watching Dortmund games more closely going forward.
he is a coward, took an easy route as there won’t be any pressure over there compared to playing for UTD

Still a bit weird using the title of a The Beatles hit, but just seen they used the same words last year.
I wouldn't rule out entirely that the Twitter admin is trying to be clever, but as you've proven with that second tweet it's just a generic post on the surface. What I'm more curious about is how he has been allowed to play for Birmingham after flying to Germany to do his medical, contract and probably some pictures (shaking hands) / videos for the announcement.

If you mean from a lack of training perspective etc, I agree. If you mean from a he's now a Dortmund player and they wouldn't want him injured point of view, I'd say Birmingham said to Dortmund that they need him for the last two games as they're in a relegation battle and Dortmund were okay with that.

Birmingham keeping him until their season concludes is to be expected. In terms of training he might have had a free afternoon. I was thinking about Corona measures/player quarantine.

We scrapped that for 50 countries including Germany on the 10th July, so he's fine to play.
But the league's concept must have some rule against players just doing whatever they want in their spare time and cross country travel has to be fairly high on that list?!

Ridiculous comment. He’s a level headed kid who’s made the best decision for himself. United is not the move that will give him games next season. He’s played 37 games this season, why would he want to drop back to a sporadic bit part player? You should wish the kid well in his development, and keep an eye on him for his next move. He’s not going to be having his testimonial at Dortmund is he?

Totally. Moving to a new country, probably can’t speak the language, leaving the only place he’s known..and at only 17. What a pussy

It’s a shame he’s not chosen us, hopefully he does next time and hopefully this is the last time Dortmund beat us to a signing. He’s made a good decision, my bias leads me to believe that he’d be better off choosing us but who knows. Let’s not forget we have some exciting prospects coming through in his position.

That's one way to look at it.
Alternatively he is being smart, trying to develop away from the brighter lights/pressure of UTD. And there is definitely bravery in going out of your comfort zone from a cultural/country point of view.

Either way good luck to him. Hope he makes it and maybe comes to play for us in the future. Hopefully alongside Garner and Mejbri. You never know.

Lets be honest... if Bruno or Pogba are staying long term there’s no chance he’s getting a run in the team especially based on how we look a much better team with them in it, working well with each other... and then you’ve got Mejbri and Garner in the academy knocking on the door of the first team.

It makes sense for him to move to a B-level club, playing CL football where he can get regular games with minimal pressure to win trophies, raise his value before being moved on to Bayern or another club for mega bucks. BvB is the perfect talent farm. Probably worth signing up with fatboy Raiola too.

Thank feck for that, was more bored hearing about this kid than the Sancho transfer.

Any player that turns down United deserves zero fecks given and that's what he's getting from me.

Will flop if he develops as a CM. Dortmund produce good forwards, wingers and attacking midfielders- centre midfielders have not been anything to shout home about.

Don't Birmingham have another game left? Weird not to announce it right away, but then not wait two days for his season to finish.

A lot of noise for a 17 year old, constant media "updates" for months, reports of SAF getting brought in, pictures at training grounds and now a welcoming song from most of the squad. He's being treated like royalty, when in fact he's still 'just' a decent Championship player at the moment. I hope he can deal well with all this attention and pressure.

He's barely 17 and moving to a foreign country in an attempt to break in a Champions League team, if that's cowardly god only knows what calling him out on an internet forum is

Hope he does well. I like that English players now have the confidence to move abroad. Fair play to him.

I can't help but feel that the negotiations for this were intertwined in the Sancho negotiations..

Quotes

Bellingham: "I can’t thank Birmingham City enough for what they have done for me – not just this season, but since the age of 7. Of course, I wish everyone associated with the club nothing but the best. Once a blue, always a blue. However, I’m incredibly excited to have joined one of the biggest clubs in Europe. The direction they are heading in and how much they help young players improve made it an easy decision for me personally and my family. I can’t wait to perform in front of over 80,000 fans when they are back inside one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world – hopefully as soon as possible!"
Zorc (Dortmund sporting director): "Jude Bellingham has decided with absolute confidence to pursue his career at Borussia Dortmund. The primary motivation behind his decision were the prospects on the pitch we were able to offer him. He has enormous potential, which we will continue to develop together with him over the coming years. He already boasts astonishing quality with and without the ball, and has a strong mentality to boot. Jude will immediately strengthen our first team squad, but we will certainly give him all the time he needs to adapt to the higher level of play."
Dong Ren (Birmingham City CEO): "Jude is an outstanding young player who has the ability, focus and desire to go to the very top. He is also a mature, well-rounded and intelligent young man who acts with the greatest of professionalism both on and off the pitch. It has been a pleasure to watch Jude develop into the player he is today and he will go down in the history of this Club.

"We have always understood that such a talent would be coveted by some of the world's biggest sides and I wish to thank Jude and his family for the way in which they have handled this situation.

“I also wish to personally thank the staff at the Club, and particularly those within our Academy, who have worked alongside Jude over the last eight years. A lot of effort, time and love goes in to developing a player like Jude and it is important to acknowledge the role that each and every individual has played in supporting the player we see in front of us today.

"We are naturally sorry to see one of our own leave but we have no doubt this is just the start of what will be an outstanding career. We wish Jude every success for the future and will continue to support him every step of the way."

I hope he flops.

If people think he won’t get game time at United, well he is barely going to play next season for Dortmund either. They aren’t beating Bayern to the title by giving a 16 year old plenty of game time. If they do then they might as well gift Bayern the title.

Doesn't make sense. People said the same for Haaland. They just have a bigger pull for youth players, indpependent of nationality.

Lots of bitterness on here. I wish him well and am looking forward to monitoring his development - those hoping he flops will probably be at the head of the queue amongst those clamouring for him in 2 years.

Dortmund are a stepping stone club and they're happy running their business model that way.

They get some class youngsters and sell them on for a profit. Not a shabby way of doing business if you aren't prideful.

I don't think United fans would be happy with that.
