We know how this works...the media will include every penny to make the transfer fee astronomical, his wages, bonuses and anything else they can find will be included in the £200million!!!!! transfer back page stories! Souness and Co. will need something to moan about all season.

Honestly, I know his dads best mate. But he’s useless for information, last we spoke he told me Sancho is a Chelsea fan and he’d love to be in London. Also said Ed absolutely loves him and wants him and offered him a box anytime if Sancho signs.

I’ll see you poor feckers in the stand from my nice warm lofty box.

Fair enough.... but we do need a DM, CB, ST & another quality CM to fill in for Pogba and Bruno.
Totally agree with you but certainly not going to sign all that in one window, my prediction is Sancho, CM/AM & CB this summer and DM will be the top priority next summer

Fabrizio you constant WINKER!!

For what it's worth, this is one of the few high profile transfers I don't see dragging out for too long. I think it'll be wrapped up in a week or so.

I’d say a couple weeks. Fabrizio constantly winking is him telling us it’s happening.

VVD came in because he was the final piece of the jigsaw and you can see the results with the CL & PL trophies. However, Sancho coming in does not solve our issues at DM, CB, CM & ST. Sancho would need bedding time since he's not played in the league. The pace and the kind of defense he'd be up against is not comparable to the Bundesliga. Also, 10+ years? If we haven't won anything in 2 years (major trophies wise), he won't stick around if Barca or Madrid come calling.
They signed Fabinho and Alisson in the next window for huge money.

People treat Bundesliga like it's some kind of farmers league still. Sure PL is a better and tougher league but the difference is not so stark that Sancho will have a lot of trouble bedding in...

When does the transfer window end? Has there been any word from Sancho or his agent? Seems to be all noise but I don't see or hear anything concrete from them.

That's because Mhiki was an AM. We tried shoehorning players into positions like a square peg in a round hole. Getting Sancho is not going to win us the title. Sancho is not the only world class RW out there.
No 1 player is going to win us the title. You need to get that out of your head. Sign Koulibaly at CB, and we don't win the title with our depth in attack. I'm looking towards the 2021/22 season personally.
Time and time again we keep overpaying for players.... We spent 80m on Maguire.... which was an absolute joke. Sancho hasn't won anything to be classified as a 90m player and before you compare VVD (Southampton) to Sancho (Dortmund). Which team has a better chance of winning titles?
Sancho doesn't need to win anything to be classified as a 90m player. He's classified as a 90m player because he's just had his age 18 and 19 seasons with ridiculous end product, with great dribbling stats, and is ridiculously skilled. He was an elite prospect prior to going to Dortmund, which is the whole reason why Dortmund bought him in the first place. He's not some unheard of player who Dortmund turned to gold. They gave him playing time, which is what he wanted at City, but didn't get promised. Dortmund should get credit for that, but to take all of the credit would be strange considering how highly thought of he was prior to his move.

To put this into perspective, when was the last time we seen an 18 and 19 year old put up his end product, with his dribbling ability, and with his technical skill in any of the top 5 leagues? In the Championship? In Eredivisie? So if I lower the standard in league, meaning that I include more than just the top 5 leagues and cast a wider less exclusive net, you still struggle to find that sort of profile in a player. This highlights why he's worth as much as he's worth.

Why do we need word from sancho? Did we hear from Maguire, Bruno or AWB before we signed them? You’re hardly expecting him to Skype ole fully kitted out in a Manchester United kit.

Someone should make a note of all the people poopooing this deal, they don't deserve to enjoy a single second of Sancho magic.
No doubt they'll be the same ones who climb on his back as soon as he has a poor performance.

Bet he flops here. We haven't had nice things for a long time.
Without being sarcastic I actually think a reality check is nice once in a while. So I like it on these forums

Jokes aside he would be very good, I just dont hope our fanbase will be fickle with him. It could take some months before he gets in proper consistent performances.

I'm just glad he can share the burden with Greenwood, because if not Ole would play in all the time.

More or less only Greenwood and Haaland that I can think of at the top of my mind.

I don't think he'd flop at all but I wouldn't be surprised to see his numbers drop.

When you watch Bundesliga highlights every team seems to play with a high defensive line and leaves acres of space for him. He won't get that in PL.

If you were facing 3 from Rashford Greenwood Martial or Sancho you'd be crazy to play a highline.

That's only my slight concern. And that's not specific to just Sancho either. This league is far more competitive overall than the bundesliga. Teams set up more defensively too.

There's usually a high profile transfer already brewing when the PL season ends

Morata, Griezmann, Maguire, Wan Bissaka all in recent years.

Normally after a month of the PL season ending, you have a good idea if they're going to be done or not.

I think this season could be different because of the Europa League 'mini tournament' and we might just focus on that and use September as a "January" window.

I would love you to be right and have Sancho in the door before the Europa, but I think that's too ambitious. And not realistic. I imagine the last time we were hot off the blocks in the transfer market was 2007.

Benefit for us is that we only buy one player from Bundesliga, whereas Chelsea bought two + one from eredivision.

.
If you look at the timing on the "denial" briefs from Stone and the gang, its not really far away now. Maximum 2-3 weeks I'd say.

It was a tongue-in-cheek post :). I was so excited to have Mhkitaryan and later Sanchez, and both ended badly. (Still think they were misused though.)

I agree with the both of you. His talent is evident and I am excited to see him with us. I am also cautious and don't expect him to rip the league apart because there are many factors at play, including opponents, teammates, coaching, manager, tactics etc.

Yeah, agree.

And I'd think he will fit in very well with our players and playing style. But yeah, PL is another beast than Bundesliga.

Luckily his skillset is better suited to PL than Werner for instance, in that he doesnt rely that much on speed but more on getting out of tight situations and has really good passing and awareness of others' movement.

I'd wager he would fit better with us than any of Chelsea signings would in their team, at least from the get-go. Also because he is the only one coming in, while they have 3 incomings.

Chelsea would have to more or less create a whole new system and play up-front, while it is glaringly obvious our team needs a RW.

So all in all im quite optimistic as long as he has a run of games to get used to us in the start of the season, which he will.

Ofcourse, having a normal pre-season would be even better, but both Maguire and Fernandes fitted in really well even without.

They're goal scorers so I haven't included them (hence I mentioned dribbling stats). However I have made this same argument for Greenwood when it comes to discussing goal scorers. So essentially we would have the winger equivalent of a Greenwood. Both Greenwood and Sancho are rare.

I don't think he'd flop at all but I wouldn't be surprised to see his numbers drop.

I think his numbers would drop. I've made this argument before. See my post below.
I posted these statistics a while back to showcase how Sancho might grow.

per 90 (successful/attempted/%successful)
Sancho age 18: 4.1/6.8 / 60.3%
Sancho age 19: 3.0 /5.4 / 55.6%

Hazard age 19: 2.0 /5.3 / 37.7%
Hazard age 20: 2.9 /6 / 48.3%
Hazard age 21: 2.5 /4.9 / 51%
Hazard age 22: 2.1 /4.4 / 47.7% (Premier League)
Hazard age 23: 4.1 /6.5 / 63.1% (Premier League)

Sane age 19: 3.3 /6.8 / 48.5%
Sane age 20: 3.5 /7.7 / 45.5%
Sage age 21: 2.7 /4.8 / 56.3% (PL)
Sane age 22: 3.2 /4.9 / 65.3% (PL)

I noted the players at similar ages, and used per 90 min statistics as I didn't want Sancho to have an unfair advantage that benefits the player that has more time per game to rack up successful dribbles.

As you can see, each player had a year of adjustment in their first season in the PL. Their 2nd season in the PL started to show off similar or better dribbling statistics compared to their teenage years in the "less competitive" league. Going off these statistics, it shows that Sancho was the better dribbler in their teenage years.

So seeing as Sancho is about to have his age 20 season next year, we could be looking at something special in terms of disrupting defenses or causing fear in defenses.

I don't indulge in much muppeting. But this is one signing that if it happen, is going to touch all my sleeping Muppet senses. Come on Ed. Get it done.

Yeah, totally agree, his numbers would drop for sure.

But given our lack of any RW it would still improve us from the get-go.

Greenwood is still inconsistent enough not to warrant him playing all the games there anyway, so I'd say the two of them would have a similar amount of minutes.

I dont really know when Ole is planning on playing Greenwood in the center though.
