I think for this game we should mix up the team a little bit, get closer to our first eleven but not totally there.

    Romero
    TFM Bailly Maguire Williams
    McTominay Fred Pogba
    Lingard Martial Rashford
It is a team that we can improve on the hour mark if we need to get a goal or 2, or its a team where we can rotate the first team players out if the match goes well. We should win this, Copenhagen did well to get this far and beat Istanbul but we must be confident of the win, i'm going for 3-0 to us.

Considering the longer rest between games, five subs and that this is a bit of a preseason I think we should start our strongest 11 from here on in. If we can get a comfortable lead in this game then we can quite easily rotate early.

Fernandes, Rashford, Pogba and Martial will probably take one, but who takes the fifth if it goes to penalties?
If at any stage we go to pens, and we have our best players on the pitch, then Greenwood.

well, Lukaku has scored 30 goals this season. Has anyone at United done that?
Martial has scored more league goals in the PL this season than Lukaku did for Man Utd in either of his season here. How’s that for a fair comparison? None of Utd’s strike force have played in an inferior Italian league.

Eriksen Martinez and Brozovic would walk into our team though, so that says something too
    No they wouldn't at all.

Would Eriksen n Brozovic get in ahead of Pogba n Bruno? Not for me.

Martinez may over Martial but that's not even a sure thing either. I haven't seen too much of him but the Italian league isn't the PL mate.

It' a comparison of goals scored - you sound like a Tory MP. Serie A hasn't suddenly become Ligue 1. You simply dismissed Inter as not being a challenge

It' a comparison of goals scored - everything can be compared. Serie A hasn't suddenly become Ligue 1. You simply dismissed Inter as not being a challenge. Lukaku played in a United side where the passing wasn't exactly brilliant

An injury free Martial and Rashford would have got close.
I'd like to agree but I just don't see either of them getting the league goals needed to mount a serious title challenge (true Lukaku might no have done either). I always think someone has to score at least 20 league goals to get you up there (unless you have a team where there are enough goal scorers to share out the task, as we were in say 1999 ). I stand by my belief that we need a natural goal scorer (given Mason isn't going to be our CF any time soon)

Until Bruno came in February who has Martial had to provide? Also not forgetting both Rashford and Martial were out for months at a time. Lukaku got no way near the season Martial just had for us.

Full strength only. We cant afford to feck this up. If were winning comfortably around 60 mins we can start subbing. Saying that our full strength team should be able to cope playing 3 games in 11 days.

What’s a fairer comparison 2 players in different leagues or 2 players on the same team in the same league a year apart?

Lukaku was a complete failure at Utd, scoring 12 league goals last season. The PL is clearly a lot better and more competitive than Italy.

    Brozovic is better than Matic

Eriksen is on a similar tier to Fernandes/Pogba IMO

Martinez has done it in the CL also.

The PL isn't the highest level ever, we've seen that with Bayern dismantling a Chelsea side with ease.

I’d give Bruno and Rashford further rest here, both looked absolutely shattered in the Leicester game

    Romero
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Williams
    Matic
    Pogba Fred
    Greenwood Martial James

    Are you the ref?
    From Sky Sports News,

"Breaking team news, Phil Jones has remained at home whilst the rest of the squad traveled to Germany. He may be out for the rest of the mini-tournament"

    Made me laugh anyway.

Nope it’s just become worse. The current Juve team with one of the best players ever are awful and have just toiled horrendously against Lyon and lost, yet they won the league. With 83 points. Inter are really inconsistent and would have lost to Getafe on another night too. Only Atalanta are really noteworthy. At least Ligue 1 have one top team.

About Lukaku, Martial and Rashford have outscored his United tally in either season and would have done so outright if neither were out for two months. If you want a straight comparison on goals scored, then Ings is a better striker than Aguero.

No but we have 3 who have scored rather a lot between them which shows we have a pretty decent forward line. :wenger:

Not forgetting a midfielder who's done rather well:smirk:

Honestly I've had a look at Lukaku goals and general play this season. Mason would have scored 40+ goals against that level of competition.

If Martial had been on penalties for united, he would have scored twenty league goals or more even. Who was Liverpool’s top scorer this season, how many goals did he score, and was he on penalties this season?

Martial even with the injury would have if he was on penalty duty for the season. Lukaku scored a lot of pens this season
Still Lukaku with the service that Martial had near the end would have banged in 30 league goals probably even with him missing a few.

Copenhagen have done extremely well to reach this stage but I think we should win this game extremely comfortably. I reckon we can afford to play a mixture of our strongest eleven and fringe players.

    Starting XI

    Romero

    Wan-Bissaka
    Bailly
    Maguire
    Williams

    Fred
    Matic

    Greenwood
    Pogba
    Rashford

    Ighalo

    subs:
    De Gea
    Laird
    Lindelof
    McTominay
    Fernandes
    Lingard
    Mata
    James
    Martial

    Score Prediction:
    Manchester United 4-1 FC Copenhagen

I think we all might be underrating Copenhagen just a tad. United should win comfortably, but Copenhagen are apparently on a 31-game run in European competition (incl. qualifiers) of never conceding more than a single goal. That’s the longest such run by any club ever.

First team has to start minus Bruno and maybe AWB. Not many games left Ole has to go for it.

Brozovic maybe, but the others... instead of whom?
I don't think there is much in difference between Martinez and Martial and Eriksen with Pogba/Bruno personally. They're all fantastic players, I don't think it's bad to say they're in a similar catagory.

This day two weeks since DeGea, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Matic, Bruno, Rashford,Greenwood played a match and Martial got roughly 10 minutes of action since then Pogba 30 minutes and Williams 72 mins.

Let's be honest for the last few PL games United were running on empty. That rest for the 10 of the first team will hopefully have them refreshed and ready to kick on starting tomorrow night.

Has Eriksen improved at Inter? His last year with Spurs he was average at best.

Surely anything other than an easy win would be a surprise. Not winning would be a scandal. Strong team please. There's plenty of time to rest.
