Sony and MS take the same 30% cut that Apple take, so I’m sure they’d be looking at this especially as MS have problems with Apple over gamepass.

Based on absolute nothing I’m concluding that Epic were trying to enable situations where kids could run up massive bills without oversight and this is a good thing.

They did it on purpose knowing they will get kicked off. Now Fortnite players will cause a fuss which they wanted, but I’m not sure Apple are the type of company to give in to demands.

Why would they want that? Seems like a really stupid thing to do, to de platform yourself from a billion users.

Cause a huge uproar and massive publicity, which exactly what they got.

They also have MS and Google on their side. Apple refused to allow xcloud on their service as they want each game tested separately, which MS weren’t prepared to do yet they allow services like prime video and Netflix. Weird.

MS should be vary of siding with Epic as like I said it won’t be long before they come after Sony and MS for their 30% cut. They going after the biggest fish first.

What do epic want? A reduction in the cut Apple take? It’s their App Store so surely they can charge what they want?

According to lawsuit papers they want their own Epic store on IOS.

Thanks for explaining, I’m not too clued in to what’s going with fortnite, apex,
pubg and their monetisation schemes and to whom they have to pay % of their revenue obviously.

Apple should let them and set their fees at 95%.
Basically they want it to be like windows, where you see all these 100 different store apps.

An interesting legal battle coming up then it seems!
I’m clearly to dense to understand what’s going on. I miss the days where I just fired up my dial up or fired up my PlayStation disc and played it until the optical drive fecking ignited.

Yup. I guess the only thing Epic could argue is that it is "anticompetitive".

I enjoyed Epic‘s take of Apple‘s 1984-ad and it‘ll be interesting to see where this goes. But it‘s a bit rich coming from a company that basically wants a less regulated and more profitable way to suck up as much of our kids pocketmoney as possible.

Two giants fighting over sharing somebody else’s lunch money.

I generally consider myself to have a decent understanding of a wide range of topics, but man do tech things like this go straight over my head.

That being said, while Apple are definitely cnuts, I cannot in any way or form fathom that Epic games are doing this for any sort of altruistic reasons or to stop any sort of monopoly, but rather to make it easier for them to suck money from kids in micro-transactions in some way or form.

I just don't get it. Don't get me wrong, Apple are massive cnuts, but then, so are Epic. Their weird obsession with going after these companies who they think take too big a cut from their own fecking store is dumb.

It's Apple's OS and platform which they built from the ground up and got to such a vast number of users by their own virtue, what the feck do Epic expect here?

I kind of understand the point that Apple doesn’t develop their own games so them always taking a 30% cut is cheeky but of course Epic are not doing this to be the hero for gaming. They’ve already tried and are doing well in toppling Steam (through offering free games) as the PC store to use and now they want to have a mobile store too. It’s all about making them the gaming giant and their pockets fatter.

And the ios store is nothing without the apps. I'm surprised people actually defend the status quo.

And the apps are nothing without a store that gives them access to hundreds of millions of users.
To be fair on Epic that's exactly what they're trying to do though - build a store to sell their own games on. They've done it on PC as that's allowed, but Google and Apple don't allow that on their OS's.

Of course, and the cost of skins in Fortnite is ridiculous as they know kids are addicted to collecting them.

It's billionaire corps vs billionaire corp, nothing they do is for us. That being said, Apple are massive cnuts more so than Epic, so maybe something will come from it to make the store a fairer marketplace.

Though I doubt it, now google is involved there'll be some kind of deal down the line.

Wait, what?! Hopefully they'll ask for a huge compensation once they'll win this.

Yeah I know. They said the logo could damage their brand. Holy feck, how could anyone think that looks anything like an apple logo — it’s clearly a pear.
